Loads of tramps when I was a kid in the 70s mainly in the Shaw Street, Everton area! they all hung around a place called the Unique it was a doss house for tramps, they would be all over Shaw street even outside my doctors on the step! they had fuck all, string holding their kecks up etc they never asked for a penny off anyone! over the Road on Netherfield Road south was the original Ann Fowlers massive building and that was like the equivalent of the Unique but for women tramps and battered wives, some mainly the men would go to margaret street baths where they had cubicles of bath tubs were they could get a wash etc

There used to be an old tramp in Lancaster yrs ago when i was a kid, and i was terrified of him, but when i was older and homeless myself, i used to sit and talk to him, he was called Bernard, and he used to talk a lot about the war and shrapnel and he had some very interesting stories, and then one night i went to see him and he collapsed and died right in front of me, and it came out he was married with children and he just upped and left one day and they didn't see him again, and the interesting thing was, he was one of the first ever nuclear scientist in the world, on an island in the middle of the Pacific, and he never ever cashed his war pension, but all the stories he told me must've been true. @@MichaelParkinson-wz1nh yes there used to be one that used to come to Wigan. We used to see him normally on the train platform. He was Polish and he would walk up and down the platform with a bottle in his hand shouting to himself in Polish. The station staff never intervened and at first he scared me. But mum told me that he would be behaving like that because of what he would have seen and experienced in Poland during the war. He didn’t seem as scary to me after that. God knows what that poor gentleman had experienced or witnessed. Another one a Scot that everyone called Jock lived in a old caravan on farmland not far away from us. He was always drunk and he used to come in the local chippy and he would stink to high heaven. He was a very polite man who apparently had a very good job and was very intelligent. Watched this with a heavy heart as I'm born and bred Morecambe but moved away 20 years ago. But it's the age old question, where do you house people who don't want to be part of a functioning society and are incapable of existing in an adult way? Every town has this problem it's just seaside towns have it worse. Why live off benefits in the inner cities of say Manchester, Liverpool or Glasgow when they'll give you a flat by the seaside?

Very sad and depressing, especially seeing the group of alcoholic dropouts. Think there was mental health issues and probably onset Korsakoff Syndrome in the mix too. It’s beyond words to explain how bad this country is declining and it’s the Tory government to blame. This general election can’t come soon enough in my opinion. Hi Billy, I'm a long time lurker on your channel and first time commenting, I'd just like to say that you should consider doing more tours of British towns. Just the right mix of filming, talking, interviewing and listening... Really fascinating viewing. Thanks!
I'm not convinced about some of the so called homeless. This may be somewhat of a sweeping statement, but I think if you offered any of that lot you were talking to a paying job starting at 8.00am every day they would run (sorry get a taxi on benefits) a mile.

It's sad to see those lost souls on the streets drinking!. To them drinking and sitting there on the Streets is normal and rationale, when most of us will see it as very sad and pathetic. It really is sad how they're living their lives on the fringes of mainstream society!. Anyway Billy, Thanks for your vid. John. 🥹👍
What a man u are billy lad
Tyson should become Morecombe's leading property developer and build the country's biggest gambling casinos and get special status give Blackpool a run for its money.Show it how it's done.

@TriTr-qd2bd Manchester? Have they even done anything with it? It was supposed to rejuvenate Blackpool bringing investment into the local economy en masse. But the local council voted to encourage more tourism but highlighting the history and local traditions. So if Blackpool could not pick up the baton why not take it up the road to Morecombe.

I'd of thought if it was viable then they'd of already done it, they been supposed to be doing a northern Eden project here for yrs, god knows when, they been doing it for years, but like everything else, talk about for twenty years, before they even think about it. ✌️😎.

Yea cause more poverty with a mega casino , great idea
yOU SAID THE SAME THING AS ME SOON AS I SAW THE BOAT,kEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
They're not going to fix their problem sat there though.. should start a band or something. 😑 It's a shame Fury doesn't throw a load of his money into the place seeing as he likes it so much around there. We hear footballers doing the same thing to their communities back home but you never hear about it over here. Great vid as always Billy.
I went to Morecombe weekend's to visit the awesome Empire club in the 90,s ...great times 🥁🎹🥺🕊

Lindsey is usually chatty and cheerful but some days breaks down if I see her early morning when she’s freezing cold and has walked the streets all night to keep warm. She has schizophrenia and addiction issues. Council say they won’t house her as she’s a threat to herself… never mind the threats other people pose towards her. I often see her with black eyes where she’s been assaulted. It’s v sad
morecambe, i think thats where Tyson Fury's gaff is

All that was missing was tyson fury to stroll by and start singing with the bums like rocky Balboa 😂
This makes me so sad.
This is GREAT Britain, Nothing much GREAT About it anymore I'm afraid. 💉💊🚽🔪🧟💔🤮☹️🇬🇧
It's never been that grim..
Believe in Jesus and God,may God bless them all.
The bit, where you are at the clock tower, and u say costa del Morecambe, well that sand is the best bitta sand in Morecambe, and you woulnt believe it, but that was brought in from somewhere else, it was actually white sand when they put it there, there's a vid of Tyson Fury, getting mugged off there. Nice one Billy and Terry. 👌✌️.

Thanks for sharing. The Girl in the video is actually my cousin and we all thought she was dead! Least we know now she is a live and know where she is,but I wouldn't say she was in a good place hasn't been for years refuses help. Would love to send her some warm Clothes but hard to when she doesn't have an address! I refuse to send her money so she can fuel her drug habbit 😢
Met you few years ago ya a good man la 😊
is it still a popular tourist resort ?
Very sad and depressing, especially seeing the group of alcoholic dropouts. Think there was mental health issues and probably onset Korsakoff Syndrome in the mix too. It’s beyond words to explain how bad this country is declining and it’s the Tory government to blame. This general election can’t come soon enough in my opinion. I know the Labour Party isn’t like it used to be but surely it is impossible to do any worse of a job than the shower that we have had to suffer for the last 14 years.

I know all these ppl, the lad with the grey beard and hat is a really good lad, he's got a false leg, and he sleeps in an old cellar round the corner, but he's had quite a few places, he just can't look after himself i suppose, but always gi him a few quid if I've got it, i talk to him every time I'm down there, he's there every day, but he is the only one that's homeless the lassies r not, the Scots one is quite mouthy and she had a big shiner last week, but the little one is a really nice girl, and she was a very pretty girl when i first met her over fifteen years ago, 👌💯.

The decline has been going on far longer than 14 years. Every single government since the 70's is responsible for what Britain has become. Labour and Conservative no difference.

@@PopularesVox you're right, i remember my parents, going on about Thatcher in the 80s, and we used to get milk given in the infants, and she put a stop to that, but u right about one thing, there all full of promises, until they get in power, and then it's about what's innit for them, they all have a place in London, and a big pile in the country, they don't care about us, little ppl, it's about making the rich, richer, and poor, poorer, ✌️.

Just caught your channel. Interesting video Billy.
our local area has gone from families to rentals … and the landlord animals think it’s ok to let rubbish Sit on the front lawns
I can agree with it being rough
