I never understood or cared about the meaning of this song until Morisette covered it.

Watching Mori sing requires some strength, endurance and restraint as her renditions always carry a lot of emotion in them. That’s why she makes a connection that bares down such an impact of emotions on the listener. And not a lot of singers are able to create that within just a few lines into the song, or much less even have that gift at all. I sometimes pity people who get to watch her sing because of the burden of emotions that come with it.
