Some of the best Chinese food I ever ate was from a mom and pop where the plates and silverware did not match. Give me “good” food over atmosphere any time.

expensive restaurants are just man-made businesses out to take the money from your pocket... they pretend to be a certain way to try to get people to spend money. its all fake... the real expensive meals only takes place at bruce wane's house

I definitely enjoy good food prepared with hands of a dedicated cook that takes time necessary to bring out the best flavors of the food. Today's fast-food pressures of quantity and not quality means most restaurants do not have this achievement regardless of the ambiance. No to the make believe of gourmet food. I agree with you totally. Thanks.

I’m a cheap SOB too. I go to my favorite Chinese take out in Flushing (Chinatown); order Beef Chow Fun, and watch the chef toss my meal, with flames shooting up two feet above the wok. It cost me for a quart: $8.75(including tax). I walk one block, back to my apartment and enjoy my meal with tap water!

The Price is irrelevant if the food is worth $32.00 and I'm satisfied then it's a great deal. When they charge $32 for meal that is only worth 1/2 I would send it back. The places who make the $15 plate put more heart and soul then the $32 places 99% of the Time

Yup, feel the same way about expensive Chinese food. Its always just okay to good, maybe our taste buds are less amazed because we know the price. Nothing AMAZING though. There's places that will charge a slight upcharge because they are open late or serve a made to order menu. Two best examples are like Ping Pang Pong (open late. . . only really good at late night. . idk why) and my favorite dim sum restaurant, Lunasia in Southern California, which serves made to order dim sum. They charge slightly more, but both places quality actually justifies the upcharge. This is just rich people fluff.

Your video at Genting Palace for chow fun at $32 would make me faint. I'm sure you food for videos are tax deductible against the revenue views from KZread. Your rating of 6.5 is low for strip food. Better go down the street in China town (Las Vegas). My number #2 chinese dish is spicy pork chop.

@@dannythemedic To be treated well means the staff has to expend the effort to make it happen which in turn means $$$. It's not that complicated. If all you want is great food at reasonable price points, skip these types of establishments and go to Chinatown / authentic restaurants where the prioroity is the food, not the ambience. If you want to be pampered, then be prepared to pay for it. For me , I do both depending on how I feel at that moment. Good news is we have choices on how to spend our $$$.

I understand what you are saying. I believe that the different aspects of such dining experiences have nothing to do with one another, it is all independent and luck of the draw Aspects: Food / Service / Price / Employee Performance / At any given time and place, it can be a mix of any of those. In my experience, Paying High price does not mean great food. Paying Low price does not mean crap food. Getting Pamper service does not mean high price Getting Crap Service does not mean Low price Paying high price does not mean getting chef expertise etc etc etc So the only thing that is guaranteed when going to a high price place, is that you will be paying a high price. The credit card debt will be higher or the bank account balance will be lower or the cash in your safe will be less. that is all that is guaranteed. You dont always get Good food. I have been to places that was high price and did not come with good food. The reverse is true So the only thing that is guaranteed when going to a low price place, is that you will be paying a low price. You dont always get bad food. I have been to places that was low price and came with amazingly good food. the saying "you get what you pay for" is not true in the restaurant world!

The fancy is nice, but I don't have to have it. I'll stick to the "working man" places😊

I can make you a $1,000 beef chow fun. The beef would be aged for 65 days, and the dish would be garnished with gold paper.

$32 for beef chow fun is such a ripoff. You are paying extra for the place, not the foods. Don’t be a sucker next time. Go for the foods, not the decors.
