A look at the WW2 type 22 Pillbox located just behind Leasowe Castle on The Wirral and onto Leasowe Lighthouse dating back to 1763, finally ending its service in 1908. It went on to become a grade 2 listed building in 1952. Standing 110ft tall the oldest brick lighthouse in The Uk and constructed of 660,000 hand made bricks which were largely made by local children. Apparently the friends of Leasowe Lighthouse who maintain the building were quoted pre Covid £250,000 just to paint the building with £70,000 just for the scaffolding.
