That’s pretty cool. I used play this 20 years ago and I never knew about those hidden places. I often wondered if there was anything hidden. Maybe they were written and part of the level but unused in the end.

You learn about something new every day. 2:58 to 4:04 is probably just there for back ground details I imagine? It's outside the expected mission area, but you would certainly be able to see it from within bounds.

I think a lot of the assets are stuck out of bounds because they could only get the intro cut scenes to work by having them rendered on the map at all times. The PS1 Army Men games were very janky and rushed as the series progressed, so it's possible that their janky code required a lot of assets to be physically placed out of bounds to make sure other mechanics worked.

Even with more polished games, it's an extremely common practice to cache everything used in a single "load zone". This is in part due to file I/O being a bit of a bottleneck (especially when reading off of a CD-ROM). It's also a way of dealing with memory limitations. It's generally pretty fast to just keep things out of the player's point of view and "warp" them around the game world as needed. This avoids the need for further load times and and generally simplifies logic.

So I started messing around with this game again and I figured out in Comm Down it is pretty easy to get out of the level without cheats. One of the times I did this though I just heard a voice say "Fun is over" and then the green soldier got teleported to a small prison area where he gets shot. This can be such a strange game lol

@OldFashionGamerTag Hey! sorry I just saw your comment. It's pretty easy to get out of the level on Comm Down. Go to where the towers are at in the end of the level. Right before you get to the towers you will pass a tan camp this is where you can get out. You will notice a small incline leading to an elevated area behind one of the tan tents. There is also a tan machine gunner at that spot for reference. Once you get up the incline you are pretty much free to roam the level. Except for when the game decides to randomly teleport you to tan prison to be executed lol.

That actually happened to me years ago and could never figure out how or why it happened. Just always kept me on my toes not to screw up again. Now I need to go back and try it knowing what caused it.

@@jukeboxdude Yeah it's weird because I'm still not sure what actually triggers that to happen. I've gotten out of the level and explored without anything happening and other times I'll get out and immediately be sent to the prison and others I'll be able to explore for a bit and then get sent to the prison area. Let me know if you you need any help with getting out of the main level!

Me and my cousin was playing this back in 2000 and something. And i accidentally found this weirdplace. It has all kinds of vehicles that's available in the game facing each other. And you can enter the vehicle on your side. And after that all the vehicles will move and attack you

4:38 I would assume this is some kind of debug area, but it's a lot more fun to imagine it's a weird Arkham Asylum style Easter egg teaser for Army Men Air Attack

So me and my brother used to play Army men team assault We figure out a glitch that makes the character jump in mountain somehow the land it's flat completely but the more we go the more we're getting to unusual stuff like a tank Road but in the end of the map we discover something interesting and shocking at same time four men sitting in corner of the map their position like a square whenever we get close they shot us no matter what we can kill them because they using machine gun they don't move either

I really need to get around to trying the gameshark codes for this! I like the train in the water I wonder what the game would have looked like if it had been finished

i found some really cool out he map glitch on Army Men: Lock 'N' Load back when i played. involved going backwards in one of the training missions

Yeah, this game brings back great memories! But Iv'e been on my ps2 now; I know this thing where you can remove the disc while you're playing and you can access secret places without it loading obsticles far out in the distance. I believe this only works with certain massive games. I never tried doing it with ps1 (yet)

I remember when I played the crap outta this game... one time i was playing multiplayer in snake canyon and got glitched on a flat surface with two tan tanks and tons of crates. i fell off so i never got to see anything else. I always used to try to figure out how to get that same glitch

Dirty Dawg at one point you where to place tanks and jeeps ( judging on a screenshot I saw as a kid in the instructional booklet). The strange part is that coding is still in the game for placing theme so levels like snake Canyon as you saw tanks (4 by the 2 tan 2 green) those tanks where what to place in that map. If you want a full list of what map was to have what vehicle to place just ask!!

the tan halftrack and train are my favorite in the video!

I heard they didn't have enough time to finish the development and these could be leftovers that they couldn't/can't remove from the map

​@@joedaylightI think that was one of the things that hurted franchise most. They had creative visions but didn't have time. Also at the time consoles weren't powerful enough so most of their ideas were seen as CGIs. imo they should have tapped the potential of PC more. But yeah, the one thing I liked that there were lowkey 2 multiverse (World War aka first Army Men games, and Sarge's Heroes). However imo Army Men franchise still have potential to make a comeback if there'd be Netflix adaptation, it's basically a Toy Story but more brutal and explicit that involves plastic soldiers.

Take 2 owns the rights to army men (if im not mistaken) so they would be the ones to contact. Who knows if take 2 was to revive army men(which is very unlikely) rockstar could develope the game which would be cool.
