Mormon Stories

We recently visited Provo, Utah and were treated with a live interview and performance featuring Mindy Gledhill, including acoustic renditions of many songs from her brand new album "Rabbit Hole." Listeners of Mormon Stories Podcast may remember our earlier interviews with Mindy and we were very excited to get an update on her faith journey, and to hear the inspiration behind her latest project.
Her new album, appropriately entitled "Rabbit Hole", is the breathy confessional of a rapt soul who slipped down the curious tunnel of experience, landed in a hall of locked doors, and refused to be contained. In "Rabbit Hole," Mindy confronts the challenges of life-all its unfulfilled expectations, sudden detours, and existential wounds-and presents us with a silver lining through bouncy rhythms and ballads of unabashed optimism. In spite of life’s crucibles and crises, she reassures us that everything is going to be alright, and that “To be upside down is a fine way to be.”

What a lovely person and fabulous musician/song writer. I just found her music yesterday for the first time. Such a beautiful soothing voice that helps me relax and feel like everything is going to be all right. So comforting and relaxing. I'm going to buy all her albums.

My evolution away from LDS has indeed been a “crucible of fire. “ and I deeply, sincerely appreciate your ability to label it.

Wonderful human. So much talent and beauty in her and her music. I remember her song “Child of Light” years ago and fell in love with her voice. Good for her doing what feels authentic, empowering, and right. (I’m still active LDS but I appreciate these interviews. There’s room for everyone ❤️)

I was completely enamored by Mindy as a Mormon. I learned about her from a companion on my mission in 2009 and I had my parents send me her album to listen to on P-days. I left the church in October of 2018. This is the first I am hearing about her leaving the church. I am so in favor of this!! I still love Mindy's music.

I love anchor, and you are so inspiring to me. Right after my transition to atheism, I found you had also left the church, and I was elated! You were a huge support on my mission, and now your Rabbit Hole album is helping me now. Much love!

The 3:40 mark. My favorite song and the story behind it. Elders Holland's talk disturbed me so much, as did the audience laughing. Thank you for letting me know it wasn't just me. Wonderful job.

Leaving the church is so difficult to do. And the struggle is finding reasons to stay, finding ways to "make it work." But so many of us had to leave out of principle, not because we wanted a "patty-cake, tafy-pull"

OMG, my wife and I can relate to SO much of this! Making coffee out in the garage so the house wouldn't smell like it if the kids came over. LOL Thanks for sharing your journey that is unique yet so similar to what all of us have felt and gone thru on our own journey.

Screw Jeffrey R Holland. I will never question my new belief that whatever respect he once commanded of me was always a deep manipulation.
