I've never seen such an honest, chill and enjoyable review of a motorcycle that someone doesn't already own. I love this video from beginning to end. I'm almost 50, sipping Brandy in my backyard with a fire table, and a beautiful woman who also rides, understands, and supports the true emotion of riding. The bike and video speaks to me. This was the first review I saw when I first thought of buying a Moto Guzzi V7, and you are one of the main responsible parties for my decision to buy one. Really! I own the V7 iii Stone in electric blue. I ride daily in Los Angeles and it's a dream. Looks incredible-- always a head turner. It rides incredible-- enough power to feel like you can navigate the crazy LA freeways, no problem. It's also skinny, so splitting is a dream. It's comfortable with a neutral riding stance. The price is totally reasonable. I'm surprised I don't see many of them here in SoCal.

I bought mine on Tuesday the 2nd! The "special" in black color and the green stripe! She puts a smile in my face! But for serious filtering no, she is not the one, actually for serious lane splitting only small scooters up to 200cc are kings! Also clutch action in serious traffic with this machine, requires a firm grip with enough endurance. Eventually you re getting used to I guess but honestly there are easier ways to commute. Country roads though are majestic, especially on decent tarmac! And she is so beautiful!I made a choice based on sentiments but although I have no illusions I don't have 2nd thoughts!

The only complaint I have heard about is the lack of dealers. Maybe because America is so big and the Italians think a few dealers in enough? That's not how Americans think. They want everything right here right now or forget it.

Great review great channel, love your style and passion for telling the stories of these bikes, because of this particular review I am going to be the owner shortly of a used V7 Classic, always loved the GUZZI...thx ride safe and keep up the great reviews..

Excellent review, simple and calm all the time. That is my dream motorcycle, actually i like "Speciale" more, with spoke wheels, its more "retro" look. Im 33 yrs but somehow I always loved vintage bikes. Im still in beginner class, riding 50cc-125cc manual bikes, but i think this will suit me well, "when" i get it😉

I’ve just completed my first trouble free and very enjoyable 100 miles on my 2020 V7 iii Stone Night Pack, it’s an absolutely beautiful wonderful bike. Congrats, bro, on your ownership of the V7iii. I got one myself too a few mths back, the Carbon black. Comfortable for my daily 42++ km ride to work & home each way. Only slight flinch is the rear tyre is a bit of a hassle to pump in the air.

@@mart7404 I’m 5.8” and it’s perfect size for myself, but 6ft should be fine it’s a very comfy bike.

My first bike YAMAHA RX100, i love that, its a 2 stroke engine n light weight.... Since16 yrs been riding this yamaha rx100 now after 15 yrs i feel need a matuared bike to suit my style n feel It took 2 yrs of research n endless test rides to a point where i need moto guzzi V7 Stone., as my dream bike..... i live in india n they dont sell this model so its difficult to get directly from indian dealer ..................... my only way is getting it Imported from Itally directly ,,,,,,, it cost more when u Import as it attached 50% duty TAX in india... money is secondary when passion is d goal......right ? i dont care all of this tax. then ......shipping charges . etc. it need motivation to ride MOTO GUZZI V7 ..I be the First guy in India to have MOTOGUZZI V7... it b d greatest pleasure to ride my moto Guzzi V7 on indian road ..... its post covid time n mondelo delario factory in Itally has started their factory after suspension for 2 months...... i spoke to them n in 2 months my bike ll be shipped from TALLY TO INDIA... i gonna make a documentary of my moto guzzi journey n ll post on youtube, wish me luck guys n 2 months from now i ll get my DREAM BIKE V7

Wow, loved your review. The spirit and performance of this bike seems very similar to that of my W800 Street. The two would love running in the country together. I have a smoother transmission, but have to do chain maintenance rather than a relatively carefree shaft. I like that both are air cooled.

Just to clear up one thing. The current V7 is based on the 1977 500cc V50 small block engine, and not the big block V7 700cc of 1967. The new V7 is a replica and not an evolution of the original. The 67 bike became a 750, 850, 1000, and eventually the 1100 2 valve motor of the early/mid 2000's. The current bike was a 500, then 750 Heron head design, before getting updated to a standard OHV motor recently. 2 different engine families here, much like the Ducati 900ss was originally the bevel drive motor of the 70's, before the name was added to the belt drive Pantah motor of the 80's. Same name, different origins.

Been 2 yrs away from v7 II. Bought a v7III, cant stay away from guzzi, have a bmw r1200rt for touring, keeping that. For backroads and just having a blast on a nimble, lightweight, shaft driven bike is perfect. Smooth, reliable, incredible distance from a tank of gas, long seat so u can shift ur self around, upright comfortable riding position, if u thrash it, it'll go, revs nicely, no it's not a rr at all, but that's not what its designed for. It's a small bike, wouldn't reccomend it for a tall person, I'm 5'6" fits perfect, handles decent, best part is throw away your chain lubes or spray it all on your garage door opener if u have one lol thanks for the review

Now, you wouldn't think, that a bike can have the driving characteristics and "temper" that he describes from @3:15 on out. But that is the most perfect way, how to phrase, what this motorcycle feels like when you drive it. I'm a proud owner myself and it definitely has its own pace and it will force it upon you. There is NO WAY you're gonna drive this bike, like you would drive a sports bike. It's all about being cool and having a good time with the Guzzi. It oozes character and laid-backness. Keep up the great work. Particularly love how you maintain an attitude, that is all about safety and not having to prove anything, while riding a bike. Keep on riding safe and keep up the great work!

You and I are on the same page about the V7. I am now the owner of 009 / 1921 V7 III Carbon. It harkens back to the days when I started riding. My first bike was a shaft drive Yamaha XS750. I am on the other end of the bell curve now. I have chased power and displacement and after over 300,000 miles ridden I am ready to slow down and enjoy a proper motorcycle.

You are right! Power and performance is great but it's not every thing. This is what Guzzi understands. It's like they are pointing out or highlighting the finer things in life.

What's better for a Sunday ride? One of these or a Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 or even the Interceptor 650? Do they have about the same power and the same engine feel? What's more fun? I'm not going touring, I just like to go for a nice Sunday ride

Own a 2016 v7II, shaft drive,, smalll bike that does everything large, only complaint is factory runs them to lean, really needs a reflash, alittle rough at 35 mph, long time to warm up, dart windscreen and hepco becker luggage completes the bike, loved ur review, spot on

Your endorsement or permit? You could've been riding a lot with just the permit, which just requires a knowledge test

You get the right philosophy of this bike.

Discovered you today with this review in particular and went for more. Doing good job presenting those nice bikes. I like Moto Guzzi for a while now and your video was an interesting take on the feeling one might get when driving them. I am almost 6.1 and a bit oversized too. My concern is that the bike might look a bit too small when I am driving it. What do you think? Oh, and this is the 3rd gen since 2008 that got reintroduced not since 1967 :)

Hi Nestoras, thank you for the compliment, it means a lot to me. Yea, I felt a little cramped on the V7 and I'm only 5'10" but my inseam is 32inch. I felt much better on the V9 and if I had to put my money down on a V7 or a V9 I'd go for the V9 bobber. It looks like the V7 just a little more leg room, about 100 more cc and 2 kg more but not much else is different. Check it out, you might like the V9 better.

Where do I buy a motorcycle like that? I'm brazilian

Excellent review (like usual), but one question for you Scott: if you compare this V7 to Suzuki SV650 - which one is more enjoyable to ride by your opinion? Or even not comparable two bikes? Ok, suzuki has more HP, but both comparable amount of torque, Guzzi even by much lower RPM? the cool factor is maybe on Guzzi side :)...

Thank you. Yea, they are two totally different bikes, this is way cooler than the SV but the SV will out-preform this easily but if you are riding this you won't care about trying to keep up with an SV650! It's just in a class by itself, when it comes to looks. Wow, this is one of my first videos I've uploaded/filmed/edited...etc. In fact this was the first bike I filmed for my channel. But this video got uploaded second to the MV Agusta cause I thought that it would get more views, man was I wrong!

Loved the sign off "...ride like there is nothing to prove...." 👍

I appreciate your insight and review style. Would you consider this bike too small for someone 6ft tall? I love its look but I have not had a chance to sit on or ride one yet.

Ah, yea this can be a first bike, middleweight, lower power so it won't get you into trouble too quickly, calm, laid back bike. So yea, it will work. 👍

I loved this review... no keeping up with sport bikes, ok... agreed.

Did you miss having a tach? Is it possible to add one since they have them on the Carbon? The bike seems perfect I just feel like I'd miss hitting redline from time to time.

Nope, but you can have it in the digital read out if you want and that's what I did when I was learning where the power comes on and off...etc.

Several features are similar to triumph street twin, seems like you enjoy this V7 iii much more than street twin .

I'm about to get rid of an older BMW F650GS and I've had my eye on one of these as a replacement. Different worlds I realize, but I don't off-road that much anymore and want something relaxing. I have a Triumph Tiger 800 XRT for longer rides and taking the wife with me. I'm in the States and although I do like the Stone (admittedly I'd get the Night Pack with the LED lights), I do have a soft spot for the Special and even the Milano (which blends the styling of the Special with things like the cast wheels of the Stone). So hard to choose.

After riding more than 100 bikes & 2 years since doing this review, this is the one that moved me the most on an emotional level. It's so basic, natural, instinctual, nothing has come close to the experience that this bike gives. Just love it.

I found in manaul that gear indicator was from calculation of engine rev and speed of motorcycle not from a sensor. That's why the gear indicator is so lazy, because it will not calculate until you release clutch lever.

Great sound! Can you do a review of the V9 Bobber? Please! In regards to the V7 could you do a sort of lazy day two up with two full sized adults? Also are there any performance mods to get more hp or torque out of it?

Older Moto Guzzi's the "big blocks" respond to performance mods. They are hemi heads, spark plug beside the valves. Lightening the flywheel and even the clutch cover (pressure plate) lets them rev (and fall) faster making them more responsive. Exhaust, rejetted or bigger carbs, bigger cams, hot ignition and alternator upgrades and depending on various factors some retain the points but rework the advance curve to work in conjunction with the other mods. Higher compression pistons and hi performance cam was part of the LeMans package. I imagine a variety of hotter cams can be obtained.

My 1976 Moto Guzzi has Brembos. I think Moto Guzzi has used Brembos, possibly exclusively.

@@escapadoenophileetcafeolog2522 I did road trips on a II Stone which I have ridden for 14500km. If your legs are not too long, up to 400km per day is okay. I would not recommend more. For longer rides I recommend thicker gloves to reduce the vibrations at your hands.

Hi David, well, the V7 is lighter and smaller and has a soul. The R9T is heavier and bigger and no soul. That is the main difference imho. The R9T is refined, no imperfections, hence why it has no soul but the V7 is unrefined, has imperfections which is called "character" but often that is what endures a rider to a Guzzi. I personally would take the V9 Bobber over both of these :) Good luck with trying to decide...heh, let me give you a tip, let your heart decide and you will never regret it. Cause you can compare and consider till you're blue in the face but in the end it's like picking a girl friend...let your heart decide...and you will never go wrong...until you get served divorce papers...LOL! Dave , I've owned 3 v7s , small bike, slightly underpowered, shaft drive, abs, traction control, a blast on backroads, riding position is neutral, reminds me of a modern 1976 bmw r75/6. The bmw r9t is much more aggressive, riding position is sport, with wide bars, much more power, more money, it's up 2 u, I would test drive each one, I'm on a touring bike right now, dont forget no element protection on either bike, lots of wind, I personally still like the guzzi, it keeps u out of trouble, it wine's and pulls nicely , makes u think ur going faster than u actually are, if I could have 2 bikes that would be my choice good luck

I liked the V9 better primarily because I'm on the very heavy side and it fits me a bit better. Both a nice tame bikes and nice for beginners or those who love to just take it easy. It would definitly be a second bike for me. In other words, I wouldn't only just own this or the V9 at the same time. You'll get a little too bored. Just my opinion of course, do whatever you like, but I need a little speed in my life too.

I've had bikes that beg for more throttle. They aren't comfortable unless you're going double the speed limit. I'm not a bold rider, I'm an old rider. This seems to be just the ticket for my riding style.

Love my 2016 Guzzi Stone V7-II. But transmission, clunky? Try my Harley Davidson softail. (Which is matte black.) BTW: Beautiful scenery on your drive. Mine is "rosso impetuoso." Tank, only. Digits on instrumentation is hard to read, tho; too small. Tank at 5.5 gallons is bigger than my Harley. Shaft drive, ABS, traction control. Speaking of cool, transversely mounted V-twin keeps its cool. And you don't feel the heat. If you don't have a full-faced helmet (mine is a half-lid) you will want some kind of windshield. Unique enough in the States that it always gets some attention at bike night. You are right, it IS a looker. And it should be ridden in relaxed mode. Installed handlebar-end Lanesplitter CRG mirrors. Wish it had self-canceling turn signals. Good review, tho.

I suspect your right handgrip will wear out much earlier than the left one. You must be Italian, you seem unable to speak without accompanying your words with dramatic hand gestures. I worry about your safety in heavy traffic, as it takes longer to reach the clutch while in the midst of an energetic gesticulation! But otherwise I agree 100%, I succumbed to Guzzi love in 1976, when I first saw an 850T in action. The 750 Sport fuel tank of 1972 has remained the most beautiful and functional shape of all time, and it is included with the Stone. I think the Special captures even more of the beauty, but at the cost of more polishing. Remember this model descends from the 350 and 500 originals, so it is small and a bit slow. But the V Twin has its own sweet voice, like a classic BMW - they have a sweet spot at cruising speed, which the faster sports bikes lack. Those bikes make you accelerate all the time, they are unhappy at constant speed, but the Guzzi/BMW design just lulls you into relaxed acceptance of their chosen pace, where everything is fine and dandy indeed. I just have a hard time deciding between the green, blue or yellow tank versions of the Stone. The Mk III is the best version of them all.

"gesticulation" good one! This only happens to me on Moto Guzzi's. And no worries about traffic, a Guzzi dose not deserve to be in that type of environment! Only slow, winding, twisting country roads, relaxed, calm, at one with mother nature. :)

I like the review, I own one, but 1 think u emphasize to much is to relax, this bike will carve! No its not a rr but coming off a bmw r1200r and also owning a honda 600rr, I am familiar with spirited riding, ur making it sound like a upright goldwing, which it is not, no it wont dive into a chicane corner or I'm sure the brakes will get spongy after extreme braking, but it does handle and will tolerate some peg scraping although the pirelli tires suck! This is a great bike, reminds me of a. 1975 bmw r75/5 with modern technology

Thank you. I think you are confusing the emotion the bike exudes with it's performance. They are two separate things. But no bike has ever "hit me" with so much emotion before and I wanted to communicate that to the person watching this video. Simple. Glad you agree with me on that. But YES the bike can perform! I love it! Ride safe, Scott

I love hearing people talk about how little power this bike has, when one of my cars has even less.

The reason its cool is because like a Triumph Bonneville its not TRYING to be cool . The antithesis of Harley Davidson and its "In your face cool " ... which is why it ISNT !
