Most Common Motorcycle Mod 2 Mistakes [6. Safe Following Distances]
Another video in the series documenting the most common DAS motorcycle Module 2 mistakes. This time we are looking at maintaining safe following distances when riding a motorcycle in preparation for the DAS DVSA module 2 test.
Passing your DAS DVSA motorcycle module 1 test & module 2 test can be a challenge, as there's so many road safety and machine control procedures to remember when learning to ride a motorbike. Take your time to practise the new skills you learn whilst on your motorcycle lessons.
Thanks for watching. Please comment, like, subscribe & share.
See you soon,

Hi Leanna, wanted to pop by and say a huge thank you for all of your uploads. Passed my Mod 1 and 2 last week at first time of asking with just a couple of minors (silly mistakes). While learning, have managed to go through pretty much all of your uploads and they were an immense help. There are a few similar channels around but for some reason i always ended up coming back here, something about the way you convey it was just more simple to understand and stuck with me. Keep it up!

Hey there, this was incredibly valuable - I, unfortunately didn't pass my mod 2 on Thursday due to following distance (Kicker was this was at the end of the test, DOH!) Completely understand the examiner's comments, ultimately this is for my own safety. Awaiting the next available slot which should be in 8 business days from now and have been leaving the recommended distance in my car just to drill it into my head. Ride safe!

great video. reminded me of the other night. a moped over took me and rode impatiently behind a car, nearly crashed when the car broke, then nearly rode into central reservation, and then tried to over take while car in front of that was turning right. sheesh. fortunately i’ve got to the stage in my life where i don’t sweat having 49cc mopeds overtaking me on my 1200cc.

Hi Leanna, good point at 10.30 too close prior to overtake... And to this day I'm still amazed that some advanced riding suggests an 'overtaking position', which draws you closer to the rear of the target vehicle.. Not safe advice in my opinion.

Thanks Graham. Overtaking is a tricky business isn't it?! Lots of principles out there which some people favour over others and will argue very strongly about 🤔😬
Hi Leanna, its Meeee! 😂 I watched your other videos while i was on holiday but had no time to comment 😂 i have been back a week but they put me on days to run that shift instead of the night one 🤭just found the time now to comment on yet another great video that helps a lot and confirms things i do and things i don't but will do in the future. x Those safety distances i have found very important on a bike, i usually say in my head 10001 10002 10003 10004 depending on weather. Learnt it that way when i was learning to drive a car back in 2015. yes a late bloomer for car and bike 🤣 Only the other day i was holding back because i saw a car 3 cars up was indicating they were turning left in two lane traffic, a car behind me obviously didn't know why i was slowing down and why i was leaving a bigger space, as i anticipated the cars in front were going to slow down. Anyway he put his foot down to over take me, swerving to the right lane in front of a car on the right, then getting in front of me and having to slam his breaks on due to the cars in front putting their breaks on to allow the car to turn left, but by that time i had slowed down more guessing he was going for the over take and i was able to have plenty of time to slow without stopping 🤫 If id been to close to the cars i wouldn't of seen the indicator of that car, the car behind would be happy but I might not of had time to react. hope you understood all that 🤣 I hope you missed your little stalker🤣🤣 safe ride and stay healthy Your stalker Kev🤭

😂 Hello Kev, I wondered where you'd been. I hope you enjoyed your long holiday 😊 Well done with your forward planning & anticipation skills, very good 👏👏👏 Quite often a successful ride is determined by accommodating poor planning and driving by others. Sounds like you're doing a good job 😊 Nice to hear from you anyway 👋

Well spotted. On this occasion it wasn't necessary to do one having used the power to get away from the lights and with only one lane turning in that direction, there was no one merging with me. Glad you found the rest of the video helpful 😊

Hi Leanna, thank you for your videos - they are so much help. You are so lovely with your students, it is so great to see. I am preparing to do my CBT next week - am a bit nervous! - but these are really helpful as I prepare. Have you a specific vdeo on filtering? Thanks again.😊
I have a 125cc cruiser style. Pretty heavy for its power. It's almost impossible for me to get that close to the vehicle in front unless they're stopped. 😆
I count up to 2 when the car passes a lampost. Can you do that instead of the sentance?
@motorcyclelessonsuk
Жыл бұрын
Yes but it depends on how fast you say it. The sentence tends to be said at a regular pace so more likely to actually be 2 seconds. Totally up to you of course. Mississippis or Caterpillars, you can say what you like so long as it takes the correct time 😂
This might be a dumb question but I'm looking to start riding motorbikes hopefully by the end of this year. To get your A2 licence is an A2 bike provided for you by the driving school or do you need to have your own? Also can you ride A2 with L plates if you have your A1? The licences are so confusing 😢
@motorcyclelessonsuk
Жыл бұрын
Hello, not a daft question. The training school will provide you with an A2 bike. You cannot ride anything above a 125cc if you either have only a CBT or have completed the mod 1 & 2 tests for the A1 licence unless accompanied by a qualified instructor on a lesson. Hope that helps 😊

That's fine but it only encourages people in a hurry to pull out, if you are leaving a 4 second gap in wet conditions and there's an aggressive Bmw up your arse what do you do?
@motorcyclelessonsuk
Жыл бұрын
Staying safe is all about anticipating the potential hazard and accommodating for it before it happens, so if you're concerned a vehicle may pull out, cover the horn, be prepared to slow down, move position etc. What would you do with an impatient vehicle behind you? Would you rather ride closer to the vehicle in front and risk becoming a jam sandwich when it all goes wrong 😬? What other options do you have to stay safe? Thanks for your comments 😊
Only a fool breaks the two second rule and only a pratt goes faster than that, saying this in the wet takes four seconds 😀

Haha yes we occasionally use something similar, though probably best not to type it on here for rear of ruining my professional persona 😉🤣 Thanks for your comment 😊
