Most METAL Scale | HUNGARIAN MINOR
Музыка
In this video you'll learn all about the Hungarian Minor Scale. It's one of the most metal scales you can play, containing a minor 3rd, b5 and M7 for maximum evil. In addition to the scale, I'll teach you counterpoint phrases, chord progressions and even an etude to get familiar with the sound. So grab your axe and let's do this muhahaha

I'm an old Punk Rocker, and I find this channel a dark, bottomless well of knowledge. I was a trumpet player before I found the Holy String instruments I was fated to play, and Shred is putting a lot of knowledge back into my poor battered brain, I long forgot, with much new stuff, besides. Great channel, hilarious, imminently knowledgeable host. Respect!

I feel like Shred knows more music theory than Adam Neely, but doesn’t want to admit it
The amount of augmented seconds on this scale is deliciously evil, I approve.
Dude, that etude was better than 99.666% of any commercial album I've heard in years.
I'd never wanna learn music theory again without your jokes. They make theory tolerable lol
I've never seen somebody laugh with such a straight face ..

There's a Hungarian Major scale as well. That scale has some super "out there" modes, like its diatonic chords are a biatch to normalize into a progression.

hungarian major is like diminished scale with one missing note
I've been adding that sharp 4th degree in many solos where I've utilized the harmonic minor scale. Adding it at the right parts always gave such an awesome sound. It's so evil. Thanks for giving me more context in what it is I was doing.
Best lesson yet. Killer metal riff. You have the talent and the KNOW HOW. Bravo, sir.
Awesome. I experimented with this scale as a young guitar player back in the eighties. Thanks.
Almost certain that this scale is used in the last riff of Bathory Aria, the final lyrical+narrative song from Cruelty and The Beast, the concept album all about a fantastical and fictional (but very metal) retelling of the life of the Hungarian Countess, Elizabeth Bathory. It really wraps things up because A) obviously, the countess was Hungarian noble living in the late 16th to early 17th century, and B) it sounds evil as hell. I may be wrong about this, but every time that part of the song starts my brain just screams HUNGARY HUNGARY HUNGARY, especially because much of it is chanted by a choir. It sounds like a track that should have been in Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
The song was so good man. Please make it a full song I would listen to it everyday!
Sounds really cool even without any distortion
Exactly on the same mood as you ; I was always looking for , how to exorcise the evil and demons thanks to my guitar .. fortunately found your channel, and sold you my soul
One of my favorite scales to play and warm up with!! The theme from "The Munsters", is based on this scale!!
bro this song you composed at the end was the most beautiful fucken thing i have ever heard you are a gifted musician
Your channel shreds! Awesome job here
badass example of why this scale is great. someone else was asking about Orff. i would also like to see how that o fortuna sound got extended into the early symphonic metal.
De szép skála! :D
love to see more classical music breakdowns. O Fortuna, Hall of the Mountain King, Mars (Planet suite)... Some reaction videos would be cool ^_^ Love to see your reaction on Heilung (Lifa at CastleFest), Lord of the Lost, Powerwolf, etc

Loved this. Those are some drool worthy riffs
This scale does ooze evil. That minor 3rd interval to stetch to the #4 of the scale just adds so much, as much as I love harmonic minor. Hung minor has fun modes as well. Everyone loves Byzantine, and the Oriental Scale is also interesting, though kind of hard to use.

so many videos teaching these exptic scales, something I am perfectly capable of doing myself, but I want is good examples of usage so thank you for putting that in here.

Man, I play this kinda crap all the time... and I never knew exactly what it was. It reminds me of phrygian dominant. Which I also play too much. ( Your etude song at the end was badass. Reminded me of something King Diamond would do. ) So we know that sh1t is EEEEEEEVIL.

Brutal!
Thanks!
Double harmonic major. It's even sicker. This is a mode of it.
Jerry Goldsmith used this scale a lot for The Omen's soundtrack
Flamenco scales usable in shred would be interesting, not just usual Phrygian.

The middle finger you use for the keyboard in this video.... 😆 😂 were you in the key of F!!!!?
Shred is like Adam Neely for metal guitarists
I'm Hungary but my doctor says I should leave more major intervals between meals.
I thought this was the 4th mode or Neapolitan or Harmonic Phrygian scale, where it’s the same as this but with minor 7th. Some of the other modes of that scale sound very funky (Edit wait that’s the Hungarian gypsy minor)
It may as well be called the Opeth scale.
Many thanks from a hungry Hungarian!
Brilliant
