@@NotTheLastOne Well, you may not call faking out thousands of people at a time genius probably because of all the acting and camera tricks, but that is what magic is, an act! Yep, it’s set up, it’s a show, it’s just a trick but I think the genius is in setting up the show and making and preparing the gimmicks. Yes, it gets disappointing at times to see how simple the trick is but some of us enjoy the show.

Witnessing the skill and ingenuity it takes to do these things without the audience noticing is even more amazing than seeing the trick the first time. if someone needs to KNOW how something called TRICK Is done, then he is an moron. every adult person with a minimal self awareness, self-esteem and healthy EGO is just happy to see tricks and fool themselfs.... people literally love it about magic. there is only small % of people who actually wanna know how tricks are done. regular people dont want to know, only those "not bright" are envy to know secrets, because deep down they wanna prove everybody around that "THEY KNOW HOW ITS DONE!" just to boost their ego...those people have big problems with self-esteem.

I think you’re confused.. the camera man was showing a lot more of the angles than anyone in the audience would’ve ever seen. Obviously if you could see every angle of a magic trick then people could catch on, the entire point of magic is misdirecting people, it hinges on you only seeing specific angles.

  • @Unbenttomcat

They do! As now people can pause, reverse, and even go frame by frame to analyze a trick. So certain shots would completely destroy the integrity of the trick. And AGT would likely see less magicians if they didn't care and just put up every angle for the world to tear apart the performance.

Because seeing the trick itself is just "ooh, magic", while seeing the explanation is "holy s#!t, the planning/skill needed for that is insane!"

Yea just like actors, mime artists, singers, dancers, play performers in church, pastors, lawyers and all performers... Coming to think of it, maybe magic is just another form of entertainment?

I am a former magician, if you will. Used to do it all the time, not so much anymore. The method of a trick is only 10%. What makes a great magician great is the other 90%, which is the presentation. So you hit the nail right on the head. Even the trick with the greatest method can fall totally flat with the wrong presentation.

Magic tricks are great and all but they don't hold much meaning without any proper execution to back it up. Even if you know how the trick is done, you can still be amazed at how well and convincing they made the act be, now that's magic.
