Shawn, today you helped me with a project out in the horse barn. I was alone and the task seemed impossible for one person. I asked myself, well, Shawn does everything on his own, what would Shawn do here? I was then able to think differently and came up with an excellent solution that worked! Thanks for helping this 60 something old lady be more self-sufficient. Keep teaching us by example, you have more impact on others' day to day lives than you know.

When Shawn told us about needing 10,000 hours experience to be considered a master at something, I told him he was a master at inspiring others to be more self reliant. And you just proved it.

Ten grains of rice are enough for a small salt shaker on the table and the salt is always loose and the rice does not fall through the holes. Other salt is good to have in a sealed container and put into it a piece of tied canvas with a tablespoon of rice !!! The syrup put in the thermos is resistant to temperature changes in the room.

The menthol crystals are from me. Since they are my fav thing in saunas I thought you could use that for your new sauna during the long winter months, it's refreshing. Put only a few directly onto the hot stones, close your eyes, breathe deeply and enjoy. But there are countless other uses. Thank you again - I am a happily self-employed now and many game-changing ideas about how to leave the rat-race originated from you:-)!

Thank you for sharing the gift opening! Totally love it! I also enjoyed seeing the side porch through the window! It really looks nice. And one person kiddingly said we watch your videos because we are in love with Cali!! Yes, that is another reason why I watch the videos!! I even ordered a similar orange toy for Allegra, my Golden Retriver and she loves it!! Once I throw it, she runs for it and then runs up and down the street with it! It is soooo much fun to watch her!!! ( I live on a dead end street with a gate....very safe) I would like to add that I am even learning about cooking and moving around in a kitchen. For a very long time I was lucky, I had someone who cooked for me. Since I no longer have that person, I am now doing my own cooking and I love the way your cooking is; so laid back and easy, not like the TV shows where everything is so super organized. Thank you for your wonderful, professional fun and entertaining videos. The autumn colors are amazing!! Say hi to Cali from Allegra!!

I work for Amazon in a sort center in SE Michigan. We sort packages for only Michigan and Ontario. I've worked many, many shifts on an outbound line for Ontario. I can tell you that Ontario gets a minimum of 3 trailer loads of packages every single day. Its very, very fast paced, but whenever possible I check the addresses to see if Shawn James or MSR pops up. Considering how many Amazon packages I've seen you open, I'll get lucky one of these days and catch your package going through. :)

Thanks, Shawn, for sharing your time with us through this much enjoyed mail and gift opening vid. As a native Vermonter residing in Maryland now, seeing you wear that Maryland hat put a smile on my face; never would I have imagined ever seeing that on you, way up there in a beautiful, secluded cabin in the northern Ontario forest - simply heartwarming, as it reminded me how small our world really is, and how much more connected people are to each other these days! Old Bay Seasoning is HUGE down here, and has been an iconic fixture in MD for decades, being especially loved on Blue Crabs and other seafoods in and around the Chesapeake Bay, but also enjoyed on a large variety of other foods too. Btw, as you may have already noticed, the maker of that seasoning, McCormick & Co., Inc., is the same company that makes the ever-popular Montreal Steak Seasoning that I first learned about from watching Joe's channel, and have seen used on so many other Canadian outdoors channels as well. For aromas in the sauna, try an old Finnish tradition, pour a little beer into a mug and add some water to it then toss it on the hot rocks. The sauna will smell like fresh baked bread, very relaxing and comforting. Fire starting, a small clump of 00 grade steel wool lights easily and burns VERY HOT great for damp kindling.

I was born & raised in Annapolis, MD & we always use Old Bay, when we steam our crabs. I still use it for fish & some other seafood, even though I live in KY now. That's very sweet of you to share your gifts from subs online, Shawn & I'm sure everyone appreciates it too. Your videos are exceptional & continue doing whatever you want; this is your channel & I love it just your other subs here. Blessings, hugs & the best to you & your family & of course, Cali! 😊🙏💖🐾💖

Try the Old Bay on French Fries or roasted potatoes. One of my favorites and a staple for us Marylanders. Honestly, you can put Old Bay on just about anything from fish to steak to veggies. Great seasoning.

That fish art is amazingly beautiful! I love the giant cholula. :D I didn't even know that existed, now that I do, I must find that. That is so nice for people to send in gifts and for you to share them with all of us. Thank you everyone. I enjoyed the unboxing.

This is awesome. I've been following your journey for a while and thoroughly enjoyed your love for old bay and wearing the Maryland hat for the video! Nice little unexpected surprise as a Maryland native. Keep up the great work and videos!

Hey Shawn, glad you got the Old Bay and Hat.. the hat is not the old bay logo but rather a very popular design here in Maryland . The design on the crab is the Maryland state flag which is actually a coat of Arms (only state flag in the USA based on a coat of arms). and of Course the blue crab is associated with Maryland... Old bay originated in, and is made here in Maryland.... Anyway... glad you liked it ... and yes old bay goes great on everything !!!

I used to be in charge of a detox that included sauna time and I don't think you'll want to put the essential oils directly on the stones. Put a bit in a cup of water and leave it in the corner somewhere. The oils will evaporate into the air. Directly on the stones just burns it off too quickly and may change the smell.

Wonderful generosity from those folk who sent you gifts. Enjoy them. Wonderful table now too....everything looks even cosier with the proper table, a table runner and the pillows/cushions soften the whole cabin up. Take care.
