Titanium actually scratches very easily. It is exceptionally strong compared to steel. You get the same strength at 60% the weight. It is also rust and corrosion resistant.

Actually Titanium has a strange endurance to it, that makes is difficult/ annoying for machining operations. I've seen Titanium Wheel hubs that look like new after a season while aluminium wheel hubs can look pretty beaten up. But Titanium is not a hard metal/alloy so scratching it with a knife will always be rather easy. In the end Steel still makes a lot of sense when it comes to wear or scratches although stainless steel is also softer than temperature treated ferritic steel. But with ferritic steel rust is a problem., so stainless steel can be a good solution. With a product like a dongle dac or music-player case the material thickness needs to be substantial so the surfaces can't get bend or dent by hand in any orientation. So like 1 mm of steel is needed and than you maybe still have some flexing, and that is as heavy a 3 mm of aluminium and 3 mm thick proper aluminium alloy is VERY robust, you can not band a small peace by hand.

Ehh, I've been fanboying for the HA-2 since I got it in 2016, but if I look at the measurements now I'm a bit shocked how much distortion it puts out vs. most popular dongles out today. Even the power is no longer an argument as dongles have started pushing 280 or more (clean!) mW into 32 ohms (vs. 220 from the Oppo). And my cheapo ES9281 based HiBy FC3 has shown me the HA-2 doesn't even have the treble extension and supreme detail a top-tier ESS should have. So tbh I'm getting ready to put the HA-2 out to pasture somehow, treat it as a power bank, donate it or something, if my incoming AkLIAM PD4 proves to be better sounding in every way.
