Moon Stencil - layers

This is a simple tutorial on how to create gorgeous moons and backgrounds using the Spellbinders Layered Full Moon stencil, although I do show how to create a crescent moon with them too. Great for cards, journal pages, mixed media etc. I will be making Christmas and possibly Halloween cards with my backgrounds, not shown in the video tutorial, but if you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you will see them soon. I love to just play when I buy new supplies, and it's amazing how many different effects you can achieve with one stencil. I show 5 backgrounds here, but seriously, different mediums, cardstock colours and your unlimited imagination really do come together to create one of a kind pieces. I hope you enjoy and have fun!

Thank you. I love black backgrounds, and great the oxide shows up on it, though not to their true colours as against white, but definitely a cool effect

I see most people do the speckling to make stars. I just have never seen stars on the visual area of the moon. I would use the mask to cover the moon when making stars.

Oh, absolutely, if you prefer not to have the speckles over the moon, put the mask back on before speckling. That's the great thing about creating any kind of art, you get to do what pleases you. I love to experiment and do my own thing, that's basically how I've learned everything I know so far, and I love that when I teach classes some of the students do adaptations that are to their taste and the end results are always fabulous.

May I ask what is the thing you have the inks on called

Hi Debra, my husband 3D printed these ink holders for me, they hold the ink and the lid, so it's easy for me to move between inks without losing the lids somewhere on my desk when I'm doing a lot of inking. I have never seen them in a store though.
