Fuad came to Canada in March, 2019 and was in a short time able to land his first employment role.
People told him not to hunt for senior positions as he didn't have a Canadian experience to begin with. His learning throughout this journey has been to apply a personal discount rate to all the suggestions and opinions that he gets. Everyone has a different perspective based on their personal experiences.
When he started applying, he got his first job in the first 3 months. In the first two months, he applied in 500 different companies. He would not send a generic CV but would tailor it according to the requirements of the position. and addressing the cover letters to the hiring managers. Out of the 500 companies, he only got response from 5 companies that was a success ratio of 1%. Out of those 5 companies, only two companies came back with technical interviews to proceed with.
The success ratio from these statistics was round 0.5%. But, it was 100% for him as he got job at the end of the day. The key learning he wanted to share is to keep trying because it elevates your chances of success. In term of his qualification, he has a BBA specialized in finance from IBA Karachi. Currently, where he is working, he has been promoted in one and half year as the Financial Manager.
His advise to newcomers is that always surround yourself around with people who believe in you, who give you encouragement rather than pulling you down. Give yourself a chance to believe in yourself because that is the crux of everything.
