Make sure to choose what area you want to live in and understand the environment. Also , Learn some self defense moves just in case along with buying a taser and pepper spray . A taser and pepper spray is cheap .

No we don’t, there are some parts of America that are “ghetto” but no we don’t live in the ghettos 😒 you need to lean self defense movies as a precaution without it your more likely to get kidnapped. It’s common sense to protect yourself at a young age. Idk what country you come from to think that needing pepper spray, tasers and learning self defense means you’re from the “ghetto” but you need to fact check

Tip for next time you move is leave your clothes on your hangers and place them straight into the car and then you can hang them as soon as you get to your new wardrobe. ☺

Tbh I found putting all my clothes in a big trash bag and taking all the air out the easiest thing to do, and also doesn’t take that much space.. I used a suitcase for all my bed linen, blankets, small pillows and things like that.. There’s so many things that makes moving easier, and this can definitely be a help for some people

i’m so excited to have my first apartment but i’m going to miss my family so much😭

I will definitely „move out“ during university until I’ve successfully made my bachelor, master and doctor degree here in Germany. But after that I will move back home for about 1-2 years and then move out completely. Until then I don’t have to worry about financial help because my grandpa is paying for my whole uni live and I’m solo thankful for that

Your basement apartment is actually soooooooo NICE

I move a lot so a tip for clothes is to get a trash bag and cut a little hole at the bottom. Then get all your cloths on hangers and put them through. And then just tie the end. So when you get to your new place all you have to do is take the trash bag off and hang them up

They grow up so quick

I really wanted to move out at 18 but times got tough I’m almost 20 this year but I promised my self I would sort my life out and finally do something right I’m in the middle of buying new stuff for my flat before I move just so Ik I have the stuff to live on my own and I just ordered one of them fruit bowl with the banana holder it’s so much cleaner than just throwing everything in the bowl anyways good job on making your flat in to a lovely home

Same. Although my situation is alittle different because my family moved around alot, and I never had time to sink my teeth in or build up a good amount of cash. I made promise to myself to move out by 21, because although my parents are really supportive and helpful while I go to community college, I have siblings. I don't want to be a drain on my family anymore. Plan is to get my Associates by Christmas, and work full time for 8 months. Then I get an apartment near a bigger college and try my luck

When packing your clothes rolls the shirts, roll the jeans, out sock and undies into shoes. Also when getting clothes out of the closet keep them hanging up and put a garbage bag on them and tie it right under the hanger. When you take them off the hanger they may get wrinkled and the hangers get all tangled together.

Being an Asian I really can’t relate like is it normal for Americans to move out at age 18? Most of Asian parents won’t let you live by your own even after you’re 20++ (for example me but I’m a college student so I’m not really at home for the whole year) and even if we already got job mostly parents won’t let us leave the house sometimes even after married lmao. But I’m thinking of moving out after i finish my Degree and have a job so pray for me getting my approval of moving out 😂

The biggest thing is to start saving early and while you're still at home. I never really ate out in high school or spent my money a lot and started working at 15. In school, I still don't spend a lot of money and find ways to save money where I can!

I’m 17 and I graduate next year but my mom seems to be a little iffy about letting me get a job, like every time I ask she acts like she doesn’t hear me or asks me why even after telling her numerous times😬 I don’t wanna go behind her back but I definitely want to live alone after I graduate without having to depend on her or anyone. Or at least not too much. Another thing is I’m not irresponsible I keep the house clean and my grades up. I do everything my mom asks me to so I don’t think this could be an issue.

Work as much as you can and save up as much as you can before actually moving out,and make sure that you've got enough for what you need when you do plus extra left over as emergency funds

I wish i could move out at 18 but I feel like it is so hard :( Because I need to go to college therefore I will only be able to have a part time job and unless I’m earning $35+ per hour I will not be able to even afford anything. I cannot even find an apartment under $800 where I live :( So I’m planning on just waiting until I get my associates degree and then move out bc I will be able to make more money, then continue on my education
