My brother had two DTS. A white one and a red one like in the video. Beautiful ride and looks elegant and pure Cadillac. Shame they discontinued both in 2011. The XTS was a nice replacement but should have kept the DTS moniker but even it was discontinued a few years ago.

Being a tall couple, my Wife and I purchased a 2006 Cadillac DTS. I can say that it's the right car for us (Being my 3rd Cadillac, and my Wife's 1st Cadillac); it's very roomy and comfortable, it's like flying a Boeing 767. It's got size and power, and a very ingenious front wheel drive design; and an excellent daily driver. When my Wife and I will grow old, we'll still ride in our Classic 2006 Cadillac DTS. By the way mine is Sapphire Blue (GM: Blue Chip).

A four speed automatic transmission is all I need. Less to go wrong, especially considering today's "fuzzy logic" vehicles.

From the same era, Lexus LS430 or DTS for better ride, style, and luxurious amenities? LS430 has much more gizmos at the time, auto-closing doors, keyless entry and start, and back seat shades.

The LS has an unreliable subwoofer, undependable audio amplifier, flaky radio screen, (slightly) less attractive appearance overall, requires expensive timing belt services regularly, and costs considerably more for a comparatively older and higher-mileage example on the used market. On the other hand, it is faster off the line than any DTS and is rear-wheel-drive with superior suspension, so, weigh your priorities.

@Browningate you have forgot to mention that Lexus LS430 in 2006 had 6 speed automatic while Cadillac had the ancient 4 speed automatic transmission. Also, you can still see Lexus LS430 on the road and still hold an excellent value. While Cadillac known to depreciate quickly due to its problems and high maintenance. Your argument it is not valid at all.

@@ubiased23 Is it though? I couldn't tell you the last time I've seen an LS430 actually on the road or for sale within an hour's drive of my location, but yet there are DTSs rolling around town (granted, some of them in quite bad condition, but still) at a rate of 1 every 1-3 days. Consistently. And we're talking about 20-year old cars, so they're both well past depreciated, and aren't going to be ultra-low-maintenance anymore. So, yes, my "weigh your priorities" [and pick whichever makes the most sense to you] argument very much stands.

The exterior looks lovely. However the interior looks cheap. Especially the dash. It looked like they stretched out the w-body Impala dash, or the Buick LuCerne of that era.

Agree - Cadillac interiors from this era looked horribly cheap and borderline laughable compared to the Germans and Japanese of the time - I think the 2007 Escalade was the first Caddy to finally have an interior befitting a modern luxury vehicle, then the 2008 CTS soon after.

I think the DTS/Lucerne were a cut above the Impala in actual build quality despite the visual similarity. I'm guessing they were trying to throw the aging top line Chevy a bone by giving it a similar looking interior but I think it just cheapens the Caddy/Buick by association.

I had a 2007 for a short amount of time. This car sucks. Its boring, its ugly, it feels like a toyota avalon inside, and it feels claustrophobic when you consider ANY Cadillac that came before it. Its the bare minimum that can be considered a Cadillac, and will always be more of one than the CTS or any of the alphabet soup garbage that came after it. Don't waste your time on this thing, get a 2000-2005 deville instead if its your first cadillac.
