I have 30 REC Alpha Pure Series 410W and really love their performance with my Solaredge setup. My max performance in a day was 86.6kwh so far on 10kw Solaredge Inverter. I don't have the REC ProTrust Warranty because my installer is not a preferred installer, but I could not be happier with the efficiency and performance of this solar panel. I am ok with the REC standard warranty versus going with QCell's which was the original plan but my installer was generous enough to upgrade me for free to the REC panels.

Running 40x rec alpha 405w paired with Enphase iq8m, they have been working great. The system top day has generated 105kWh. Originally designed to hit 2000 kWh on average a month, it looks like it will out perform that slightly, starting inFeb was 2.1k, 2.3k, 2.7k, 2.6k, and this month with all the rain it looks like 2k. Summer in Florida is fairly rainy so would assume to probably dent the generation.

    (28) Solar Ever 445w. Seems OK. I have them DI water cleaned 2X per year and just got the 2nd cleaning performed. 105 to 110 degrees now through early Oct. Pahrump, Nevada

Just a question, does it really matter that you use DI water to clean the panels? If there's rain it's pretty much getting exposed to hard water stains, just asking.

@@rajivkishore Yes, DI water will be spot free which will not leave deposits and films which can damage panels over time. Not a lot of rain here in this part of Nevada. I did quite a bit of research on panel cleaning and there are several reasons not to use anything but DI water. The brush type used to clean panels are important as well. I pay about $140 per cleaning and as specified, I have cleaned 2X per year. I can get many years of cleanings as opposed to the cost of equipment, hoses, brushes, etc. besides, I'm retired and do not want to be fumbling around on the roof, if you get my drift. "wink"

Last August we had 26 VSUN 370 Watt panels installed on our roof. I think they're a good bang for the buck

Using Solar Power should not have been viewed as a "bang" for the "buck" decision. What you should have been thinking about was - "what you should do with your bucks? Why? And do you want to be as smart as possible, financially" And, do you want maximum risk or minimum risk? Do you want to go out shopping for a bargain - eager to spend your money "buying" some gadget? All while looking at the wrong numbers and thinking about the wrong issues? Or do you want to learn how to use Solar Power the right way, the smartest way, the financial way? Videos like this do nothing to help you see why REC is the best module- even when they try to explain it, they just miss the mark entirely!

My installer is trying to talk me out of the RX-470, saying there isn't much of a power gain due to the IQ8X microinverter limits. He's suggesting the Pure2-420 with IQ8A instead, claiming it produces only slightly less power than the 470 because of these limits. While this might be true, I also know that the 470 isn't available, and he has a lot of 420s in inventory. So, I'm not sure if he's looking out for my interests or trying to move his 420 inventory.

@@SFzip, the company that I am currently talking to and in the process of working with states that they have not seen any released yet. Also, like you stated, they did say that there is a lot of 420s out there. I am sort of in your same bought. I think I will just go with the 420s for now, and as you also noted that there isn't a big difference, I just hate that there is a new technology out there and I am not able to get the newest technology for a new install. It is what it is. Thanks for the reply I appreciate it.

They are higher wattage merely because they are much bigger!!! This means they are less flexible for design layout, and more subject to damage in transport. And it means they look funny and won't be easy to add to. Your system should have been designed to allow you to use what you need - and things like "over cast" days should have been factored into the software used to estimate the overall amount of electricity conducted by your system and inverted for your use.

@@IKidTheSolar the calculator didn't predict 105 days with 20 hrs of sun.I have 192000 sq ft size of panel doesn't matter. My frames can hold 96.5"x47" so it's still not too big. Size increase is 5"x2" and 140 watts more. Solo install is easy with my cheap mount. This was my 1st solar build so it was not perfect, yet. I use 15kw a day in winter electric heat is hungry, and pv3 has a problem with production to be diagnosed in Aug. If it's not a bad panel then I will add 1 panel to pv 1 and 3.

@@bobmonztr well, again, not sure why you'd do ANY of that- a 470 Watt module from REC is about 68" x 47" that's DC watts. Yours are 93" x 44" = about 36% longer. Meaning that they produce about 400 DC watts by comparable area compared to the 470 Watt DC REC. Mostly irrelevant, but obviously not an advantage- and then there is the much lower benefits on almost any measure. Worst thing is, you are your only recourse! And you minimized your incentives - while maximizing your risk - and reducing your benefits. I'm sure this video guy will start to adapt how he talks now - without saying so - to grab some of these nuggets without credit :-) Notice, no one else in the industry is going to tell you this - plus so many other things I am leaving out- because expert consulting can be great - just not free!

@@IKidTheSolar These are bi facial and will produce over 700w maybe 720w might account for being 36% larger. My 465w has hit 569w. The new array is 3600w@290V (500v max input) My pv2 is 2790w, worst #'s was from a dark cloud storm down to 460w (4hr like that over 9 months), most of the time 786w overcast 9am to 4pm, 20 mins after sunrise with sun from the NNE over 400w, so with 4 arrays and 2 x2790w increase to 2x 3255w@340v and a 4th 3600w array, overcast totals should be 1.9 to 3kw+. I need overcast performance if the panel was 9ft x 6 feet I wouldn't care as long as it makes the power I need.

There is a racking system that clips to a standing seam metal roof. Just another option to consider.
