Next time you're in SE London, you can do Catford to Catford Bridge as a pointless journey, especially as you can't buy a ticket between the two as Geoff Marshall discovered... that might be a nice collab, between the two of you! 🙂

THIS!!!!! I’ve been seriously wondering why this couldn’t be the case. Reason being I expect that they need two gatelines between the two, for people travelling on Thameslink to outside London. But even still, they could definitely do it. I personally believe it is one of the most needed small-scale additions to the whole of London’s network right now.

nice to see Dylan from the TfL Three and nice that you got to ride the MML for the first time! Great video, Nick, as always! :)
Brilliant video Nick, nice to see this video includes the one route I've been down many times because it's my local route, the Midland Main line. Nottingham is a place that I always enjoy visiting. :)
Brilliant video Nick, great to see you alongside the TFL three again, despite only Dylan, enjoyed this one a lot!
Another great video. You are great on camera and have great knowledge with what you do. It's always good to share your hobbies we other people.
One that would be fun to see (at least for me), would be Clapham - Clapham, via Clapham, Clapham, Clapham, and Clapham Visit every Clapham TFL station before going to Clapham (North Yorks)
Nice coincidence that this came out today, when I've just arrived in Nottingham :) And am trying to pick somewhere interesting to go tomorrow.
Suggestion - Portsmouth Harbour to Portsmouth Arms also, love the video!
I used to live in Wellingborough and back then it was Midland Mainline HST'S in that green livery. Occasionally a virgin HST as well.
Great video, track scratching is always good and lots of variety of rolling stock too!
Coincidentally, Someone suggested this “railway connection “ to me on,y yesterday. So well done you beat me to it.
As someone from Sheffield who visits London a lot, a point to point idea I have is “Shenfield” to “Sheffield”. Every time I see an Elizabeth Line train to “Shenfield” my brain always reads it as “Sheffield”! 😂
5:39 the reason is because the EMR connect services run non-stop from St Pancras Straight into Luton Airport Parkway, acting as an express service, so EMR promote it as Luton Airport Express.

This would be a cool one to see. Gillingham (Kent) - Gillingham (Dorset) I may even be able to join for part of it lol
Have you done Gillingham (soft "G") Kent to Gillingham (hard "G") Dorset yet?
You should do Ashford Kent to Ashford Surrey as a point to point episode
Great video Nick 👍 I think another good ‘point to point’ would be Ashford (Kent) to Ashford (Surrey)
Welling to Wellingborough next? ;)
Nice! Can't wait for more
Great vlog Nick, I’ve visited Nottingham before but not Mottingham.
Hey Nick. I have a good point to point idea. You could you Buxton to Cuxton?
1:18 Yeah the 707s are either on the Cannon Street circulars OR out of Charing Cross heading for Dartford or Gravesend, well, they were last time when I went down there in August unless they have now switched diagrams again
If you want to try mainline to heritage, Sheffield to Sheffield Park can change from mainline to heritage at East Grinstead :)
Used to ride through Mottingham a lot as part of my daily commute and while the 465s are absolutely grim, I have grown up with them and they will always feel like part of my identity and a sign of being home in South East London! My condolences on not getting to ride a 707 but to be honest they aren’t so shiny and lovely anymore despite how new they are, serving Kent and East London will do that to ya 😂

Yeah honestly there's no point in cleaning trains in South East London. Within a few years some class 700s already have heavy graffiti on them. And although the class 376s are still relatively modern they look so ancient now. I hate this area 😂.
Most of my journeys growing in that area were 465/6 and I always liked them, though some seem to have been refurbished and aren't as nice. It's the 376 I don't like. You could have made it even more fun by going via Cottingham!

I've looked at a lot of Southeast London train maps over the years and I didn't remember this one.
There's quite a few train journeys between stations with similar names that can be done such as Burneside to Burnside, Wilmcote to Wilnecote etc as well as the obvious examples of identically named stations such as Adlington to Adlington which the likes of Glovestrains have done.
Great video as always, the MML is quite beuatiful (Luton notwithstanding) used to use it as an alternative to getting the East Coast from Leeds to London when I was a student. Pointless journey idea between the Dorchesters (avoiding Weymouth). Or point to point Appleby to Appsley?

Great video Nick 👍 I totally agree with you about the confusing announcements on the EMR class 360s. Luton is an awful town with an awful station
A thought for another Point to Point video, How about Redbridge Underground Station on the Central Line to Redbridge National Rail Station in Southampton.
Nice Video! How about going from Hayes (Kent) to Hayes & Harlington to Harlington (Bedfordshire)?
@jacksebsmith
8 ай бұрын
Both stations are in Greater London now and have been since 1965. Hayes only still uses (Kent) in brackets for historical reasons to differentiate the two, with Hayes & Harlington previously being in Middlesex prior to 1965. It was never in Bedforshire, Harlington singular is though.
Re Luton Airport Express. My experience as a commuter on Thameslinas is that most Luton Airport passengers are not major rail users, so on Friday evenings my stopper from Hendon to St Albans was full of passengers who got on as the train said Luton as the final destination even though the Bedford trains are faster, and were then getting stressed by the slow journey. So I am guessing EMR make those announcements to reassure people they are on the correct train and not heading for Leicester non stop. Also the LAE service is linked to the DART shuttle up to the airport to provide a 30 min service from St Pancras to the Airport. You'll have a to do an All the London Airport stations in one day video as an excuse to ride the DART. (Don't forget Southend Airport, that's 6 airports to do.)
Been waiting for this one
Got a few suggestions: Sutton to Sutton Parkway or Sutton Coldfield Three Oaks to Four Oaks Preston to Preston Park Newport (South Wales) to Newport (Essex) Southfields to Northfield
Greetings from Long Eaton (LGE), smack bang between Derby (DBY) / Nottingham (NOT). Done the MML many times, along with the split ticketing (I'll be doing this again in a weeks time), which normally split (For me anyway), at East Mids Parkway, a v short 7 mins run from LGE, however now I see the splits happening at Market Harborough, and making use of the Corby Connect services..... weekends, often found I can get two CDR tickets from LGE to STP, with a split at Market Harborough, which means long as the respective services stop here, can come / go as you please, no need for bookable advance singles, which have not been a massive deal cheaper.
Here's an idea inspired by someone's comment about Catford to Catford Bridge... OSIs by rail. For example, Southwark (Jubilee) to Waterloo via Waterloo East. Both Waterloo and Southwark are connected to Waterloo East by pedestrian routes, so how about trying to connect them via rail? Obviously that's quite a boring example, but if you could find any more triple-station OSIs, that'd be pretty interesting. Canary Wharf to Canary Wharf via Canary Wharf would be spectacular!
Wow I'd never even heard of Mottingham!

Hi nick I love your videos
You definitely need to do Buxton to Cuxton after this
Meridians are Voyagers that have gone to therapy and dealt with and overcome their flaws, bettering themselves in the process.
Nick, what was the Cost in lost time with the split ticket? And, what was the $$ Saved by using the split ticket purchase? Was the saving at least 20%? Thanks for the ride along. It was interesting to see the variety of EMR moquettes!

Gillingham Kent to Gillingham Dorset? Newport Gwent to Newport Salop (or Newport IOW)? Bradford West Yorkshire to Bradford (on Avon) BANES (that is BAth and North East Somerset!)?
