More Height and Pre load Adjustments on Ohlins S2000 Suspension

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I needed to readjust the coilovers after adjusting the wrong perch last time I messed with the S2000 height. I also wanted to bring the car up a bit more.

As an avid car guy, thank you for not doing mods half-ass. It's nice to see a car enthusiast on youtube that takes great pride in doing mods right the first time. Keep up the awesome work! Hope to see you running around N. Lake County.

I was only paying 50% attention, but just in case I saw it right: you can't just lower the vehicle onto its wheels and look at the ride height. You have to move the vehicle, rock it around some at least. Because tire friction won't allow the tires to settle all the way after taking off of a lift or a jack.

I need some Ohlins in my life, the GTI would be so much fun. Edit: For gloves look into Mechanix, they fit snug, and their mesh design really helps with sweat.

To save effort and time take it to a race prep company for corner balancing. I did this after going through what you are doing and I was way off if course. It should be about 350. Looks good!

I like the height and what you dialed in their Matt, I would definitely get a torque wrench I just use a cheap ass brand new Harbor Freight torque wrench I only use it for torquing Wheels. And when I bought it I compared it to my buddies Snap-on at work and they were dead on with each other as far as torque goes. I feel the best thing to do is when you're done using the torque wrench it's just set it down to its lowest setting either 5 or 10 foot pounds but I would not leave it in a high setting you're done using the tool.

If I recall, 15mm spacers don't work on the Ap2 v3 wheels. The original studs will hit the wheel since the spacer doesn't have enough clearance. I think you need 18mm at least to clear original studs.

@Matt why don't you use a proper manual torque wrench? Especially with those hidden spacer lugs...which I wouldn't ever use BTW, hopefully the new wheels will correct having to use those.

Go to REI and buy some climbing chalk and rub it on your hands before putting the rubber gloves on. It helps cut down on the gross mini steam room feeling gloves so often create.

25.4 mm per inch, .03937 inch per mm. Most accurate way to do it. Use a center punch to make a dimple for a marker, They have automatic center punch version.

Did anybody warn him about the strange preload settings for the s2000 in the rear? We got owners recommended 30mm preload and some even put aftermarket lower cups for this coil over because it hits the bumps stops. This is all from s2ki forums

You're technically supposed to adjust/set preload off the car. So your measurements might be a tad off. No hate here, just constructive criticism. Look forward to more s2000 videos/mods!
