Question, is the sound in the video the way the engine is supposed to sound? sounds a little heavy for a petrol engine, and mine (bought a short time ago second hand) sounds fairly similar, just wondering if something might be wrong or that is the way it is supposed to be

Have same model. Sounds similar.

I have DOHC FD 1.6 16v 2007 hyundai i30 same problem. I found it can be problem with pistons. Ia it true or just problem with oil? I use castrol sintetic 5w40 oil and like somebody before said it sound little bit worse.. So guys.. Maybe it s normal because all us recognize same "issue"

This is not a piston problem. This is a gap in the stiffness of the cylinder liners of the engines of the Hyundai concern, with mileage and numerous overheating or torn driving at high speeds, the liner develops, the liner becomes oval! And the cylinder at the top bridging point is loose. Oil viscosity for Asian engines 5w20/5w30

@@W3BBE2 What is your mileage? What kind of oil 5w20 or 5w30 do you use? Does the oil level change?

@@vitaliyavt6397 mileage is about 140k (if anyone change it in computer berofe i bought this car). I have 5w40 oil. Oil level change about 1 litre for 10-15k kilometres. I have also LPG instalaton for about 10k kilometres

@@W3BBE2 Clearly, the sound of the engine scares me (knocking on a cold engine as it warms up). If the motor is hot (after a trip of 10 kilometers) then there is no knocking anymore. I am calling the oil 5w20 GF-3/4 and 5w30 A5 5w30 A3/B3.

Vitaliy AVT i encounter the same thing in my 09' 1.4cvvt i30. Service guys told me it s normal behavior for this engine. I'm at 98k kms on the clock. As it warms up, idle speed is slightly above 600rpm and it's very silent.
