Moss Life Cycle Under The Microscope

Ғылым және технология

Mosses are seedless non vascular plants that can be found all over the world in damp moist environments.
Mosses have a unique life cycle in which the haploid stage (the gametophyte, n ) is the dominant generation. Once the egg is fertilized, a diploid sporophyte develops (2n) and produces spores which are dispersed into the surrounding environment.
The moss life cycle is as follows:
Spore - Protonema - gametophyte - Sporophyte
The magnification of each clip is included in the bottom right hand corner.

Similar to other plants. I use artificial light and I mimic the seasons (8-12 hours of light per day) and they are fine. You can experiment and see how much sun your moss likes. It might be fine with full sun all day. Keep an eye on it, water it and it should be fine.
