Moron
Moron is a delicacy of Samar and Leyte - particularly in Tacloban. It is a suman made with rice flour, glutinous rice flour, sugar and coconut milk which is cooked until it is thickened and then wrapped in banana leaves and then steamed. For the chocolate portion, you can use either of the following - tableya, chocolate block, chocolate chips, cocoa powder or sweetened chocolate. Some versions add some chopped peanuts but I personally prefer them without the nuts. I hope my version will do justice to the authentic moron.

I used powdered coconut milk.
Rose what can you substitute for the banana leaves. Love your videos. Left Cebu in 1967, I am not familiar with this recipe Moron.

Glutinous rice flour is powdered malagkit rice. Easier to use ang glutinous rice flour kasi hindi ka na magbabad nang bigas malagkit at magpa giling.
Can we buy rice flour in the grocery here in US?

Is there a difference po ng normal coconut milk na nabibili lang po sa market and thick coconut milk?

Canned coconut milk comes in two kinds - coconut milk and coconut cream. I use coconut cream if I need thick coconut milk. Btw, coconut cream is known as kakang gata or first extraction.

I used plastic string but cotton twine pwede din.
chef bakit po skin dumikit s dahon after n maluto at pinalamig.pati pagbalot po nadikit sya. bakit po kaya?

Hindi siya dapat dumikit kasi may margarine na sa mixture at naturally oily ang banana leaves. Practically nothing sticks to banana leaves after maluto. Please review the recipe ma'am baka may nakalimutan ka.

Ito ang tinuro sa akin sa taga gawa nang moron. Maraming para an ang pagbalot. Kahit anong style, okay lang basta ang resulta ay parehas lang. Version ko po ito. Thank you for your comment Sir.
