Suggestion for the throttle pedal: Get a throttle pedal for a 2005 Chevy Silverado. It has a potentiometer built in, it's cheap, and if the Hayabusa throttle operates via a cable, that shouldn't be difficult to figure out. Just tack on something to the Chevy pedal to pull the cable. Anything is possible with an angle grinder and an appropriate welder.

The Wabbitt will be something else when finished, but how's Steve-on doing, and when will he be back? His wood working skills would come in handy when making a custom bed for the truck.👍
My first suggestion: VW Corrado G60 front brakes. They're the same 4x100 bolt pattern, but are 11" ventilated disks, instead of 9" solid. You need the rotors, calipers, and carriers. In order to fit all that on your early hub carriers you'll need adapters from Momentum Motorparts. You'll also need to upgrade to a 22mm, or larger, master cylinder. Again, Momentum has this, but others do as well. My other suggestion, but one that is probably waaaay out of your budget, would be the IRS and subframe out of a Mustang. Solid mount the center section, solid mount your engine, install driveshaft and then forget about it.
I'm literally laughing with tears over the hilarity!!! You've outdone yourselves. Full cheese on display. Sooo goood. In other news...great build. Thanks!

For the throttles, you could probably take some tips from the guy who put a Hayabusa into the rear of a Nissan leaf, creating a similar hybrid concept to your build. Superfastmatt (youtube) did an excellent review of this build (by derekbruceyoung ) 5 months ago on his channel.

@@ratmanbrian it's got about 4500 miles on it including a trip from SF to LA with a day in the canyons and then a track day and then back to SF, so I'd say pretty good for a highly experimental vehicle. @@DerekYoungdby 4500 miles is definitely a noteworthy achievement. Why would the drive sprocket wear? It's not all that different to being in the motorcycle. Is it heat related I wonder? Or after-market quality? Please post more video.. I've subscribed.
@DerekYoungdby
Жыл бұрын
@@ratmanbrian the lack of cush drive is the big difference from a motorcycle application -- which I have now remedied. Hoping it's the silver bullet. Now that it's up and running again I will definitely film more. Sprockets have been good quality (PBI and then custom from the Netherlands with induction hardened teeth) -- the diff sprocket was PBI 7075 aluminum (which they no longer make), but the new one on the cush is steel. That should help too.

This engine combo is straight from my heart. You dudes read my mind.
However you set that drive shaft up to the busa trans , there has to be a slip yoke in there , if any thrust loads (giggity) Push or pull on that trans output then youll have aluminum soup oil from the gear sets eating into the cases. The slip will need room to move in and out enough to not bottom out with suspension travel. Also there are a few sites that sell ujoint yokes that bolt up to the busa trans output.
If they make a Rekluse clutch kit for the hyabusa you may be able to get the paddle shifters to work with that
I see that cyber atv and the not a flame thrower guy just having the time of his life on that field
Lol the drawing.. "interesting how thats a different color from everything's else 😂😂😅🤣
Uncle Rich needs a damn Oscar i swear 😅 awesome video yet again
This looks like it’s going to turn out way better than it should. One question that I actually have a little personal experience of, so not afraid to ask it. It looks like you’re mounting the Hayabusa rigidly to the frame. That’s going to make it loud and nasty in the cab and not in a way you’ll get used to. I’ve tried rigid mounts and the noise and vibration was incredible and it came in waves. It was almost bearable at some rpms and it made 4” thick wall box behave like spring steel at others. The resonance made it look and feel like the box was bending to impossible extents and the volume was unbearable. And I didn’t have a roof or windows! Have you a plan to deal with this, or have you done some clever mathematical stuff and worked out where the resonant frequencies will be and corrected for them? Or is there a hidden flexible mount somewhere that I couldn’t see, to absorb the vibes?
@Njazmo
Жыл бұрын
Even mounting exhaust pipe(s) semi rigidly to the frame adds a lot of noise in the cab. That's why they have rubber mounts at the factory.

That would make for a massive amount of unsprung weight on the rear suspension. They'd have to have so much spring rate to control it, and thus a ton of damping, that they might as well solid mount the axle to the frame...
We havent forgotten you Stevon!
A dry ice blaster would be perfect for all the projects you do and would save you a TON of time BUT they are pricey($16,500). They are great for cleaning and de-rusting, etc. Search KZread for Dry Ice Blasters. Karcher has a IB 10/8 L2P dry ice blaster that creates dry ice from liquid CO2 tanks which in my opinion is much easier than having to ship and store large quantities of dry ice. Or not.

@@End3r_Wiggin i don't think that will work, theoretically it will always be either spinning or skidding on one end... obviously for small differences and low speeds not that big of a deal but if it does happen to be enough more than negligible then it will either be unstable or just wear out stuff crazy fast or both

I'll be really interested to find out how you sync the front wheels to the back. Maybe a speed sensor on each back wheel, and a sensor to know the steering pitch to calculate the expected speed of each front wheel. It might be a built in function if the (EV) controller was designed for 4WD with separate front and rear motors.
@watahyahknow
Жыл бұрын
i know that a mercedes tuner (brabus) made a smart with hubmotors on the front wheels and the normal engine in the back , think they just operate the electrics off the same trottle that operates the gasmotor , the wheel speed will be the same as the rearwheels but the torq varries depending on the efficiancy at a certain wheelspeed not so mush programming , theres no thechnical wizzardy that reads the wheelspeed trottle position or delivered power from either end just one drive being held back a bit more than the other and working a bit harder , it kind of self levels , unless one of the two drive is turning the wheels in reverse there should be any spinning wheels if there is they could do some sort of traction controll / abs system in case one set of wheels breaks loose
I was just about so say...what a huge amount of work was completed... Great job...stay safe!
Rich you should make a jet ski snowmobile, a jet ski hull with a snowmobile propulsion system. It would work on water and snow and would probably be a lot more stable on snow than a snowmobile as long as you use a hull from after 2008.

Hey bud. There are a few options for paddle shifters. Pingle makes a electric ram that can up and down shift. And you can have the ecu flashed for ignition and fuel kill so no clutch for up shifts even at full throttle. Now for down shifts I would keep a bar mount clutch handle and have a vertical bar to the shift linkage that you could pull the lever then pull or push the shifter to up and down shift and still have the same clutch control as OEM.
