MP makes Parliament laugh with embarrassing story meeting Queen Elizabeth II

MP makes Parliament laugh with embarrassing story meeting Queen Elizabeth II: Grant Shapps told the Commons how the Queen Elizabeth had saved him from feeling embarrassed during his Privy Council swearing in ceremony. Mr Shapps said he did not understand the meaning of the phrase 'brush her hand' as part of the ceremonial oath-taking.

My favourite Queen story was when President Ronald Reagan joined the Queen for a horse ride around the Windsor estate .they arranged a time to take the ride The Queen mounted her horse next to Reagan then noticed there were 5 secret service men all on horses behind him she quipped (make sure read this thinking of her voice) "I thought we were going for a horse ride not joining a posse" Reagan apparently found it very amusing as do I . Rest in Peace my beautiful Queen XX

My step grandfather was a drunk. My grandmother was a local councillor. In the 90's (I was very little and wasn't there) the Queen came to our town to open our town hall. The councillors and their partners were all lined up and she was to shake hands with each one. Apparently when she shook my step grandfathers hand, he winked at her and said "Hiya Liz" My grandmother was furious. My parents who witnessed it cracked up laughing. They told me the Queen looked at him for a long while and just said. "Yes" and walked on.

she did at least once. A collegue of mine years ago was on Royalty Protection at the Palaces. I think on a Thursday afternoon she used to decamp from Buckingham Palace to Windsor - with the corgis. The dogs were in her car and she got in to find one of them had left a present on the carpet. She went MAD.. she swore apparently.. the stench was terrible. She got out and went back inside whilst it was all sorted out and freshened up. lol. As my friend said.. well, she was married to a sailor!

'The only time the queen went into hiding'. Read on..... HMTQ had to entertain many prominant people at BP during her Reign, some of which were more difficult than others. One of these guests was Nicolae Cesusescu of Romania. Few days into their 'state visit' HMTQ was walking her corgis in the Palace grounds when she spotted Ceausescu and his wife in the distance walking towards her. Without being seen, she dragged her corgis into nearby bushes and hid until the Ceausescu's had passed by and hastily ran in the opposite direction. Maybe Tom Bower should write a book about our 'badass' Queen and these lovely stories. RIP in eternal peace beloved Queen.
