MPP92 The Psychology of Christianity with Dr. Sean McGrath

Professor Sean McGrath is a former monk who studied at the CG Jung Institute in Zurich which makes him a perfect person for me to talk to about wrestling with my Christian heritage and encounters with the Christ I've had through yoga and psychedelics.
Sean J. McGrath researches and teaches in the areas of metaphysics, classical German philosophy (Kant to Heidegger), phenomenology and hermeneutics, and psychoanalysis at Memorial University in St. John's Newfoundland.
I discovered Sean through the excellent Psychology & The Cross podcast, which you can listen to here: cross.center

Much appreciated this. New questions arise about the value of Jung for today's Christian. Or conversely, how do we talk about Christianity in an age when contemporaries (and self) are steeped in psychology? I'd enjoy more on this from you guys.

Hi Andrew, My upcoming conversation with David Tacey gets into this. You could also check out his excellent book Religion as Metaphor. We're talking about recording an episode focused on the very question you pose here. Brian

People who are truly free from the thoughts of others, and, as it were, alight from within, from the very fountain of heaven, are frequently crucified by others, who are _not free._ Put down your stones of wrath, my friend. Be you free.
