Why do reviewers focus so much on colors and plastic vs metal or glass? I can't recall the last time I saw someone with a phone that didn't have a case. I don't care so much about the camera as well but it makes sense covering it since a lot of people love snapping pics with their phone. It'd be great to segment the reviews so people can skip over these individual aspects if they give zero cares about them though.

I always thought the “premium material” talk is nonsense that in turn encouraged the dumb sealed designs basically every phone nowadays has with no removable battery. I’ve held a variety of phone builds and frankly there isn’t even much of a difference, it’s really just a marketing gimmick. Also honestly yeah never cared about the camera myself, on the other hand I absolutely need a headphone jack and refuse to ever buy a phone without one.

It is one of the first things you notice when getting the phone. Not many people should care about the look or material unless the quality of the build affects the usage. At most, the material only needs to be mentioned, but not a whole segment.

I work on phones and I've sat in design meetings where these are talked about... and you are right on. The phone makers need to drive down cost and spend money wisely. Vast majority of the consumers will get a case for drop protection and increased grip. Spending money on fancy backcover is just non-sensible. I don't work for Moto but I think most of their choices on how to spend money are well considered.

I had the first generation Moto G, and that will forever be what the Moto G was supposed to be. Compact, affordable with no gimmicky designs. Now they're all the same as other big phones with camera bumps, notches and curved screens. I wanted to try the Moto G again after so many years but was put off by how many models there are.

Ok the title of this is confusing... It says it's comparing moto models, but it's more a moto hit piece. But, the title is more likely to attract people who want a Moto. If that was the point... how about comparing it to another make.... in the price range. Tell me why a galaxy A14 (the samsung offering of my carrier in a similar range) is better than a moto 5G 2024, and does it double chop to flashlight like the moto. What I really wanted from this video was whether the MediaTek in the power was all that much better than the Qualcomm in the 5G. Because the Moto G with a MediaTek I've had before was a complete dog.

When Motorola got sold to Lenovo, things jumped the shark for Moto phones. They’re starting to do decently on the Edge phones and are competitive with their Razr phones. However, the G lineup has really been lacking since at least 2020 or 2021. Each year, Motorola G phones had worse specs than the previous model and their software support is very weak. Yeah they get a decent amount of security patches but they are the worst Android phones on OS updates. I mean, how hard could it be to release a phone and then support that phone for at least 3-4 years on OS and 4-5 years on security patches? Motorola has a lot to enjoy especially if you’re a fan of stock android and things like the Moto actions you don’t get anywhere else. Motorola wants to run with the big dogs on Android like Google and Samsung but they go cheaper and make mediocre phones instead of taking real risks on solid devices. It’s sad too, because Motorola is way more stable than Pixels and their setup is almost identical to them. It’s like having a Pixel without the bugs and glitches but Motorola is going to have to up their game or risk going the way of LG.

I went from an LG G7 to a Moto G Play 2021.. and still using it. It has very low specs (even compared to the older LG G7), and didn't notice a difference in overall performance. Sure the camera isn't great, but does the job (the battery life is great).. but somehow I get through each and every day doing what most other people do on their phones., browse, text, call use GPS... and don't think twice about it. It's only LTE but speeds are fine, it rarely stutters or takes more than 2 or 3 seconds for a page to load or for GPS to pick up a signal. Now, I'm not a gamer so can't speak to that, but if my three year old low end Moto G still works fine, I have to believe the newer models will work even finer ;)

Interesting that they got worse after I bought mine. My current phone is the Moto G42 and most of these problems don't really materialize. Sure, it still a 60Hz panel, but it's also OLED and 1080p. The cameras aren't excellent but there is a 50mp quad pixel main sensor, a macro and an ultra-wide. It also has NFC, which confused me about your comment on the "long awaited function". It also never stuttered or crashed at all. The phone came out in the summer of 2022 and I got it in September of the same year. Have no regrets with the phone or any concerns to speak of besides the lackluster camera quality, which is expected for a phone that cost only 230€ at the time. I usually keep my phones at least 4 years and I don't see a reason not to do the same with this one. The adds on the software also shocked me. I don't have any adds now and if they continue down this path I will definitely not get another Moto phone in the future.

I work in the phone industry and these videos really make me wonder how much the reviewers know about technologies and the level of investment from the device makers to all of their suppliers. Moto G family is about as cheap as it can get that still provides decent performance and quality. There are some expectations that the phone makers give these phones away for zero profit and then provide endless of updates beyond 2 years, of which time most people replace their phones anyways. I suggest to work a day or week in the industry and realize the amazing job the industry is doing... With McD meal pushing $18-$20 and weekly grocery run hitting $200-$300, why are there so many complaints for a phone that cost as low as $150 (or less).

The Moto g series phones to the reviewers point do struggle in bright light situations when you take the phone outside it's barely visible also I would say Motorola was never in the conversation for having great cameras I wish they would give better camera software support to the Moto g series phones those are the budget and mid-range phones that they sell the most so I would think that they should give more emphasis on the things that people care about the most when it comes to phones those phones do have great battery life I must say they have a clean software as long as you don't get a carrier phone that will give the phone bloatware in apps the design is fine it looks good and clean but the two things that I think they need to improve on is the camera software support and updates and also maybe better Haptic feedback and better displays

Honestly I think the Moto G (much like Motorola’s phones in general) peaked at the Moto G 3rd gen. That felt as great as a budget phone from them would ever get, especially considering it was around $200 and the Moto X was around $400. There’s been too many half-assed attempts to expand the line but still made odd compromises that other budget phones were able to start including (NFC largely). With the Edge phones being extremely dull, the Razr falling further behind the Z Flip series, and their inconsistency with software updates, it’s going to take another smash hit for Motorola to become a serious threat again. My best bet would be reviving the Moto X with Moto Maker and hopefully a new Droid phone. Let those try and perform well and if they do, they can trickle it back down to the Moto G series

Idk man, the only thing i see moto failing at in this price point is maybe the screen since Samsung is offering oled on their a series but thats not a huge selling point to me at $300 or lower. My a25 5g is a "get by" phone at best. Sure it has nfc, bt 5.3, 3.5 jack, 120 hz and an oled screen...but its touch response is trash. Good luck typing like a person actually trying to be optimal on this phone lol. UI can also be super laggy. The lower the battery goes the slower the touch response gets....somehow. Theres no karate chop flashlight...god i miss that. If the moto g power 5g can achieve 1k peak brightness outside like the a25 id see it as a better phone. Samsung immediately tries to tie you into all of their samsung trash the second you set the phone up. Idk...i liked my moto z4 better than this a25. Thing is slow. All of those ads on the moto can be destroyed with a free dns solution that blocks ads...there are quite a few.

I've had the Moto G Play (2020) for a few years now and it is the worst phone I have ever owned. I don't need "fancy", I just need useable. It is so full of bloatware that I can't even use apps that I actually WANT on the phone. And most of them don't allow you to delete them. It's infuriating. I went ahead and ordered the Moto G 5G because they offered it at $60. Nothing could possibly be worse than what I have now. I get the new phone in a few days. Hopefully, even if it's not great, it's better than what I have now. Time will tell!

And yet, all of you do is read specs from a spec sheet. these are phones, telephones, but you only talk about screen, cameras and software. what about actual telephonic features? yeah, you know nothing about it
