This, to me, was what I call the last of the "classic" Cadillacs. A gorgeous car with Italian styling, too bad it fell short of what GM hoped it would be, only now is it getting its moment in the limelight. Whether or not if I would want to own one would generally depend on many factors such as changes in pricing and value since its heyday, upkeep, overall build quality, etc. As I have found out, wanting one and actually having one are two entirely different things.

that 4-speed auto sounds like a real dog tho, 10-sec 0-60 is atrocious these days. That's all that slushbox's doing. I have an '08 Sedan with the 5-speed manual, and even with the PZEV engine which is down to 130HP, in my testing easily gets a 8 second 0-60.

I own a red 2009 Scion xD with a 5-speed manual and a rear spoiler. It has about 98k miles and still gets 32 MPG around town (down from 34 MPG). I like its steering best. Feels like a four wheeled motorcycle. The front seats are not comfortable without adding aftermarket back support. The ride is jittery. The car is noisy (drones) when taken on highway. I bought it new for $12,751 OTD using cash for clunkers. I tried not to feel guilty about the taxpayer funded program. I will likely drive it until I die.

this Freestyle is very very similar to our Ford Territory here in Australia! I'm dissapointed to hear the Freestyle had a CVT what a let down! we did things right, our Territory came at first with a 4 speed auto then a 6 speed!

I owned a 2003 Impala LS, and a 2005 Impala Base model. I would not own another. Both the 3.8 V-6 and 3.4 engines developed intake gasket problems, transmission problems started at 65,000 miles, rack and pinion steering gear leaks at 20,000 miles, traction control module problems, and wheel hub problems. These cars were money pits. Would have been better off buying a Ford Crown Victoria or Mercury Marquis. Every 3 years or 20,000 miles a steering rack needed to be replaced on these cars because of poor design. Transmissions start acting up at 65,000 miles, and go completely at 70,000 miles because they were designed for a smaller engine and smaller car. If I want a other Impala, it would be a 1965 SS 2 door with the coke bottle styling.

I was crazy about the new 1996 Taurus/Sable when they came out. I won three art contests in middle school deawing those cars. 1996 is rhe best year to get because they had tons of little surprises and delights inside and out that the 1997-1999 models didn't get as they were progressively decontented year by year to reduce the price. For example, the Duratec cars featured high polished turned down dual exhaust tips, Sable LS featured Lincoln grade leather and an illuminated Mercury logo in the grill, and they all came with glass black painted rear suspension control arms to name a few. But they didn't sell as well as Ford hoped. Everybody says it was the styling. Wrong. It was the price. The base GL/GS started at $19,995 which was super high considering there were still alot of unsold 1995 SE/LX + LS/LTS models on the lots fully loaded with the old larger super torquey 3.8 V6 engines for the same price or less. They were worth the price though because you did get a top notch car loaded with nice touches and the stiffest body in production shy of a Mercedes E Class. Also the 1992-1995 Taurus/Sable were the only midsized cars that got top crash test ratings that could pass the first offset frontal crash test that changed the way cars are constructed to this day. The 1996 models passed it too but did so much better since they were larger and much stiffer. Safety is worth any penny youre willing to spend on it. Too bad they don't make em like they used to, now everything is ridiculously needlessly overpowered, overengineered and overpriced for no reason at all other than massive corporate greed. Henry Ford and Henry Ford II would knock the hell outta the guy they got running the show now for failing to manufacture affordable transportation for every family. That was their starting motto with the Model T that held true until Henry Ford II stepped down. Long lived the good old days of Quality is Job 1. Yes we know about the transmissions. No different than the unreliable units in the Accord, Camry & fwd GM products at the time.

In an alternate universe Ford developed a modern EV version of this with no frills but 250 miles of range for $20k-25k and they flew off the lots. If only Ford didn't throw in the towel on good, affordable cars. I've had 5 of this generation (and a 92) over the years and wish I could find another but sadly I wouldn't stand a chance in the way of a pickup these days with respect to safety.

These numbers seem a little bit slow. A bone stock 1999 Mustang GT with 260 HP was running those exact numbers. Weight penalty?

This is such a cool video! I have a 2003 one in graphite gray that my dad bought brand new in June 2003 and gave it to me when I was 16. My sisters and I grew up in the back of that truck, I’m at 122,300 miles and it still runs great. I’ll never give that truck up,, got too many memories. I hope I’ll still be driving it in another 20 years with my future kid in the backseat!

I remember seeing this car being very heavily advertised when it was released. I remember my grandparents talking about it. Then I saw it myself. I couldn't figure out why it looked so boxy and outdated when it was supposedly new... it just looked like it was from 1985, not 1993.

My folks had a 1994 Concours in laser red. The good: excellent 10 speaker stereo, roomy, fast, nice leather interior smell. The bad: unreliable, troublesome, hard ride, hard seats. The car rode like it had over-inflated tires. The Town Car we test drove was at least twice as comfortable and I'm sure would have been more reliable.

Nice! I have the exact same model! My SE edition is two-tone silver with ash interior. Complete with armrest cellular phone and hands-free calling ("no signal"). You really have to get the revs up to accelerate, ride is smooth as silk, cornering is lumbering like a cow. I'm at 228,000 miles.
