Mountain bikers bump into King Charles on Balmoral walk

The King surprised a group of cyclists who were going for a ride around Balmoral when he stopped to talk to them.
The monarch was hiking alone on the Scottish estate over the summer when he passed the mountain bikers, who happened to be filming during the unlikely encounter.
Wearing a flat cap and brown padded jacket and carrying a walking stick, the King chatted to the group about the weather and reminisced on some of his childhood memories on the estate with his family.
In footage posted to KZread by Andrew McAvoy, a professional mountain biker from Lochgilphead, in Scotland, the King can be heard asking the men if they had cycled around the estate before - joking that they were probably “old hands”.

True story... Some years ago, while biking round the Balmoral estate at this time of year with a few mates, we found ourselves being passed by a black Range Rover every hour or two, with a couple of chaps in tweed jackets, check shirts and tartan ties inside. It's the country, so we always waved at them and they waved back, until one of our party, an ex cop, told us that these were the royal protection squad checking out who was on the estate and where. When the next black Range Rover came tooting along the shooting track we were on, it was mid-afternoon and I was lying on my back in the heather beside the track, knackered because I was middle-aged, overweight and unfit. I really couldn't be bothered waving any more, so I just waggled my unclad (as I was wearing shorts) knees at the car in a sort of greeting. As it went past, I noticed the elderly lady driving the car raise two fingers from the steering wheel, without letting go of it of course, to acknowledge my greeting..... a pregnant pause followed and then one of our party, who were leaning on their bikes beside the shooting track said, 'That was the Queen, wasn't it?' and we all agreed that it had indeed been Her Majesty. So, I can say, with complete honesty, that my sole contact with our dear old Queen was the time I loyally waggled my hairy knees at her and she regally raised two fingers to me in reply... without a word of a lie!
