While I'm not crazy about CSX as a railroad, I do think they have some of the coolest spec locomotives. I love how the ES44AH and CW44AH have GE's "steerable" trucks and HTE / high tractive effort. That put with GE AC traction makes a fine unit.

Aw yeah! Personally, I don't really enjoy seeing GEVO's from the outside (not a fan of the sound of 4-stroke V12's or the blah GE body design), but from the inside that's completely beast, and comfortable too (it looks like)!

I know I'm a "little late" in commenting but hope you read this. I read a comment by a long time railroader about the mandatory rules, like blowing for every grade crossing even "if no one is around." He said that "each and every rule is written in blood," meaning the rule was written because someone was killed. I'm a railFAN, not a railroader but when the rules make sense to a "know nothing" old sailor like me then I recommend blowing the horn. Our "rulebooks" were written for much the same reason.

Don't be ridiculous. We blow the horn for exactly the same reasons that you do and in most places it's once about 400 yards from the crossing and once again before the crossing. And if the bloody horn is so effective why are there so many accidents ... because it's background noise that gets heard too often and then gets tuned out like any noise that you get used to hearing.

Hate to "toot our own horn" but in the United States, trains are not as commonly used as in England, or anywhere in Europe really.. two long blasts a short blast and a final long blast is required at all US grade level crossings EXCEPT areas that are designated "quiet zones", as regulated by state and local gov't. Our trains are bigger and run on more horsepower and are harder to stop than British trains. In the US our trains are loud and proud.. If you dont like US trains... dont watch them!!

The rumble of a GE loco sound great in the cab, but one thing I cannot get over: I could barely stand the blasts of that loud, annoying, and severely discordant K5HL on a whole trip. I wish there was a K5LA up there. I wish the stupid and totally worthless FRA regulations never existed, because damn did they really destroy decent-sounding horns. But I'll quite my bitching and give credit where it's due... seriously great video though. I love the cab night shots.

Let's begin with I love US trains I just think your horn rule is useless. Constant train horns makes them background noise, If the only time they were used was in time of real need they might be heeded more. Ergo, less accidents. Don't tell me about stopping trains, I drove them for 35 years. I'm not British I'm Australian and sorry but with one exception the longest, heaviest trains in the world are right here in Australia. British freight may not be big but it's usually very fast.

@@hakeemsd70m lmao you're delusional. You dont even have hair on your balls kid, piss off
I’ll bet engineers see some very strange stuff.
Your in Australia, The US is different from Australia, The US blows horns for a reason, Australia only blows like 1 short horn.
I have a Choo Choo Vision Train Camera to go with my Trackmaster Talking Edward. It’s a nice CSX ES44AH in Cab sound which I recorded the audio and make the Trackmaster train Cab Ride video on iMovie.
2nd Gen K5hl!!
@coborn35 Australia
Hey Richard, check out 'An epic struggle on Cowan bank'. Im sure you'll be pleasantly surprised.
No it is ES44DC.
Csx 896
Where you driving?

No I was driving
@WhiskeyCentral and of course now you don't have any level crossing accidents any more.........my poiny being that you still do so the whistle/horn has proven to be useless and if as I pointed out was used sparingly would be more effective.
is that k6hll horn on bnsf or is it ns or up or kcs

It’s either a Norfolk Southern or CSX because of the flashing ditch lights

The es44ac/ah is indeed the cadillac of all locomotives..

The EMD 2011-present SD70ACe, specifically the SD70IAC's that NS currently has on order, is the Cadillac of locomotives to me.
Nope, he's from Australia actually.
no the DD40AX
@Rocketboy1950 hell no we are just fine
i ment k5hll horn
K5HL?
i like all but gp60ms are rare...
Never have the cab light on at night ,your a target for someone !!
I wonder if there is anyway to actually go up in the cab of a CSX here in Florida. Bucket list item of mine. Can an engineer do this ? Or is it a huge no no
That's a union pacific train
Yes, but were are talking about trains, not cars/
I disagree. I don't think any country has the monopoly on "stupid" when it comes to trains.
@UnionPacific6936 you should learn the difference between a Brit and an Aussie.
That isn't a K5HLL...
no
Rod Williams is dha Oprah Winfrey of locomotives Down Under. Check out KZread user Rocketboy1950. He's rockin some damn sexy Oz locos. These things are dirty, noisy, arrogant and stink. But, hot damn they are good.
I love the cab night shots.
actually ac6000 where de rated
Let's begin with I love US trains I just think your horn rule is useless. Constant train horns makes them background noise, If the only time they were used was in time of real need they might be heeded more. Ergo, less accidents. Don't tell me about stopping trains, I drove them for 35 years. I'm not British I'm Australian and sorry but with one exception the longest, heaviest trains in the world are right here in Australia. British freight may not be big but it's usually very fast.
I agree with the safety factor but he's right. America is way over the top with horns at grade crossings. People get so dam used to it they take no notice of it! Its human nature dude, the more you hear or see something, the less notice you take of it.
