Norick Abe! Such a crazy riding style, I love it! He was Rossi’s Idol back then, before Rossi was “The Doctor” he had the nickname “Rossifumi” since Norifumi “Norick” Abe was his favourite rider. He must’ve loved racing with him. RIP Norifumi, you are greatly missed.

Barros is definitely an underrated rider.

A beast in motorsports. Absolutely classic victory by Rossi. One of my favourite races in MotoGP. The three were sublime throughout the race.

Wonderboy has retired. Time sure flies. Rossi is simply the greatest. His beautiful riding style was more pronounced on the 250s.

What a very special rider Valentino Rossi is and was in his prime at his peak he was just sublime a joy to watch and still is i was there this day and have been to every British grand prix he has competed in for the last 21 years of his premier class career ive even named my son after him what a rider will be sadly missed and without a doubt for me the greatest of all time.

I remember watching this with my father back in 2000 to this day probably one of the best Rossi's performance you'll ever see. Having such shitty start and coming on top of it all just show how good bike rider VR is and the potential he has, dont think ive seen any other rider do this. It's just hard to explain there is no one like him hes one of a kind.

Rossi, 9 time world champion. 125GP, 250GP, 500GP, MotoGP. legendary. characteristic Rossi style : 1. bad start. 2. picks off riders one by one as he makes his way to front. 3. hangs behind the leaders through the race to preserve tires and evaluate his competition while calculating the best place to pass. hence the nickname "The Doctor". 4. makes his big move near the end while the others are struggling on worn tires. in later seasons, there were cameras in the fairing looking back at the riders. i loved watching Rossi's hands dance on and feather the controls. don't see that now with the electronic nannies on the 4-strokes.

19 years later and Valentino is still pushing for wins.. the GOAT.. Also, amazing to think that today’s road Superbikes have more power and way more tech than these 500s..

Gods of grip, playing on the ragged edge of adhesion ! McWilliams on the twin at a disadvantage but what a performance, the skill level on show from all three was mesmerising !

Satisfying to see Kenny Roberts Jr ride Suzuki at corner... Clean

We did have that feeling long ago, way back in 99 and he's stood in good stead. Absolutely no disappointments. Long live The Doctor.

The first time I caught one of these live on TV as an adult I had the exact same response.

Im watching this while I just came to know it's gonna be Rossi's final race at Valencia GP 2021!!! 😭 ForzaVale!!! We all are so proud of you! Bullshit. It's not from 1938. They did do live commentary back in the dark ages of 2000....

My favorites were the two-strokes. They took real skill to ride and were fun to watch. The first time I watched them race in person, I couldn't believe how fast they were!

Yeah the two strokes seem to be pretty damn wild, but you can be sure that riding today's GP'S bikes mustn't be easy, those things are blindly fast, I know they have more electronics, but that's just to make up for how fast they are, I'm sure riding them today without any aids would be nearly impossible, nostalgia is a hell of a thing, it makes us think that everything in the past was better.

These were CLASSIC battles in MotoGP. Good times.

There're so many armchair racers that have no idea these races exist. Rossi is so very special winning on 2 strokes, multiple different manufacturers, and most of all racing a prototype into his 40. This is why he is the GOAT!

Fantastic. 200Bhp Two Strokes in the wet... Respect. Could only have been better if John McGuiness was battling Rossi for 1st..

When it was wet he had equal lap times think he was a little faster but as it dried out Rossi started laying the laps down.

Riding these Bucking Bronco 500cc bikes in the rain. Supreme skills from the riders. I would like to see the 2 strokes come back aswell.

These races were amazing. You'd start 1st, fall down in 9th position after a few laps, get back up to 2nd, fall back down again, and so did all the top riders. Amazing to watch and uncertain until the end

@@ilanbar8612 Exactly this, today Jack miller complains there's too much tech and too much data to be bothered with. Stoner even said, take out the electronics myself and rossi will win again. They are exactly right, Rossi and others of his generation really struggled and understood the fundamentals of grip and pressure. Imagine riding 2 stroke 500cc extremely aero bike on a wet bankless roads, crazy difficult to master.

Wow, what a race! Top-notch stuff in the 500 cc class at the British GP.

i remember Roberst Jr talking about the Suzuki back then and said "with this bike in the wet, i can beat anybody. this thing is so smooth to ride with absolute mad brakes and stability" unfortunately, when you give up almost 15hp to the Hondas, in the dry it gets tricky. yet he claimed the 2000's championship. Roberts is really underrated. this race proves what he said. the only one guy able to follow him in the wet was McWilliams with the lighter bicylinder.

Look how young Jeremy Burgess is!! Gutted for McWilliams but well done Rossi. Remember watching this live and i was just as on the edge of my seat just now!

Brilliant Just an amazing race n so nice to see the riders showing respect for each other on top bike racing its so much more enjoyable far more exciting n better to watch than F1 yet they get paid peanuts in comparison to F1 drivers, yet they are More skilful n take more chances I respect ALL bike racers from the Great Agostini to Rossi n everyone in between, Always watching these Brave skilful Riders my very first thought Please dear God help them all keep safe

Nel 2021 ancora mi da una grande emozione rivedere Rossi vincere la sua prima nella 500 !!! Pensare che quelle erano moto che scaricavano a terra una potenza incredibile ed immediata senza controlli elettronici o altro fa capire quale era la difficolta nelle gare di quel tempo ... altro che le moto di oggi che hanno mille controlli elettronici che che praticamente anche i piloti scarsi sembrano dei campioni ....
