This video, nay this experience, has changed my life perspective. The simplicity of the piece, and yet the complexity of the message is awe-inspiring. The video is a critique of modern-day living. The video starts with a gray mouse, eating what is described as "Chocolate". The chocolate has a red color, which can symbolize life, and the mouse eating the chocolate, as aging. With a mundane look on his face, and a few bites, we repeat the cycle, indicating a new day has come. Every day, we see him with the same color of chocolate, with a yellow chocolate and green chocolate being just out of reach. The yellow chocolate may symbolize happiness, and green symbolizing renewal. This may indicate that happiness is out of reach, and that the days that are passing, will never come back. Another way of interpreting the video, is that the mouse is eating the red chocolate as a metaphor for trying to achieve something. The red chocolate may indicate that the mouse is trying to find love, as both chocolate and red is connected to love. The repeating of which is the passing of days. In front of him is a pink chocolate, this may symbolize femininity, as he is always looking at it before taking a bite out of the red chocolate. This may therefore again symbolize him attempting to find love. Again, the yellow chocolate is out of reach, indicating that the mouse is not contempt, and that happiness is something that is out of reach.

One time, I went to my friend’s house and had a party. It started to rain and I had to go home. I ate dinner while watching this because my whole family was asleep already. I started feeling warm and got a headache. I didnt end up finishing my dinner. I went to sleep, but it was so hard to do. I thought I had covid and I was correct. The next day, I took a covid test and it came out positive. I isolated myself in my room. I told my friends to let them know, but they didn’t respond. I was ok though. I watched this video again and it just made me feel sadder. Soon, I recovered, but my friends never hung out with me. Summer break was over, and I went to school again. My friends still haven’t talked with me since. I found a new friend in school, but they said that they would be going to another country soon. Then, my last friend left. I miss all of them. Edit: ok, woooow, that’s a LOT of replies, thanks guys, I really don’t know how express how thankful I am. Just an update, i’ve found a friend group, found new interests, but the group kinda fell apart, dw, I still stayed friends with one of the members.

Haven’t cried in months, but this video is oddly emotional/therapeutic for everyone here. Thank you little mouse for bringing some calm into my hectic, lonely life

I know this isn’t as big as a few other events in this comment section, but a show that is incredibly special to me is ending tomorrow night and I’ve been having a lot of fear and anxiety about it for over a month. Listening to this little guy eating his chocolate made all of that go away for a short while. And it feels amazing. I even cried a little bit. He’s what I need in a time like this, to help me get ready to say goodbye to a fictional world so so special to me. I remember being in study hall at school. School is a living nightmare for me, for I have severe emetophobia and anxiety. It’s at its peak at my school. I remember I was having a panic attack while studying, and I turned this on. I calmed down immediately. I came back to it today. It's incredible to see that a simple video of a mouse eating an M&M has let people's feelings come out, where they tell their problems, feel accompanied, look for a little peace of mind after a difficult day... it's beautiful, really. .. I must say that I have read some comments while watching the little mouse out of the corner of my eye, and I understand perfectly what they are referring to, even I felt accompanied, it is as if he was listening to me narrate each of the comments, without judging anyone , just listening... I had a hard time making friends in school, but something I remembered in 5th grade is that I had quite a few. They were very supportive and were kind and funny. We always chatted the chance we got, and we all used to play in the field. When summer break reached I was devastated once I said my goodbyes. I think about them a lot, and I hope to meet them again.

When i was a kid i always avoided those old animations Thinking they were some Jumpscare bait or had a bad feeling about them in general, But this Lil dude made me feel comforted inside, and i got a little emotional thinking about my life with the sad music and the Lonely mouse just enjoying his M&M

He’s not in a hurry or stress, he doesn’t mind eating alone nor that he’s eating lots of chocolate. I think we all appreciate this bc it is a state of mind that we’ve forgotten and taking just a minute with this mouse brings us back to it.

This rat provides something rare. He shows absolute freedom. He is doing what he likes, without having to think about his past problems, or the ones that might appear in the future. He is just eating at peace. Listening to a calming and happy song, that just enhances his happiness. Nothing is bothering him. He is free. Just eating. What happened before is history, and the future is a mistery. You have to enjoy the present, because it is a gift. Just like the name implies. And this fine gentleman is doing exactly that. Some people may find rats to be disgusting, others might find the food on the floor to be a waste of food, others can find annoying the sounds of him eating, but none of that matters now. At least not for him. He is the one in control, time and space are futile now. What matters is the food and its amazing taste, and when it ends, there is more, until he is content. And then, he will do what he wants. That's what I gathered from this amazing and inspiring piece of art I have just witnessed. What an amazing time to be alive.

This was honestly more comforting than it needed to be. I began to believe that I can just remove my anger effortlessly. I honestly wonder just how much less hostile and misanthropic we as a species can be if we make an effort to make our lives less much, much less complicated and hate-filled.

I had a death in my family a few days ago, and obviously I’ve been sad, but also kind of numb to it. I notice that my reaction to grief is to have a moment of overwhelming shock when I first learn the news, and then for a while, I’m perfectly functional and fairly emotionally stable, albeit with sadness lingering in the back of my mind. Then much later, sometimes after many years, I realize how much time it’s been since I’ve seen the person who passed, and it all hits me at once, and I completely lose it in a moment of existential dread over the passage of time and sadness over how I haven’t seen the person in so long. … Losing someone never gets easier. I’ve been seeing this death coming for months so I had time to mentally prepare a little, but we really can’t ever be fully prepared for this kind of thing. Even if I’m in the stage of my grief where I’m relatively stable and functional, I’m still very sad. Somehow, this mouse is helping me welcome that sadness, and it’s strangely therapeutic. Thank you, little mousy. Enjoy your snack. You and I will get through this together, one day at a time.

I just ate a half-finished potato pancake all alone in my kitchen. That silly little clay mouse is the only thing that provided me with comfort. I felt heard, seen, and loved.

I watch this video first after I cry in a crisis and really helps me to calm down and I became more tired to sleep, I also cry once watch this and really help me to calm down. I'm glad to know I'm not alone and you also not I'm starting medication this times (again) and therapy it's really help me, I'm also in a transition time change therapist and stuff but I'm focused on getting better and helping myself to get out this situation and I Know you are also strong to do that and also not alone :)

I used to watch this at home when I fought with my mom and felt alone, it gave me some peace. Now I'm living alone, 14,000 km away from home in a different continent, and it hits different. It's like it went from feeling accompanied to just being him, eating alone trying to find peace with yourself, hard as it might be sometimes.

5 minutes in I started crying. Thinking about my old cats, how my mom sold them. How much they comforted me when I was down, I kept seeing myself in an ocean, the waves washing over me, My body felt weighed down, like I couldn't move, the waves moved boats and those who swam in it. I felt like everyone was going to move without me, that I couldn't enjoy the waves like they could, my entire body felt like it was sinking with weights on my arms and legs, my chest felt like something bright within me turned dark, I felt the warmth of my cat's fur and body on my chest, the other one laying near my arm, I knew they were gone, but I so desperately wanted them to come back, I cried over and over wishing for comfort, sometimes I feel like I don't deserve comfort, sometimes I wished I did more, that I did better, I am sat in a dimly lit room, wishing for that weight to lift up, and for me to enjoy the waves with the others, that I could find the same happiness I did before, Wishing to the heavens that I stopped feeling like this, God I miss them. Whenever I cried they would come near and lay next to me, i would cry my eyes out while I cuddled those cats... It's already been a year since, I still beg to all the gods that it was just a dream...

Miss 2019, it was the last normal year ever

I don’t often cry, but the visible pain in those little eyes and the Austin farewell music on the background along with all the things happening in my life did it for me. I started crying 2 minutes in and haven’t stopped since. I miss my friends.

We are never eating alone. In fact as you watch this video it’s just the three of us-you, this gentle mouse and I.

This is so calming. I've been going through a bad period in my eating disorder recently and I don't feel like I want to eat as much but this little man helped me. I sat down with a meal and just ate with him, and for once I didn't feel bad about it. It feels good to think that maybe one day I'll feel fine when eating all the time. I feel like this little guy believes in me, believes that I can get over it.

I started uni a while back and it is incredibly lonely. I thought I’d make a bunch of friends and be social, but most days I sit alone studying in between classes or sitting in silence on the commute. This video kind of makes me feel better. Like the rat is alone but at peace. No worries, no complaints, just him and a whole pack of candy to enjoy. He’s lonely, but in a good and tranquil way. It really did change my perspective 🙂

i feel the same way, and i appreciate you saying this so i can relate. i sarted uni too and I went into it hoping to be more social and make friends, but it didn't work out that way despite my efforts, and I spend most of the day alone or trying to hide from people. for some reason this makes me sad but also its really heart warming. i have no idea what EXACTLY i am feeling, it is hard to say with words. its something i cannot describe. (but i tried to and ended up writing an entire essay by accident XD) its a cute but kind of depressed looking mouse because of the eyes and the way its sitting, the room is empty with simple piano music, its quite dark but theres also light coming from the windows, the munching sound is satisfying but the piano music combined just sounds odd yk? the mouse looks sad but also looks like its enjoying the M&Ms its kind of blurry and the place looks sort of empty, with only the mouse and it's M&Ms, its like being alone but also getting whatever u want. its like being the last person on earth but also getting everything in the world. the mouse is just sitting there, munching on the M&Ms non stop, the chocolate looks nostalgic, as if you've seen it somewhere before but cant remember it. the mouse looks like its made out of clay, it looks so familiar, like its out of a clay animation that u saw as a child but u just cant remember it, its so calm and peaceful. the rat seems lonely but also happy because it has it's M&Ms, when will they run of M&Ms? it doesnt even look like M&Ms. the place looks like a corner in an abandoned room/house, no ones been there before, all u think about is "wow, i wish i could go comfort that mouse, eating all by itself" but then u remember, thats impossible. u hear it's munching sounds, its the same everytime, no difference. the sound is a bit satisfying but also sounds like a - mouse sobbing and stress- eating - (idk why i laughed at this part) the mouse just looks so depressed but looks a bit unbothered because its got M&Ms. but, what if it gets bored of eating M&Ms? will it ever have a life outside of this? is it's only life purpose to eat M&Ms? thats basically it, u dont need to read all of it but uh for short i talked abt the appearance of the mouse, the emotions, the nostalgia, the surroundings looking empty, dim lights, sad munching sounds but also satisfying in a way and the calm and peaceful piano music that makes u feel like ur in heaven. oh and the fact it will never actually finish an entire M&M.. it'll only chew a piece but then.. it'll regenerate again. its always the red M&M, hes never eaten any other color, never finished a whole M&M, maybe thats it's goal in life, yk? I just love this. The simplicity and the things you can think of. Its an amazing time and I love it. It somehow adds comfort to everyone who watches it its simply amazing. Simply enjoyable and I cant think of why. Its just a great vibe and song combined.

Do you think he listens? Do you think he knows that everytime you play this video, you get another opportunity to have a friend again? Do you think he may feel the same way? You think he remembers that crushing feeling that you experience now, how those weighted dreams seem so far away? Do you think he's there for you? Think he will always be? We can feel sad in life. We can look back again and again at friends long lost, look forward to goals so far and just feel stuck. Sad and empty, is there more to life then that feeling of doubt and depression that you sink into at each plateau of emotion? I think there is. We can see that, when we have dinner with friends sitting at a table. A friend who isn't there, but a friend who's there to you. A friend who's made it and is waiting for you on that other side. He knows you, and knows you can do this.

The serotonin I receive when feeling sad and watching him regurgitate the m'n'm and just eat it again...

I didn't search it, it's coincidentally found on recommend. I'm glad that i enjoy my time when lunch, dinner or ending my night after long time struggling in life.

He makes me feel special, I love this cool little guy.

I remember finding a reel of this guy that said he was eating alone. This was in the last two months or so. I cried so hard because lunch has gotten to the point where I hardly know anyone I sit with. I feel so alone and it hurts so much. I want to be able to sit with someone and talk like I used to. Now I’m so lonely. Thank you friend for listening

I'm sorry that happened to you it happened to me to I try to pretend it doesn't bother me but it makes me so sad sometimes. I hope one day if I keep trying I will find a friend I can talk to at lunch not just in lab or class I want a friend. I used to have so many but they all got different friends and then we never saw each other again. It feels so lonely when you knew what it felt like to be loved.

That's just fucking stupid..... And that's what makes it work. I feel like after years of hearing the same things over and over I finally understand it. "The light to the end of the tunnel" You know I've heard that so many times over and over and over. With cartoons, movies and books. And I perfectly understood what it meant. That little small thing that makes you wanna keep going. I understood that already from the start. But it's only in the few months/ years that I finally feel it, and I understand it better than I ever did. That little thing that keeps us going. It's the exact same thing. Yeah, but now it means so much more. "The little things are what matters" I've heard this a million times. And now your comment has made me realize what this means. I hope I can get to tell things like this to my kids of smaller family members one day. They won't really get it and just smile uncomfortable like I did when my grandma told me things like this. (Man.. the song is almost over. Gotta finish this comment fast. ) And maybe. They will understand the true meaning of those words even after I'm gone. Who knows. Just ate dinner with this mouse, cried a little bit and i know this is just an animation and this mouse doesnt really exist but im glad i could keep him some company for 10 minutes, as he sat here with me the whole time. Thank you mouse, im sure ill be back here in no time :)

I listened to this while sitting on the bathroom floor in my high school eating my lunch because i have no friends so i wouldn't feel like i was alone and end up crying because i have nobody to talk to. it's just me and him right now, he gave me a few m&ms for a bit of cheese off my turkey sandwich, probably one of the best trades i've ever gotten for lunch :/

It’s almost scary how much inner peace this gives you. It makes you feel like everything is gonna be ok. It’s silly that we all are doing the same thing sitting here watching a clay mouse eat chocolate ,and yet it still make us smile to be able feel that the world this has some kind of hope. Maybe all of us just need to watch a mouse eat chocolate and vent to it, about all of our frustrations no matter how abysmal and absurd it is. (P.S- I normally hate writing, but for some reason this makes me want to write more. Maybe this will help me enjoy writing more.)

I used to watch this show, when I found this video it brought back so many old memories. I used to watch the show on repeat and I would watch every episode over and over again. It made me sad when I found it because hardly anyone knows about it and it was one of my favourite shows as a kid and the fact that no one really watched it makes me feel a bit lonely, like this mouse. It makes me feel an emotion that I have never really felt before, I can’t even describe it.
