Mormon Stories
We recently visited Provo, Utah and were treated with a live interview and performance featuring Mindy Gledhill, including acoustic renditions of many songs from her brand new album "Rabbit Hole." Listeners of Mormon Stories Podcast may remember our earlier interviews with Mindy and we were very excited to get an update on her faith journey, and to hear the inspiration behind her latest project.
Her new album, appropriately entitled "Rabbit Hole", is the breathy confessional of a rapt soul who slipped down the curious tunnel of experience, landed in a hall of locked doors, and refused to be contained. In "Rabbit Hole," Mindy confronts the challenges of life-all its unfulfilled expectations, sudden detours, and existential wounds-and presents us with a silver lining through bouncy rhythms and ballads of unabashed optimism. In spite of life’s crucibles and crises, she reassures us that everything is going to be alright, and that “To be upside down is a fine way to be.”

What a lovely person and fabulous musician/song writer. I just found her music yesterday for the first time. Such a beautiful soothing voice that helps me relax and feel like everything is going to be all right. So comforting and relaxing. I'm going to buy all her albums.
My evolution away from LDS has indeed been a “crucible of fire. “ and I deeply, sincerely appreciate your ability to label it.
Just beautiful! 🎤🎻🎵🎵 ExJW Solidarity! 👍
Thank you Mindy Gledhill ... may God continue to bless you on your amazing journey! We love you. My wife, 5 daughters, son-in-law, and two granddaughters and I ... all resigned last Aug. 2018. You're album "rabbit hole" has been so comforting to us... is has been such a blessing.
Wonderful human. So much talent and beauty in her and her music. I remember her song “Child of Light” years ago and fell in love with her voice. Good for her doing what feels authentic, empowering, and right. (I’m still active LDS but I appreciate these interviews. There’s room for everyone ❤️)
John, thanks for having such a delightful guest. Loved this episode and loved the music. Mindy (and band), thanks for being on Mormon Stories. You are terrific.
What a delightful woman with a kind and loving spirit. I’m an avid collector of good music and am glad to have picked up all of Mindy’s works today on Amazon. I wish her nothing but the best as she continues to be a Greatest Hit.
I was completely enamored by Mindy as a Mormon. I learned about her from a companion on my mission in 2009 and I had my parents send me her album to listen to on P-days. I left the church in October of 2018. This is the first I am hearing about her leaving the church. I am so in favor of this!! I still love Mindy's music.
Lovely. Simply lovely. Thank you.
I have wept... Mindy's music has helped, and brings comfort to me. I appreciate her perspective and love her work! I can so relate to her words...Me and my little heart, Thanks-You! ❤
I adore Mindy Gledhill! I just bought all her albums on iTunes! I also appreciate her candid and personal interview with you. Thank you both!
Beautiful and brilliant!
Good ole taffy pulling Jeff use to love his talks at gen conf how things have changed in our lives.
I love anchor, and you are so inspiring to me. Right after my transition to atheism, I found you had also left the church, and I was elated! You were a huge support on my mission, and now your Rabbit Hole album is helping me now. Much love!
Watching this 2 years from then, gonna check the website! Thank you for your music, which has deeply helped me process my faith transition this year.
She's the best. More people should be like Mindy.
"Wandering souls may appear to be lost When in truth they are forging the trails Of their most earnest thoughts This is no patty cake, taffy-pull, carnival ride This is the crucible of fire"
The 3:40 mark. My favorite song and the story behind it. Elders Holland's talk disturbed me so much, as did the audience laughing. Thank you for letting me know it wasn't just me. Wonderful job.
I find this so applicable to any one's journey through any difficult or painful situation. I personally have found her music beautiful on y journey. She is so talented and truly a humble human being.
bluebird lyrics and vocals wow! and the violinist! I'll have what she's having. Great musicians all three! Superb energy!
Leaving the church is so difficult to do. And the struggle is finding reasons to stay, finding ways to "make it work." But so many of us had to leave out of principle, not because we wanted a "patty-cake, tafy-pull"
Wow she’s a beautiful person and beautiful music... I’ll buy the album on iTunes.
OMG, my wife and I can relate to SO much of this! Making coffee out in the garage so the house wouldn't smell like it if the kids came over. LOL Thanks for sharing your journey that is unique yet so similar to what all of us have felt and gone thru on our own journey.

Welcome to the coffee life :)
2:45 perfectly explains how I feel too!
Terrific. Buying the mp3 album, or CD. Recommended the album to several friends. We'd love to see Mindy & her friends come through the Midwest on tour.
Beautiful
What? Jeff Holland yell? No way! Lol
i can't find the original mindy interview(s) can you link them please?
Thanks for sharing such an inspiring interview. Mindy is sooooo beautiful and sexy! She is definitely a fantastic female artist who brave to be herself and fulfill both herself and this world with love. ❤️
I hope that getting away is not getting away from god but only to mormonism organization.. or just not accepting the book of mormon but only bible.. the bible.. the bible only..
What is she playing? She has all my respect but is that red child's piano-guitar for real? 😄
Screw Jeffrey R Holland. I will never question my new belief that whatever respect he once commanded of me was always a deep manipulation.
