    this video is spot on what you will do if you choose to be a 15T other than it now take 15 weeks to complete your training at the school house its a better environment to learn in, than basic, and gradually does get easier. I met a LOT of great people there that I will never forget while I stayed there. I would recommend anyone this MOS because compared to other things I have heard perosnally from other people that re-classed (not to speak poorly of all my brothers and sisters in arms). this branch will take great care of you and help you understand any difficult subjects through your career. Not to mention the Instructors are there for you and are more than willing to help you understand any questions or concerns.

    I know its been 3 years since this comment so I don’t really expect a response, but Im planning on joining as a 15T and I’d just like to know about life out of the army how easy was it finding a civilian job relevant to what you did in the army what was that job and what company? Im mostly concerned with life after the army and I just want to know if getting a job in aviation afterwards was an awful endeavor or a fairly easy experience

    I could be wrong, so do specific research and don't go off my word, but you need the FAA endourcement to be an A&P and your unit could potentially sponsor ypu to get the A&P without the need of GI bill, amd you might, might idk need to do three years minimum to get it. Again do your own research

    No. The only math really used is for measuring and calculating things like shim stack ups. The more in depth "numbers" MOS' would be the B/D/N/F guys. T/U/R are just glorified parts changers. You pull parts off and hand them over to the guys mentioned before.

    How does a15T achieve a crew chief position?

  • @morganthorla685

    @morganthorla685

    4 жыл бұрын

    It depends on what company you get put into when you graduate ait, you could get lucky and go straight into a flight company but more than likely you'll go to a maintenance company first and then try to transition later. Also its better to go maintenance first imo so your proficient on the aircraft before you start crewing. I was in maintenance company for about a year before switching

    @@K-TRAIN_MUSIC An aviation unit with blackhawks will typically be split up into 4 companies. A,B,C companies will be known as flight companies. The Blackhawks of that unit "belong" to those companies. If you want to be a crewchief, you go there. However, almost every new 15T goes to D. Co first. D Co. Specializes in maintenance only. Flight companies will typically send their aircraft to D co for heavier maintenance. Normally what happens is flight companies will notify d co. When they need more personnel, at that time you may be asked if you want to go flight. If you say yes(sometimes there may not be a choice) you'll go to one of those flight companies. In order to fly you'll still need to pass special medical requirements for flying, attend academics, and then progress through training to be a fully qualified crew chief. In the meantime, you'll still be doing maintenence, washing aircraft, etc. Your basic job never changes, a 15T is a maintainer first, flying is just a bonus. Most people believe, including myself, it's better to spend some time in D. Co first learning to be a mechanic, getting used to things before you go flight. Hope that helps. Just know that flying is a cool perk of the job, but maintenance is always the top priority.

  • @f22pilotjc

    @f22pilotjc

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@K-TRAIN_MUSIC you also could be assigned to an ASB, aviation support battalion, whose only job is heavy maintenance. No flight companies. In that case, to be a crewchief, you'd have to switch to another battalion to fly. That's not impossible or anything, just a little less common than switching companies within a battalion.
