2004-12, I was a contractor who worked on tech pubs for LT, LSV 1-6, LSV 7-8, LCM-8, BD. I think we did some PMCS stuff for ST, too. The Army watercraft community was a great group to work with. We had retired 88K and 88L as well as a couple of Army Reserve who functioned as SMEs, tech writers. The process was not perfect, we had to work under the direction of NAVSEA Carderock, but it was a rewarding experience.

I retired as one of only 54 active E-7s in the field in 2018. I was looking at the 7 list and knew 51 of the names. loved the mos. started out on the LCU 2015 in the 329th in 1997.

WHAAAAAT.......?! The Army has Watercraft Operators and Engineers? And I thought, as a Marine and Soldier, Myself, that, solely the Navy and Coast Guard had Boatswain's Mate Rates.

@@jadenspires1891 both jobs have very profitable civilian career paths, as a Lima I’ll tell you the initial schooling can be hard to grasp, but I never studied in high school and even I was able to pass. Kilo school is shorter and easier but gets a lot harder with your later schooling. Both are a lot of working with your hands and there’s a lot of thinking and brain work involved. Personally it’s one of the best jobs to get if your thinking of your civilian career, it’ll teach you a lot.
