Moto Guzzi V7 III Rough - Test Ride & Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The brand new V7 III Rough is powered by the legendary transverse V-twin engine and it comes with a 21-litre tank, the largest in the category. We took it for an urban ride and we have some impressions to share with you. So, watch the review and leave your thoughts in the comments!

    Good review, thank you! I own a 2018 V7III Stone, and, regarding the rear suspension, it will “break in” and operate better after +/- 1000km. Switching tires to Pirelli Scorpion Trail II (I did that), or Conti Road Attack 3 (like many others have done) improves the ride quality and handling substantially as well.

    @@MrPerrogaton the guzzi rides fine. People complain about the suspension but i think its fine for a stock suspension. I'm also 5'6 so that must be why. If you get a chance go test ride one you'll love it.

    The front brakes is not just any old Brembo, it's a high-end 4-pot asymmetric, they don't need twin discs. The Guzzi V7 rear shocks are usually described as soggy, so you probably have them tightened up a bit hard there. That might suit two-up. It doesn't have a tacho. A motorbike needs a tacho. Guzzi removed the tacho. What on earth were they thinking? They tyres are squiffy because they're Pirelli, they're all like that. They can trigger the ABS with little provocation and perfectly useless in the wet.

    The high end after market silencers are excruciatingly expensive, but not that much. Unless you simply must have a louder pipe, there's little point changing it. There is little to no performance gain there. A used Guzzi is the way to go, the price drops to affordable.

    That's per 100km, the tank holds 21 litres. However my V7ii returns some 65 miles per UK gallon, almost 300 mile range, about 4.4 litre per 100km/ Maybe city riding is drinking the fuel.

    Good for a day trip to the seaside two-up - but not long road trip touring. Unlike sports bikes the rear seat is wide enough to give your best girl some comfort, and the rear foot pegs are not underneath the passenger's chin.

    Hi everyone, Does it have a lot of retention? I am use to the smooth ride of Harley and not sure if it is a little nervous bike. Thanks to all

  • @jeffslade1892

    @jeffslade1892

    Retention? (sorry, sounds like a bladder problem) My V7ii on Avon Roadrider holds the road like a cat on rails. Comfortable ride. Maybe not as soft as a Harley but then you can lean a long way over until you toes scrape and it's still connected to the road; doesn't skitter about on lumpy bends like a Tiger 800. Very stable, not nervous at all. So stable you can change direction mid-bend without changing trousers. At 200kg they're a lot smaller than a Harley and the 90° Vee 270° firing doesn't sound like a Harley. Not a sports bike but 0-60mph is on par with an 1800 Goldwing, somewhere in the 5s.

    @@jeffslade1892Sorry, I am talking about the motor. In my Harley I used to ride in the same speed in a mountain road for example because the motor does not slow down the bike very much. I do not know the word in English. In Spanish we talk about motor retention.

    I just bought a used 2017 v7iii special. Great bike for a good price. (I don't think I could find a 2 year old Bonneville for what I paid for the used Guzzi.) At first I was worried that Guzzi rumble might get annoying but it's really growing on me. When you accelerate or go up hill you feel the engine thumping or vibrating. Then it smooths out at cruising speed. Also noticed it likes to run at higher RMP's than my other bike. It's very smooth above 3500 RPMS.

    They do rev freely but the torque is down low. I often find myself riding along in too low a gear. Use the torque to overtake cars, change up then open the throttle, very, very long power band. Mine V7ii will potter 30mph (urban speed limit) at 2000rpm in 4th., and then all the way to the rev limiter somewhere around 7500, which is like 30 to the ton in one gear.
