கேட்க்கும் போது மனம் வேதனைஅடைகிறேன் அழுகை வருகிறது

மூர் மார்க்கெட் எரிந்தபோது எனக்கு வயது 26 நானும் அங்கு பலமுறை சென்று இருக்கிறேன் பழைய நினைவுகள் வந்தது இந்தப் பதிவை பார்த்தவுடன் இந்த பதிவை போட்டதற்கு நன்றி.

மூர்மார்க்கெட் சுமார் 800 கடைகள் அடங்கிய வணிகவளாகம்.மிகவும் உச்சத்தில் பொங்கி எழுந்த வியாபாரம்.கடைகளை காலிசெய்ய நீதிமன்றத்தில் வழக்கு.அரசு ஏதேனும் நிவாரணம் வழங்கி வேறு இடம் தருகிறேன் என்று முறையாக அனுகியிருந்தால் வழி பிறந்திருக்கும். திடிரென இரவு பற்றி எறிந்தது மூர் மார்க்கெட். வியாபாரிகள் பலரும் பைத்தியமானார்கள்.கடனை அடைக்க முடியாமல் தற்கொலை செய்து கொண்டார்கள்.ஒவ்வொருவரின் கடையும் சரக்கும் பல லட்சங்களுக்கு மேல் இழப்பு.அழிந்து போனது வர்த்தகம். அதன் மேல் தான் நிற்க்கிறது. இன்றைய எலக்ட்ரிக் ட்ரைன் கட்டிடம். அன்றைய அந்த நிலைக்கு யார் காரணமோ அவன் நல்லசாவு செத்திருக்கமாட்டான்

இந்த சம்பவம் 1985 ல் நடந்தது ; நான் சென்னை விமான நிலையத்திலிருந்து பாரிஸ்கார்னருக்கு காரில் வந்துகொண்டிருந்தேன் , நடு இரவில் அந்த கட்டிடம் எரிந்துகொண்டிருந்தது , அது என்னகட்டிடம் என்று எனக்கு தெரியவில்லை ; கார் டிரைவர் சொல்லித்தான் புரிந்தது . அப்போதுதான் எரிய ஆரம்பித்திருந்தது ........... அவ்விடத்தில் அதிகபட்சமாக ஒரு 15 பேருக்குள்தான் ஆட்கள் நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தார்கள் ! தீயனைப்புத்துறை அப்போதுவரை வரவில்லை ! மறுநாள்காலையில்தான் பேப்பரில் முழு தகவலையும் அறிந்துகொண்டேன் . அது M.G.R. அவர்களின் ஆட்சிக்காலம் .

இன்றைக்கும் எழும்பூர்,மத்திய ரயில் நிலையங்கள் கட்டிடக்கலை போற்றுதலுக்குறியது. ஆனா ஒன் வெள்ளக்காரனின் ரசனையோ மிக்க பிரமிப்பாக இருக்கும். பழமையை அழிக்காது உள்ளே புதுமைய புகுத்தி இருப்பாங்களாம்.(லண்டனில் வசிக்கும் என் அக்காமகன்(மருமகன்) கூறும் செய்திகள் சுவாரசியமாயிருக்கும். இன்றும் எம் நெல்லைக்குள் தச்சநல்லூர் வழியாக ரயில் கேட் அருகில் இருக்கும் ஒரு குடோன்(இன்றைய நிலை) அன்றைய பிரிட்டிஷ் கட்டிட கலைய ஒத்திருக்கும் ஓட்டுக்கூரை காற்றுப்புக வட்ட கிரில் உள்ள சன்னல் சிவப்பு நிறம் செங்கல் வெளித்தெறிய நான்?ரசித்துப் பார்த்துஆனந்தமடைந்துள்ளேன். அதேபோன்று எம் பாளை St Johns college , xavier's college அதனுள்ளிருக்கும் தேவாலயம் (ரோம்க்கு போன உணர்வ தரும்; அருவடை நாள் படப்பிடிப்பு இங்கு நடந்துள்ளது)

ஒவ்வொரு மெட்ராஸ் குடிமக்கள் அனைவரும் கண்ணிர் விட்ட அந்த துயர் சம்பவம். இன்றும் நினைவில் உள்ளது. அருமையான பதிவு நன்றி.

I was studying in class 5 in 1972...my parents got me a small aquarium and some fish from moore Market...I will never forget this old market...it's very very very nostalgic for me...very sad it isn't there today. I am 60 today.

I remember as an eight year old boy in 1965, it was an outing, a picnic sort of, to visit Moore market and the zoo. The time I spent with my mom and sister are memorable. Eating cakes and drinking cold fruitnik, shopping for clothes, just window gazing, looking at the toys, aquarium shops.

My childhood favorite place. There was a big park behind Moore market and a zoo very greenery and blossom. You can see full of flowers everywhere. Very sweet memories.

In 1972 I first landed from Coimbatore... Visited this precious place. Wonderful experience.

Actually this is a planned anti elements job to burn the market was the one in the air. They were trying to find the reason behind , and do not know what has reat happened.I remember my childhood, now my age is 57, rarely remember was with dad and mom in the boat. Few people with us. It was so enchanting in my 3 or 4 years this small lake was inside the park with zoo. Excellent collection of information🎉.

I have bought a old and good conditioned Iron Box at Rs. 20.00 . But due to some anti elements it was burnt and subsequently occupied by the Central Government .

My childhood days in Chintadripet is full of joyful memories of visiting Moor market by walk. It was the only mall in Chennai, where we get anything & everything.

I was in my early twenties...my uncle (chitti's husband) used to take us frequently there...my reading habit began from the books purchased there .. our frist fish tank and colour fishes (ornamental) were from Moore Market..!! Alas !! real tragedy...my heart goes with the shop keepers..🙏🙏🙏

Moore market was burnt.. It did not catch fire. I have been to Moore market with my father to buy new books and second hand books.

Sad to see 49 dislikes.... As a boy I have visited Moore market with my father every December to buy decoration things for Christmas. What a lovely place it was.. 🙏

I was there in Madras from 1962 - 70 in T&M w/s (H) and stayed in Triplicane Saidapet Mambalam St Thomas Mount . During that period I have visited Moore Market a number of times . Even after that when ever I visited Madras I have visited Moore Market acasionaly .One such time was in 1980. Then I heard the Fire Accident. A Historical Monument of Madras that too in between Madras Corpn & Madras Central was erazed.

Old Nehru stadium used as mainly Boxing ground, sometimes football. It was a sweet memories

இப்பொழுதும் பழைய பொருட்களை( இரும்பு, ரேடியோ, கிரேமோபோன், ரெக்கார்டஸ்..etc) வாங்கலாம். ஆனால் காலப்பொக்கிஷமான புத்தகங்களைப் பெற முடியமா? நான் சென்னை (மெட்ராஸ்) சென்றால் விருப்பமான புத்தகங்களை அங்கு தான் வாங்குவேன். என்னைப்போன்ற புத்தகப்பி ரியர்களுக்கு இந்நிகழ்வு மாபெரும் பேரிழப்பு.

ROUNDING; SEARCHING BARGAING WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCES AND THEY ARE ALL IN LATE 60S AND HIGHLY SETTLED NRI S IN ALL OVER THE WORLD. THE BOOK SHOP OWNERS WERE CLEAR KNOWLEDGE ABOUT AUTHORS AND TITLES AND QUICK SUBJECT REFERENCES OF A SPECIFIC BOOKS. NOW VALLUVAR KOTTAM IS A VERY GOOD PLACE FOR PRESERVING ,SELLING NEW ARE OLD BOOKS,

I was taken a picnic tour to Old Zoo near Central Railway Station by my Gopalapuram High School,then after it’s been shifted to Vandalore!I used to buy new cycle wheel rims at old Moore Market because it was very cheap there then I would assemble my own cycle by myself! Ruling Government and Marwadi Business magnets planed and executed a fire accident plot to vacate Moore Market venders and Small business people!So the fire accident made by Government!

My teen age memories. I used visit moor market for old English comics like, Superman, Batman, Phantom, Spiderman, Sad Sack, Little lotto, Archie's, many more old books, very cheap rates. One can get anything of daily use, second hand or new at very low prices. There used to be Madras Zoo, now newly shifted to vandaloor. We could sell any book, house hold items etc there for reasonable price. Beautyful multy market equal to present day maal. Birds, and animals were also available. Textiles, ready mades and what not any thing and every thing you need will get there.

'மெட்ராஸ்' என்ற பெயரை கேட்டாலே மனம் கனக்கிறது. ஆங்கில பெயர் என்று கூறி மாற்றப்பட்டது. உண்மை என்ன? மதராசபட்டினம் என்ற தமிழ் பெயரில் இருந்து வந்தது தான் மெட்ராஸ்.‌ ஐரோப்பியர்கள் இந்தியா வருவதற்கு பல நூற்றாண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பே மதராசபட்டினம் இருந்துள்ளது. கிருஷ்ணகிரி அருகே பெண்ணீஸ்வரமடம் என்ற இடத்தில் கிடைத்த 14-ஆம் நூற்றாண்டை சேர்ந்த கல்வெட்டில் 'மதராசபட்டிணம்' என்ற பெயர் குறிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. எனவே மெட்ராஸ் என்பது ஆங்கில பெயர் அல்ல. சென்னப்பட்டினம் என்பது 'சென்னப்ப நாயக்கர்' என்ற தெலுங்கு ஆட்சியரின் பெயரில் இருந்து வந்தது. தமிழில் லெக்சிகனில் சென்னை என்ற பெயரே கிடையாது (தெலுங்கில் 'சென்னா' என்றால் நல்ல/fair என்று பொருள்படும்). எனவே சென்னை என்ற தெலுங்கு பெயரை மாற்றி மீண்டும் மதராசபட்டினம்-Madras என்ற தமிழ் பெயரை வைக்க வேண்டும்.

@@prakaashj5485 நீங்கள் கூறும் தெலுங்கு சென்னா என்பது கன்னடத்தில் சன்னா என்பார்கள். கன்னடத்தில் சன்னாகீதிதியா? என்றால் தமிழில் நல்லா இருக்கியா? என்று பொருள்படும். ஆக தெலுங்கு சென்னா கன்னட சன்னா இந்த இரண்டுக்கும் மூலம் தாய் தமிழ் சொல்லான நல்லா என்பதுதான்தான்.

Moor Market and Spencer fire was pre-planned with then Government tactical support. If you want any old books, you can easily get it at Moor Market. My lady Park, Lily Pond all gone, when Central Station expanded. It's apt to name Central Station after MGR. With his full support all these things and Zoological Park removed in Park constituency.

I was close to tears as I watched this video. I remember visiting this market few times with my dad. I 20 yrs old when the fire took place. My dad said it was diberately done. Some political agenda by yhen ruling govt. Very sad indeed😭

எனக்கு நன்றாக தெரியும் தீப்படுத்தி எரியும்போது பயர் சர்வீஸ் வண்டி தண்ணீர் அடிக்கும் தண்ணீர் பட்ட இடமெல்லாம் தீ பிடிக்கும் நான் வேடிக்கை பார்த்துக் கொண்டு தான் இருப்பேன் தண்ணீரில் எப்படி தீப்பிடிக்கும் என்று நானே சிந்திப்பது உண்டு இப்படியாகத்தான் மூர் மார்க்கெட் காலி செய்யப்பட்டது என்று எண்ணுகிறேன் ஃபயர் சர்வீஸ் வண்டியில் உள்ள தண்ணீருக்கு அவ்வளவு பவர் இருக்கும் என்று நான் நினைக்கவில்லை எனக்கு மறதி அதிகமாக இருப்பதால் இன்னும் என் பல விஷயங்கள் மறந்து விட்டன அங்கு உள்ளே நடுவில் இருக்கும் இடத்தில் இடவசதி இல்லாதவர்கள் தூங்கிக் கொண்டே இருப்பார்கள்
