dude the beds being that close is criminal why did the university design the room like that? the beds are damn near touching LMAO.

Yeah the Yale dorms are very irregular in size. Some of them are 2times the size of others…..I went to YYGS and stayed in a cell with a leaky ceiling for 2 weeks… but what an amazing transformation! Lots of love from Shanghai!

⁠@@Amr-ff8ozAnother yygs student here, I must say if you aren’t 100% in love with yygs, then apply regular. If you get accepted ea you have 2 weeks to confirm your attendance and it essentially backs you into a corner to say yes in the middle of December. Of course I don’t regret going to yygs but I wish I could’ve had the time to apply to more programs/consider my options.

@@AnvitaShukla-gf2ic I was not international, but there were A LOT of international students (maybe around 25% of the student body was international). The curriculum depends on the track. I did IST and a lot of the lectures/seminars I attended really widened my scope of science knowledge and I bet the other tracks are eye-opening as well. Honestly the experience will only be worth it if you are willing to try your best and grasp as many opportunities as possible. It is a high price for less than 2 weeks, but I made some great friends and had and overall great experience.

There are tons of people that work just as hard that don't get in, its not wise to make assumptions like that.

for Yale being an Ivy League I would expect the rooms to be bigger but that common room is stunning

Some people will move the bed into the common room for more space! I’ve seen where people put up a curtain so that they still have a sense of privacy, even though they’re in the common room

I feel like it is pretty inhumane to put late teens/early adult hood people living in a room like that. University of Yale, more like university of Jail - the room looks like a prison cell 🥲... I hope you get a nice roomy. That is so sh*t by Yale to squeeze you in like that. Neither of you will have any privacy, you'd think a top university like that would have better dorm rooms.

That dorm room is atrocious considering you're paying for that space and it's essentially going to be your home for at least a year. Those beds are just far too close but you did what you could. It's just a shame that the rooms at Yale are so inconsistent and aren't more optimised for students comfort and privacy better considering you're paying for an ivy league education.
