Motorcycle Carb Conversion on MK2 GTI

In this video we removed faulty fuel injection on a MK2 VW GTI and installed 4 Yamaha R1 carbs. This is a long video, but we wanted to show the steps and challenges you can expect to deal with if attempting this swap / conversion. I hope this video is helpful as well as entertaining.

    Just bought a MK2 where the previous owner gave this a shot. Ran rich and didn't deal with the throttle issue. This video helps a ton thanks for going over such a Unique swap

    21:55. CV joints make that noise when they are worn out or dry of grease...230k miles... now both

    Thanks, Guys you were able to convince me NOT to put Single Throat Carbs on my Mark 2. Hellow AAA yea Jim's been working on the GTI again, so you know what that means? Yea where it at this time? Does he need gas? Or should we just send the mechanic again? lol, you guys are the best.

    Fantastic work... I am actually planning on do something very similar on my 1971 Opel GT that I have transplanted a Zetec 2.0 into it. Where did you get the intake manifold for the carb?

    Bogg Brother's in England will make and sell you the intake manifold and a modified water neck for 275 pounds or approximately 350 usd plus freight.

    Why not just put in huge jets, then use the secondary regulator to control the amount of fuel fed to the carbs? Will this work just as well on a 8v with digifant2 injection?

    I guess you could try that, but we went with what we knew we could make work. I've spoken to others that have tried other carbs and ways to feed the fuel. I guess there are no wrong ways, just many different ways to complete this conversion.

    But do you think bike cab could work on a Kia río engine 1.3 EFI... but no distributor its coil pack.. I wanna do this to see if my car could run a bit fast...

    typically the carbs are held together be a threaded rod so you could 100% separate one or more and use it to run 3, 2 or even 1 cylinder

    My car's speedometer and cluster workes on ECU As i converted it to carb now it doesn't have ECU. How can i make that cluster work like it was before as now it doesn't connected to ecu or any sensor?

    We retained our ecu and used the electronics to still measure throttle positions and such to allow it to adjust the timing maps.

    @@chaalu420 II wish I had a solution for you. I see people convert over to mechanical gauge kits. That may be something worth considering. Have you joined any forum pages to see what others are doing?

    Can you convert a 1993 Volkswagen cabriolet to carb. I’ve had nothing but problems with the computer and was wondering if that could also be eliminated. Would love to go back to old-school. Thanks

    Anything fuel injection can be converted to carb. There is no difference between your cabriolet and Jim's GTI in the video.

    @@gregoryacevedo2940 we showed you everything we did in part 1 and part 2 videos. You could try using an MSD box and eliminate the stock distributor. There are kits out there as well to give you everything you need.

    if only you could relocate that alternator onto the other side of the engine and mount the carbs flatter and closer to the head

    The carbs require a specific angle for the floats to work, so that dictates the position and size of the intake.

    You cant run motorcycle carbs without the air box! You are way to lean, you will have to jet the shit out of them to run pod filters!
