The Maverick 88 Security model (7 round tube) was my first firearm ever. I’ve had it for 7 years and not had a single thing go wrong with it. Best $200 ever for a firearm in my opinion

Just got this same gun. Had to order it and it took almost a month. $254 out the door. Definitely worth the money and the wait. They're always on back order because they're damn good guns at a ridiculous price. Get one if you can.

Hi Mixup! Another fine fine video friend! This brings back memories of my father, his brothers and my brothers and cousins. Your son seems like a chip off the ol' block. Im sure you are very proud of him. Ps...that mossberg 88 is STILL the best $200 dollars i ever spent!!

I was lucky to find one at a pawn shop brand new I added a 18.5 barrel that was a hunt in it self right now I added a hogue 12 LOP I also purchased the opsol adaptor to add capacity to my mav I absolutely love it! Thanks for adding another maverick video!

Your Maverick 88 videos are your best. For the money they are the worlds best. The 500 may be a bit more classy but in reality the Maverick is an exceptional good value Shotgun and if you consider the end result it is the same for both.

Thank you for sharing. I just bought one for home protection. I used one 24 years in the navy. They can take a beating, simple to use. I mounted a muzzle brake and recoil stock. Kicks less than a 22cal rifle now

We love old TV and movie westerns here. They're the perfect antidote for the bad news coming every day now: men were men, women were women, nobody was confused about it. Yes, there were bad guys as there have been throughout history, but you could shoot 'em and everyone knew you'd done a favor for your community.

I don't have much use for a shotgun in my 2 bedroom apartment. But I picked up a single shot ATI Nomad. It's a lot of fun and folds to a compact backpack size. With that said, this Maverick is the other option I was looking at and have seen so many good reviews on. Thanks for the content.

I really like my Maverick 88. I've got the shorter version with the 5 round magazine and the 18.5" short barrel. I've also got 2 additional barrels, a 28" barrel with variable choke tubes for bird hunting, (I put a wooden dowl in the tube so it only holds 3 rounds and is legal for waterfowl) and a 25" rifled slug barrel that takes a scope for deer hunting. It has always run flawlessly.

I’m a new gun owner down here at S Fl. This video is wonderful! It is well-made, very informative and funny too! I’d just recently ordered a mossberg maverick 88 field/security combo and wasn’t sure what type of ammo I should / could use. You, sir, had answered my questions! I appreciated that very much! I was planning on getting a KickLite stock to reduce the recoil. Those little 1 inch shot shells seem to be a very good choice. But boy it’s even difficult to order ammos now!

WalMart has standard 12 Gauge Federal 2 3/4" 7 1/2 or 8 shot for $19.56/100 here in rhe Philadelphia area. Catch them at the right time - no limit. Bought 400 today.

If you never shot a 12 gauge slug before hold it tight, and be aggressive, do not and repeat do not lean back or anticipate the shot. It will kick your butt newbies. It cycles nice, and feels good happy shooting. You will not be disappointed with this shotgun.

Love how you put at the end about picking up the trash. It is a shame when areas get closed because too many people just leave their garbage all over the place. I bought my heat shield on ebay several years ago. Mine is an original Mossberg heat shield and I believe it cost about $40 at the time. I don't currently see any original Mossberg heat shields on ebay and I don't know anything about the quality of the aftermarket heat shields being sold there. You will have to unscrew the front bead to install a heat shield on a Mossberg shotgun.

Man you guys are having a big time with that Mossberg Maverick 88.love the video guys.nothing like shooting a shotgun!

My go to, all around shotgun is a 12 gauge Mossberg 500A which I purchased "used" (I could not find any indication that a round had ever been loaded into the tube or chambered, much less fired, by the previous owner) several years ago. The 18.5in cylinder bore "riot barrel" with rifle sights makes for a nice home defense shotgun, I load mine loaded with 00 buck 3in shells as backup to my trusty old .40S&W chambered S&W DAO "Compact" pistol loaded with Hornady Critical Defense rounds. Since I also purchased an additional, longer, barrel my trusty 500A also serves nicely as a bird and small game gun not to mention as a deer gun where rifles are not allowed.

That's the fourth review of this amazing firearm. I guess I will go to the big 5 in Springfield Oregon. And see if they still have one. I can't buy a mediocre 9mm that will defend my home as good as that. One and done.

If a pistol get .45. Easier to get ammo. Ruger. 45 on gun broker $489, $579 retail.

if i had to choose one gun...it would be a mossberg 12, i've been casting my own .69 cal round ball. Getting 100 yard accuracy.

Who says you need a semi auto shotgun...? Especially when you know how to operate a pump! Well done you two! I always love to hear the sound of rounds going off at your range!

The relative cheaper price difference from the 500's comes from a lower cost of production. These are made in Eagle Pass, TX. right on the border. The County is Maverick and the year of introduction was 88'.

I loved West World when I was much younger and yes, Yul was very cool in that movie.

You've inspired me. I was kind of wondering whether I should keep my Mossberg. About ten years ago I asked my father-in-law to help me obtain a good home self-defense firearm. He took me to a gun shop and showed me a used Mossberg Maverick 88 which I ended up buying on his recommendation. Unfortunately it has been collecting dust since that purchase. Shame on me I know.. Well I figure It's about time I learn how to clean it, shoot it and have some fun with it and your video has been a good nudge to get a movin! Thanks for all your videos!

I absolutely enjoyed your videos. They are very enjoyable and I have learned much from them. have recently purchased one of these and I love it. Thank you and keep up the good work.

Mr. mixup98 always enjoy your videos, but I got to tell you the shotgun ones are special. One of the first videos I watched by you was when you got the Maverick 88 while still up north. Your son looks very comfortable with that one as well and just makes those target shots smooth. Been wanting to get one like that shotgun as need to become proficient with one (once owned an old Stevens .410 single shot which I no longer have...sure wish I still did). Looking forward to the 590 in the future. Thanks, sir and son!
