Hey guys, long time no see! Missed ya! Great video as always
Thanks for checking it out!
I love the consistency of the video as to who does what part .
Thank you!
I believe you guys have the wrong link for the "How to Play Bonsai" video
All sorted - thanks!
Me: this game looks interesting, I've heard good things...let me see if there's a Watch it Played...oh, yay!! (pulls the trigger). Thanks again Rodney for an excellent video. My friends are always amazed at how good I am at teaching games. They don't know my secret...I only teach them Rodney games ;).
Always happy to be your secret weapon!
Brilliant as ever Rodney. Many thanks.
Thank you kindly!
So, on attachment to the initial trunk, to score a feature, it must match the feature on the trunk. So say trunk has a cloud. You play a branch off the trunk that has no clouds, say fireflies only. That is zero points?
Hey there, I usually do my best6 to answer all questions on my videos, but I shot this one long enough I don't recall the rules, and I lent my copy to a friend, so I don't have the rule book handy to look up the answer for you - hopefully you'll find this video covers it.
@WatchItPlayed ty. It isn't huge. Just the first move, I think we went with counting all the way back to the trunk. On the first move, that means if you don't match trunk features, yes, you can get a zero score move or moves
Great video! Where did you get your component organizers from?
Thanks! Those are Game Trayz. I believe I picked these ones up from the Board Game Geek Store.
So you can’t play the oceans version without the main version? Silly me I bought the wrong version first and thought I could play it? :(
That's right, this expands the original game, giving you new elements to add into it.
Quick question, when the game starts and you start moving one character, does it mean its your character? Or can you switch the charecter you were moving in the beginning with another suspect during your turn??
You'll find that covered here. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iJ2Wk66se5eynpc.htmlfeature=shared&t=67 You pick a character and that's the character you control and move during the game.
If you claim to have the Duke to take 3 coins and are challenged but show you DO have the Duke do you still take the 3 coins? Or is your action ended as soon as you are challenged?
If you prove you are what you say you are (or if you go unblocked or challenged), then what you were trying to do happens.
Wow, for some reason this video really stands out. I love your content always but this was a great video
Well, thanks for that! I appreciate it. I'm not sure what I did differently this time. Maybe it was my new socks? I'll have to stock up on more of these socks, because I'm pretty sure it was the socks. At least, I hope it was the socks, because I just placed an order for four hundred more pairs. Then again, maybe it wasn't the socks. Hmm. Want to buy some socks? -Chaz
What happens if I encounter my own family member at a tile which is not the police station?
Hey there, you won't find anything in the video about this, because nothing happens when that occurs - only encountering other player's family members causes something to happen. Don't worry about adding @ tags, I look for and respond to all comments. Hope that helps!
@@WatchItPlayed wonderful! Thanks a lot :)
@@ishansantra7367 My pleasure!
Great video! Just received Gest of Robinhood, excited to play it.
Mine has arrived, too! I hope you enjoy it so much that food loses its flavor and colors lose their luster for a week or more in comparison to the sheer awesomeness to playing the game. But, seriously, if that happens, you may want to go to the hospital immediately. -Chaz
It's funny that the BGA discussion came up. I am currently culling my collection, and a big factor with some of the games is whether it is on BGA and if I will play it analog ever again. I have a few that definitely went into the cull pile for that reason - like Azul, Barenpark, Gizmos, Cartographers, Trailblazers - to name a few. I am teetering on trading Earth, though I do like the game, but the scoring and rules management is SO MUCH easier on BGA. As is Pandemic, Potion Explosion, and Planet Unknown. There are also a number of games that may be easier to play on BGA, but I still enjoy the feeling of playing them in person, fondling their big fat chunky polyhedral tiles in my hand. So I'll keep them regardless.
For the bird card (blue) when you play it, you pay the left corner price. You then resolve the bottom of the card. Does that mean it's still available for a cube as an additional action this generation is was played in? So I pay the green leaf stuff when I play the card and then on my next action place the animal and the cube or is that all done when the card is played?
The action at the top is available to use in a future action (ie. it could be the next action you perform).
@@WatchItPlayed Omg thank you so so much for the quick reply!!!
For the state abreviation sheet you mention there is a link to download in description but I cannot see it. Can you add one please
You'll need a Board Game Geek account, but you can find it here: boardgamegeek.com/filepage/252688/votes-for-women-state-abbreviations
Great video as always. Thank you!
You're very welcome!
I recently picked up the game from Goodwill so I thought I’d check out the play through series. Really enjoyed it! I miss seeing Pep around on the channel. 😊
Glad you enjoyed Brian - have fun playing!
I'm really enjoying Forest Shuffle. I tried the alpine expansion on BGA, and may add it one day, but I'm still OK with the base game for now. My favorite games have giant decks of cards like Forest Shuffle does, so Vantage looks quite promising.
It's always nice when a base game feels complete enough that I don't feel it's missing something without an expansion. I'm glad Forest Shuffle is fitting that bill! :) -Chaz
In hindsight before you started with Cuba Libre would you have prefeed to start out with this, vol 2 of the Irregular Conflict Series from GMT as your gateway COIN game or would you stick with CL or maybe GMTs new intro People Power?
That's a tough call. I don't usually offer my personal recommendations, but I'll say this: I wouldn't start with Pendragon or Fire In the Lake :)
@@WatchItPlayed LOL agreed.
'Looks around for Chaz' whispers to Rodney "there's a new episode of The Climbers"
_Hey waitaminute!_ I will need to start keeping a closer eye on you two. Always up to no good! 🤨 -Chaz
I have every single expansion for Dead of Winter and every single promo card except for 2. I do not have Rodney's 2 kids as promos, I would love to complete that collection sometime.
For what it's worth, the Dead Of Winter promos for Andrea and Luke Smith are also available from the little shop we set up for the Rich Sommer and other Watch It Played promos: www.podpledge.com/project/382/The-Watch-It-Played-s-Promo-Store/shop. I hope this helps. Enjoy! -Chaz
lol, I fully thought this was a joke from a skit in this video, but nope… you can get his kids for your fame 😂
I'm super stoked to try Arcs (Root has been my favorite game since it came out), excited about the second printing of Earthborne Rangers, and quite curious about Vantage as a fan of open world video games.
All three of those are great picks. I'm also very curious to find out more about Vantage, because it sounds like it could be something a little different. I'm looking forward to more info about it being released. :) -Chaz
Um, obviously the card doesn't work...? Was this actually in question? It was clearly provided by the zombies!
Those crafty zombies! That's how they get'cha! 🤔 -Chaz
A Gest for Robin just arrived at my door today! So excited to play it. :)
Nice! I hope you get to play it soon, and that you enjoy it when you do. Cheers! -Chaz
😊I played monopoly yesterday
Thank you.
You're very welcome!
I like this trend of big games in small boxes. Hopefully more publishers will get on board and focus on offerings other than very large games with tons of bloated stuff
Waiting for the metal gear solid board game wish I got the preorder
Cool! I believe it's currently scheduled to arrive in July. I know it's been a while, so hopefully this latest estimate is accurate. Fingers crossed! 🤞 -Chaz
Bought today
Have fun playing!
Can you be locked in a room so you cant move at all if all the doors are blocked?
Yes.
Who on earth needs an expansion for Sky Team? I'm still working through the base game modules. Edit: I was happy to find out Rich Sommer is a board gamer. Then I read he started a podcast! Then I saw the last episode was 5 years ago. So many emotions in such a short time.
Yeah, I'm curious to see what an expansion for Sky Team would actually include. (That is, IF an expansion is even real?) And Rich's "Cardboard!" podcast was great! I especially recommend his episode about Uno. It's honestly one of the best episodes of any podcast I've ever heard. His genuine enthusiasm for the game shines through and is really enjoyable. -Chaz
I bought this game. It looks incredible and everyone online seems to love it. I went ahead and watched two lengthy videos On KZread about gameplay, with each video having over 50k views each. Still not sure exactly what the entire objective of the game is, and overwhelmed by seemingly endless options for each turn My Wife and I just invited two of our close friends over to play and figure it out. After removing all of the game pieces and constructing the birdhouse, we discovered the game gives you a "run-through" mini game to play first, apparently to learn how to play. We did this. None of us can say with any confidence that we know how to play this game. I play chess, GO, Monopoly, and dozens of other games. For something so popular, I am amazed that me and three other highly intelligent people, having spent hours at this point trying to learn how to play wingspan, still have no idea how to play it. Another close friend of mine plays this game regularly with his family. He told me that after playing with him, I would understand how to play wingspan. Strange that every other game I've ever played I've picked up within 3 to 5 minutes, and this one just seems like a weird mystery. I'm almost put off from ever wanting to learn simply because a game shouldn't have this steep of a learning curve. Games are fun. At least that has been my experience in life thus far. Am I the only one here that has had this problem regarding wingspan?
Rich Sommer #unexpectedoffice
That Rich Sommer sketch was awesome! Chaz is hitting it outside the park once again! :D
Thank you very much. I think it's easy to tell that we had a lot of fun putting that together. 😄 -Chaz
That zombie bit was too good! 😂
Thanks so much! 😀 -Chaz
Good morning! We got Sands in my friendly local game store and given the weight of that relatively small box, I'm pretty sure it's just a box of sand.
I know! I saw it at my local game store last week, and when I picked it up, I had the same reaction. That little box has some heft! -Chaz
@@WatchItPlayed That's the Devir effect! Some folks don't like how their games don't fit well back into the box, but honestly, I view that as part of the game experience! I love creatively fitting games back into their boxes. And it feels fantastic to get so much game in a small package and a very respectable price point. ❤Devir
Amazing video :) It's very clear how to set up and play! Just played this with my partner and had a blast, thank you
So glad to hear you're had a great time playing together :)
I acquired this game around six months ago. I just learned it now with this video. It looks great and im excited to get in to it!
Very glad you enjoyed what you saw - have fun playing!
Nicely done! Thank you.
You're very welcome!
I know the video is dated, but you are still so good. I just bought the game in french and I thought you made a video. Very good explanation because I find the rulebook not too clear. Thank you 😊
Never too late to discover a game that's new-to-you. Very glad to know the video was helpful - have a great time playing!
"Earth isnt only my home address" WHY WOULD YOU DOX YOURSELF ON CAMERA!?
GASP! WHAT HAVE I DONE?!! -Chaz
Thanks, which publisher's version do you have, with darker yellow flowers. Mine are quite light. Thanks.
This is the Osprey first printing, as far as I know.
@@WatchItPlayed thanks!
Can we look in our bag throughout the game?
You can count the number of chips in your bag, but you shouldn't be looking at the chips in your bag.
Thematically why does a car in a space with a chopper including your own destroy the car? Is it a collision with the chopper?
Hey there, good question, but that’s something the designer would need to answer.
Many times, when I’m interested in a game and I’m trying to decide if I want to buy it or not I come to Watch It Played. And more often than not, I audibly say “hmmm Let’s see what Rodney has to say”. I’ve referred to his videos not just to learn the basics of game play without having to read the rules but to help explain rules to my group. I haven’t watched this video yet. I’m shopping. 😂
I hope you have a great time playing if you pick it up :) Thanks for the kind words on the videos!
What are unimproved properties???
Properties without houses or hotels on them.
Would you answer a question on a video from 8 years ago?
Only one way to find out!
And I’m playing this game right now
Do the nobles move if a subsequent player fulfills the requirement for that noble to visit?
I'm sorry, I'm not quite sure what you mean by "move".
Please, what if I land on the property under auction ,what will I do??
Hey there, this question doesn’t quite make sense. When you land on a property no one owns, you can buy it. If you don’t, then it immediately goes to auction. The rules for auction are explained in the code if you’re unsure.
@@WatchItPlayedAll right. Thank you. It has been cleared.
