$40,000 in 1995 dollars is over $80,000 today! For the base E Class, today the base is around $60,000 only

Nice! I have the exact same model! My SE edition is two-tone silver with ash interior. Complete with armrest cellular phone and hands-free calling ("no signal"). You really have to get the revs up to accelerate, ride is smooth as silk, cornering is lumbering like a cow. I'm at 228,000 miles.

Volkswagen also tried to make diesels more popular in North America...until Dieselgate happened. These days, if the car is smaller than an F-250 or RAM HD truck, it definitely doesn't have a diesel engine.

26-32 mpg is pretty good. My gasoline powered 2.0L 4cyl from 2003 only gets 23-30

Put an amg v8 engine in that bad boy and have one of the coolest mercedes evwr made.
