    Such a timely video for me. I am planning to sell my 1250gs because I cannot tolerate the mechanical sound from the frontend. Was wondering if I should get the 1300 gs. Guess not anymore. Will probably get an xr.

    on my clunky QS the shifter will be smooth when shifted at the natural shift point. The shift point increase with the gear so if 2-3 is at 3k 3-4 will be 3.gk and 4-5 4K - just my experience I get that a QS should shift smooth outside the natural shift point but i have to work with what I go -DL800

    Hi Scott, great review as always👍 Sorry for the question, but I have to ask you: I'm looking at the moment to buy a new adventure bike (only roads riding, without any off road), and my choice is between mid class 2024 Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro, or 2024 Africa Twin Adventure Sport Manual ES. I've tested the Tiger and I really like it, unfortunately I can't test ride the new Africa, but from all the reviews sounds like a great bike too. Which one would you prefer, because you rode both of them? Thanks.

    Thank you! For me I'd take the 900 GT Pro not the Rally, especially since you don't need off-road or unless you are tall, then the Rally. The AT is good but it's clinical/sterile and is just a tool like a car to get from point a to b.

    Interesting - I’ve long preferred the air/oil cooled boxer engine from this model over the later LC models, both in terms of feel and sound. However, I’ve tested or had an R Nine T as a loan bike many times since 2015 and all I can say about the suspension is “boneshaker”. Head over heels the worst suspension on any bike I’ve ever ridden. I recently had the new R12 and it’s even worse. Feels like there is no rear suspension at all. The other slight negative is with the intake/exhaust from back to front instead of top one bottom on the LC engine, I keep whacking my shins into them. It’s a nice looking bike and the low seat height and lower weight compared to something like a GS make it accessible to much wider range of riders. The real challenge for BMW is the wide availability of mint low mileage used R Nine Ts below half the price of a new bike. If I were in the market I’d seek out a used minter.

    Great review!!! You said the seat wasn’t as comfortable and plush as the 1250, what about the Suspension, can you still get the plushness and “Cadillac” feel on the 1300 that you get on the 1250? Or does the Sportiness of the 1300 not allow that plushness of smoothing out the bumps in the road as well as the 1250? Also, how about the Ergonomics, are they all-day comfortable? Thank you for your awesome reviews. 🤠

  • @NothingToProve

    Thank you! Yea, just put it in Road mode (softest suspension setting) and it's nice like a Cadillac. In fact I just leave mine in Road mode all the time, only when I'm feeling sporty do I move it up to Dynamic and that is rare, after all this is an ADV bike 👍😊

    Hi! I’m a follower from Italy and really like your reviews and your style. I tried this BMW today and I’m quite disappointed. The seat is horrible, small and hard. The brakes are weird, no modulation. There’s lot of on-off in every gear. Then it’s for sure easy to handle and quite funny but the price is crazy for such a bike. One month ago I tried the nineT 2024 version and there’s no comparison. I own a 1250 gs and a Daytona 660 Ciao!

    Thank you! Interesting, it seems like the bike you rode didn't get set-up correctly (brakes & throttle response). Seat AGREED! But it's a cruiser style bike, so I kind of expect that kind of seat from a cruiser. I've never been able to ride a cruiser longer than a couple of hours and want to get off and this bike is the same. Take care, Scott

    Thank you Scott for the awesome and honest review! I just rode one for a few miles, but my observations echo yours. I rode the trophy edition. I had trouble turning the power back on after I shut it off. Good thing I was at the dealer. They told me to hold the Fob up to the power switch. THAT was silly! I'm not sure the ESA ever changed, could it have been turned off? The front end dove when braking and lifted under throttle, and that was in Road mode. It was like a cheap used 1990's bike. What's the point of the Telelever again? (Rhetorical). It was without feeling on dirt, as they are, and I'm ok with that! The throttle was snatchy, especially in second gear, (also in Road mode). Typical for BMW, the engine lugged noticeably if you entered a round-about in third. That didn't change. BMW Boxers don't have much gear overlap in my opinion. My other twins don't notice a one-gear difference. HOWEVER, this new make-over felt instantly at home. It's like they copied the styling of the Honda NC700X or NC750X. It felt as light as those (except for getting it off the side stand), and even looks like them a little! The comparison ends there. Can the windshield be programmed to remember the preferred height? I had to set the "Sandwich" button to Windshield because it I had to raise the shield to full height every time I started the bike. BMWs have as many quirks as my Moto Guzzi. The Guzzi has a button for the heated grips though, and ride modes change instantly.

    Question. Does the Gsx-s have engine vibration as the revs climbed? I have a new 2023 and the higher the revs the more vibration that comes through the bars, the seat, the foot pegs and the gas tank. Is this normal? My mirrors are blurry at any rpm above about 4-5k too.

    I just spent a week on the r2300gs through the Pyrenees. Loved the handling. Loved the wind protection. BMW cases were ordinary (central locking is just much slower & less convenient than a key). Shift cam noise is terrible, and occurs at a rev range you'd otherwise happily lumber along at. Electronics were patchy. I kept getting complaints that the lights weren't working (they were) with only 700km on the clock. A few starting issues too. I did find the seat comfortable though, doing 1800+km in the week

    I don't like the look of the wheels, wire spoke wheels suit this bike much better. But they are an option, and I guess will add weight that could make the bike closer to the original. But cost more. 😊

    The new bike has a quick shifter that the predecessor hasn’t, but the older gearbox in my opinion was very satisfying. I don’t mind clunky. I like to feel that hardness in these bikes. But for the one who values quality smoother ride, this R12 is much smoother that the r nine T. The seat is softer and more comfortable, but. I felt a bit crushed in the bike. The digital minimalist screen is cute, but on a bike like this I would go for the analog clocks. The gas tank lost 1 liter of capacity in name of beauty and of the new frame which is more compact, inclusively the air box intake is now undercover ( it’s change that aesthetically I didn’t appreciate, the external intake design). The suspension is filtering better the irregularities of the asphalt which also adds comfort to the bike. And the keyless solution, for me it’s an error on a bike that has a retro vibe, feel of the mechanical functions and design. I fancy the key to turn on the bike. I have a R nine T 2022 Scrambler and I’m not trading. On that opinion I’m with Scott here.

  • @paulwalker797
    @paulwalker7972 күн бұрын

    I agree. I will keep my R9T scrambler... a much better, and more robust bike than the new models. I found the build quality to be cheap on he R12, rigt down to the iinsubstantial sde stand. Who needs a quick shifter on such a bike?

  • @Fernando90054
    @Fernando90054Күн бұрын

    Yes, that’s also what I think. The bike doesn’t need a quick shifter. I find the digital little screen cute, but I also prefer the analog clocks. And mainly, on our R Nine T’s who need keyless technology? I don’t need it at all. Mine is fine and it’s becoming better and better as I ride it more 👌🏻

From other reviews it sounds like the BMW OE panniers are fiddly to use/mount. Is that true? Did you just go Touratech for a better price deal or you simply prefer their system/quality build over BMW oems? Keep those reviews coming, always very interesting to watch

    Nice laid-back review. Like your style. Small changes, not much difference really. The biggest PIA with the old model was you had to remove the petrol tank to service the air filter and battery. If you can now get access to those by simply removing the seat, then that's a big plus. But is that the case?

    I'm 28 years old, applying for MD/PhD programs, and I found an outlet through wanting to start riding to get away from the monotony of my studies. Man, you don't know how much your channel means to me. I absolutely abhor the riding community because it seems like a bunch of egocentric people who are entitled to use the road as they please without regard for the consequences for others. And since it supposedly looks cool, guys on channels perpetuate that mentality because it gets views. Motorcyclists, to me, seemed like a bunch of people who wanted to keep up with a certain self-image instead of the enjoyment of the ride. But your channel made me enthusiastic because I see myself doing what you do. Enjoying motorcycles because you enjoy them and bringing your family along for a fun time and a bonding experience. Thanks for being a chill dude and a good inspiration to current and future riders like myself.

    Good job Scott, and thank you for sharing your tests, always a pleasure to watch! I am not sure the db readings would have been the same on eco, rain, road or dynamic mode though ... I ride both a 1250 GSA (2020 with stock exhaust) and 1200 GSA (2011 with akrapovic exhaust). On the 1250 i think that it is possible to notice a difference in noise engine at similar revs for different modes, but i am not sure that that would be picked in the db readings ... From your video, were you on dynamic mode for both bikes every time? i guess so ... Anyway even if the 1300 appears to be a little quieter at low revs and the 1250 a lot quieter at high revs ... but it seems that the new 1300 systematically grinds and rattles a lot more at all revs and at a higher pitch than the 1250 ... in terms of noise level, this is bad news, since the 1250 is already less pleasant than the old school 1200, which sounds more rounded, somewhat deeper (lower pitch), almost rattling-free and more pleasant at any revs than the latest models ...
