Mosaic: A Story Of Civilization - How To Play

Ойындар

In this video, we're going to learn how to play Mosaic: A Story Of Civilization! If you have any comments or questions, please do not hesitate to post them in the KZread comments below, ensuring you abide by our Code of Conduct: watchitplayed.tv/code-of-conduct
UPDATED in this newly released version of the video:
1. In the "SET UP: Trade Goods Tokens" chapter, removed an extra token that was in an illegal location on the board, and should not have been there.
2. In the "SET UP: Make the Tax & Tariff Deck" chapter, added the instruction that an equal number of Tax and Tariff cards should be used when constructing the Tax & Tariff deck. Previously, this instruction was missing.
3. In the "SET UP: Make the Build Deck" chapter, corrected the instruction for adding the Scoring card to the Build deck. Previously, it was instructed to split the deck in thirds. This has been changed to splitting the deck in half.
NOTE: At 15:02, Chaz accidentally uses 7 Food to purchase a card that costs 12 Food. (One of his Fish tokens, worth 5 Food, fell off the table right before he slid them into place, and he didn't notice the error.) Five more units of Food than what are shown on-screen should have been used to purchase that card.

    Chaz, wow, I Just love how clear and articulate you are in your explanation of Mosaic. No assumptions from you whatsoever and though some may see that as redundant or boring I think it’s great. I just feel bad Rodney only managed to score 3 points at the end of the game (lol). You are a great addition to this channel. Cheers!

    At 2:06, I don't get why you place the tokens in those bottom 2 hexes. They don't show all six sides and so are incomplete/covered and doesn't the rulebook say to not add them to there? Just seems a little confusing why those incomplete hexes were chosen to have a token but others weren't.

  • @WatchItPlayed

    @WatchItPlayed

    10 ай бұрын

    Great question. If a hex space has 6 sides (even if some of some of its sides are shorter, due to being cut off by other graphics on the board) then it is considered to be a complete hex space, and a token would go there. That's why tokens would go in those two spaces shown in the example: even though the box area those hexes (for Tax & Tariff cards, Holding Area, Military, etc.) overlaps those two hexes, the remaining portion of those two hexes that are shown can still be traced to show six different sides. I hope this information is helpful. Cheers! -Chaz

  • @matebrunner5195

    @matebrunner5195

  • @WatchItPlayed

    @WatchItPlayed

    10 ай бұрын

    @@matebrunner5195 I can appreciate the confusion, but we work directly with the publisher on all our tutorial videos, so they are checked over before they go public. That doesn't mean a mistake can't sometimes slip through, but this was a specific question we asked the designer during the creation of this video and I can say with confidence, Chaz's answer above is correct. The unfortunate reality is that rule books sometimes contain errors, or aren't clear, and these videos give us a chance to make things clear, or correct those errors - this means sometimes the videos are more up-to-date than the rule books themselves. -Rodney

    Very helpful thank you! Last question I had was for the government tile, if you flip to replenish a row but then buy a new government tile you can now use the action again. So is it once per tile per game I.e. potentially 6 replenished rows, or if you switch governments but later buy a previously owned government back, do you now have the ability again or does it go into your play area already flipped to the used side?

  • @WatchItPlayed

    I double checked with the publisher, and confirmed that every time a player obtains a government tile, they receive it ready to use.
