Moosa Sohail | Director, Corporate Planning

Moosa Sohail immigrated to Canada in September 2018. By profession, he is a Chartered Certified Accountant from UK and CPSC from Canada and has 12+ years of experience. He started his career at Deloitte as an external auditor. Then he worked in the industry for another 9 to 10 years in Cadbury International and Emar Properties. He got local certifications in advance back in Dubai and also the CPACJ. This enabled him to target more employers and eliminate the question of not having local certifications.
When he came to Canada, his first employment was a contract job in Downtown Toronto. Initially in Canopy, he started as a manager for financial reporting but now he is director of FP&A.
FP&A means Financial Planning and Analysis and compromises of primarily two aspects. One is cash flow forecasting, budgeting and the second is providing Decision making support to the leadership. His domain in the organization is looking after the gross profit, margin analysis, profit probability, and in advance troubleshooting.
He considers Ottawa as family-friendly, less traffic, has low crime rates and people are more family-oriented. Its culture is a bit laid back as compared to Greater Toronto Area.
Those newcomers who are enthusiastic about stock investing, he advises to invest only 9%-10% of their money as play money. But firstly, he recommends finding a job opportunity, or if an entrepreneur then start something on your own and then buy real estate first. After that, they should play with stock because stocks can be risky.
