Kim Wilde, the very pleasant contestant here had a hit with View From A Bridge in the 80s which my elder sister played endlessly. Kim was/is the daughter of a 1950s UK pop singer/songwriter/Svengali Marty Wilde. I only mention it as some comments are asking who she is. As a footnote: the mix of music guests on this old show looks amazingly eclectic! Post-punk, pop, rock, 1950s throwback, new romantic…not to mention mullet Read.

I just want someone to make a playlist of the songs featured on this episode
Cutest Morrissey was winner @ my world.😊
This is quite tame compared to today's panel shows. After hearing that Morrissey regretted being on here, I looked it up expecting some Preston/Amstell style drama... To no avail...

maybe he was a sore loser :-) Seriously though, I dont see the problem here either. It's described as an "infamous episode" on Phil Lynott's wikipedia page...

sdrtcacgnrjrc Here. let me steal and mad-lib a joke: "Willies!", says Phil Lynott. "Stop that.", says Morrissey. "Tell my bum to stop that!", says Phil Lynott.
All those synths!
Miss you Phil.
As an American (who grew up in the late 70s & 80s) I Never heard of 75% of these songs.

As a Brit who grew up during the same period, I never heard of 90% :D. Don't even recall ever seeing this show and it ran for 15 years apparently.

I'm from Brazil, i know most of the songs and artists in the video but i obviously didn't know about the show. A British thing. Some of its ideas where used on regular tv shows here though.

@@luriankosovo8767 I liked playing out. You could argue it's weirder to be sat in at night as a kid watching something this dull.
Mike Read so underrated - a pop icon In himself - his part in pop history with these greats is very much forgotten by many…
Ohhhhhh, I really miss the 80s
Watching this and being sad that I wasn't born in the 80's

+Dean Quinn Been better have been born in the late 60's so you'd be a teen in the 80's. Being a baby or small kid in the 80's wouldn't have been the same.

+christschool Yeah born in Dec '69. I could answer most of the questions when it was first on and I was 14, and I remembered most of the answers when I just watched it again here on KZread, now that I'm 46 :)

His face when they were like ‘2 pts for morrissey’

HAHA morrisey got a phil collins question right lol, the shame
Morrissey giving coy looks to his lover sitting in the audience.

It's 1984 in the video. Phil died in 86. He did some songs before that tragic day. Man was indeed a genius!

Fantastic
Morrisey name this 1950/early 60 singers 11 top hits. "simple minds guy" can you name all the members of the band U2 (you know the band you have hung out with on several occasions, they are your mates)
Philip the Ledge... and Morissey...
Phil!!!
7:24 Singer was Awesome. Luv and Peace.
Gotta say it, but Kim Wilde is gorgeous, beautiful. 😍😍
They say never meet your heroes...you will be sorely disappointed.

It would have been interesting to see them jam together.
Richard Ayoade is SO much older than I'd realized. And his personality has changed considerably.

Wrong answer. Robert James Smith was lead singer of the Cure, not Robert E Smith. Think he was thinking of Mark E Smith of the Fall.

Did the set of Pop Quiz later become the set of Q.I. (with a few stylistic changes), or are the similarities merely coincidence?
I don't think he'll be back again...
Love this! Phil L!
Kim Wilde 😍
Well he should know Them because, as far as I know, Eric Bell played guitar with the band at some stage prior to being in Thin Lizzy.
13:16 yes
Did Morrissey have that look of realisation after answering Phil Collins.
4:40 why this song is muted ? Whats the title ?
13:56 😂
When music wasn't so MTV slick
Depechemode never been in this quiz coz They are so cool n avant-garde
How can you LOSE with Kim Wilde on your team?! :^P
Morrissey looking like a Young Will Young 😮
I reckon Morrissey let the side down a bit there.

Morrisey probably didn't come back because he was pissed off at getting carried away and correctly answered a Phil Collins question. Either that or the producers suggested he went on Phil Lynott's team multi-cultural team.
The Cure! ROBERT SMITH❤❤❤
Polystyrene
Kim Wilde, the very pleasant contestant here had a hit with View From A Bridge in the 80s which my elder sister played endlessly. Kim was/is the daughter of a 1950s UK pop singer/songwriter/Svengali Marty Wilde. I only mention it as some comments are asking who she is. As a footnote: the mix of music guests on this old show looks amazingly eclectic! Post-punk, pop, rock, 1950s throwback, new romantic…not to mention mullet Read.
Heaven knows how miserable Morrissey felt at the end of the show 😢😉
Moz is massively annoyed.
i wanted Morrisseys team ro win but Stardust seemed to know f#ck all...
