Disclaimer: I know very little about Moon Knight and I haven't read this comic. But the way this story is described, it doesn't sound like it was written by a professional. It sounds more like someone's Moon Knight Fan Fiction, using the "Worf Effect" to show just how much of a "badass" he is.

@@maihib821 I understand from a third person perspective how this looks, but no. The writer is Jason Aaron who has been writing for Marvel comics since 2013 on books like Thor, Jane Foster's Thor, and ironically enough worked on the Avengers issues dating back to 2018 and his work is, for the most part, really well received. I just think when it came down to a more obscure character like Moonknight he didn't really understand what made the character special and unique, so he just decided to give him a crazy power boost. Moon Knight's biggest curse really is writers having no clue what he does. They always seem to try a "What if Moon Knight rebelled against Khonshu, nobody's ever done that before!" not knowing he's done that in nearly every single run. At least Bendis didn't write it.

I think it would make more sense to have Moon Knight convince people to join rather than fight them, and to join forces briefly. In the final fight they realize that they need to combine their power and the only way to do that is to put it in Moon Knight, you can say his dissociative identity disorder can be used as a vehicle to use these powers to the fullest similar to David Haller/Legion.
Too be honest, Age of Khonshu read like a spoof of DCs Dark Knights: Death Metal. It was definitely editorially mandated and rushed to coincide with DKDM's release. Over the many decades of reading comics, I've realized that it's not just parallel thinking between comic pros. Many are friends and rivals and they share, steal and spoof each other. This feels that way to me. A friendly jab at the distinguished competition. And Marvel's parody/copies often work out best. Deadpool, Sentry (tho mire of a Marvelman/Miracleman pastiche than Superman), and Secret Wars (4?) come to mind as examples.
What could have been done was that every time he absorbed an ability, it split into a separate personality, and it all slowly corroded him. Then insert some plot device and have a reason for the Phoenix force coming and that giving him some sort of boost and he melds all his abilities into one personality (and oh God wait, that's basically legion) and that's how he finally defeats mephisto once and for all

Having Moon Knight beat Iron Fist right away is unsatisfying. But imagine a Moon Knight run where in every issue you see him training for something for a page or two, only to finally find out that all that times he’s been training to take down Iron Fist
Moon Knight is more a low supernatural character. He should be fighting zombies or ghosts, or even the mafia, criminal organizations.

His arch nemesis is literally a mercenary with a death mask tattoo on his face, whom he's killed before.
This sounds like a worse version of the storyline from Bendis' Avengers where the Hood collects all of the infinity gems but it's actually really interesting how he goes about getting them and for the most part makes sense in universe how a normal human can get a hold of these protected powerful items.
This whole comics series you read comic drake seems like something out of poorly written fan fiction. Yet in spite of that bad writing it still somehow is made into a comic.

They explained why Moon Knight could beat Danny and Strange. Marc was super charged by the biggest super moon ever, and him and Khonshu are powered by the moon. Its explained when he takes Dr. Stranges power.
@phabiorules

My question about that is this. It is said that he is able to control different moons through his powers, and that is how he traps thor. With that in mind, why not just make every night a supermoon?
One positive of this run is that it set up imo Moon Knights best run with the Jed McKay midnight mission onward.
If only stealing someone's car actually gave you the owner's identity, who wouldn't steal the batmobile?
I won't lie, when I first read Moon Knight doing what he did I legit thought the guy was dreaming, that's how convenient his wins over the other Avengers were.
I love this format you've been doing! I'm super happy you finally talked about Moon Knight, he's my favorite character :D For me what was disappointing about Age of Khonshu was that Moon Knight backtracked on all his previous comics. Like he was never a devout follower of Khonshu and always had a strained relationship, and when Lemire wrote MK he was finally free of his control. I feel like Bemis and Aaron really just went back to Khonshu and made Marc go through the same arc but not as good as before. Plus I don't think Jason Aaron really understands mental illness and really skipped over that part of MK even though it's really important. Anyway love this video (and all of them duh), if you do another Moon Knight story I think Conan: Serpent War or Contagion are really good stories that are recent and not too long! :)
Scarlet witch be like : no more moonkhight
What would have worked is if Moon Knight explained the situation of Konchud's plan to Dr. Strange 1st. He would be like: "Hey Strange... mephisto is going to take over the world and I need to track down the next in line of the ancient avengers. I know you are one of them." Strange would of course see this as a big calling as the Sorcerer Surpreme and ask what Konchud plan is with combining those powers. It's then Moonknight will say that it needs to be combined into one hero... konchud's champion (aka him) to defeat Mephisto once and for all. Strange will say that those powers aren't ment to be put in 1 mere mortal.. even one supported by gods, but Moon Knight reinferm his point onto Strange and we cut to black. THEN Moonkight fights Iron Fist for the right of the power but having Dr. Strange's magic, tricks Iron Fist and defeats him, claiming the power. Then the whole vs Thor Thing happens and the moonrock and finally black panther comes in and we put in Drake's suggestion that they are siblings and that the gods have to talk it out, not their chosen champions. And then Moonknight goes to Mephisto, says the moon god knows his plan and kills him, Mephisto smirks as he dies and then the whole other Mephisto's start showing up. Konchud steps up his game to gain the last two powers... and... yea.. that's how it should go. It is then revealed Strange willingly gave his power to Moon Knight cause he foresaw a godlike war ending up, but then tells Moon Knight with Black Panther. "God's can be wrong too... Konchud knows he was tricked, he is simply grasping for dominion of the world that he is not fit to gouvern over. He is out of his league." Then we got the spreading of powers... and the phoenix? Yea that one is summoned by the person who has dr. strange's powers to be an extra aid against Mephisto and Konchud. In the meantime Konchud's followers are after Starbrand and guess what? He is looking for a new moon knight too. And thats where it leaves off I guess?

this comic is on the same level as ultron/vision slicing thanos in half in 1 second with the mind stone in the What If series
the way you were describing the book sounded a lot like a pitch meeting; unrefined, barely connected plot points meant to summarize the intent of an upcoming project. In other words, it sounds like the story could be saved by turning it into a long running series and exploring the concepts deeper, with some sort of comic shenanigans to explain how this book is just the short version. God-like being (above the in universe gods) who got a vision of future events in the form of this book? Retcon into the post arc summary comic? I wont trash the book for having ideas, only for not executing them to their full extent. If that rumor of a moon knight show is true, this could act as its pitch. I would love to see the concepts explored be expanded to fit the character better. Explain WHY each fight with a hero was successful, explore the reincarnated devil plot by focusing on each fight (or at least more than the 1 or 2 you imply are present with enough ramifications to justify), explore the struggle between a devout worshipper and godly degrees they disagree with, and the lust for power that can corrupt a previously good god into a world conqueror (the god's temple and New York, not moon knight's). Intertwine the mental health issues core to the character into each of the above expansions and the story turns from a too fast "meh" to something worth remembering. The biggest problem i see with expanding is how it likely needs 3 arcs to do it justice: a prequel arc to set up starbrand, the original avengers, and the descendant line that moon knight has to fight; the devil reincarnation and power gathering arc; and finally the crisis of faith in which moon knight has to fight his patron god, even if only to return the god's sanity, while also dealing with the ramifications of his power stealing.

I just got back into reading comics, started off with the immortal hulk and 2016 vision then started reading this run of the avengers and ohhhh boy the difference of quality! Probably shouldn’t have jumped back in with such great books
what they should have done (in my opinion) is do a full on avengers movie where they portray moon knight as the main villain and he does get the powers and all until Black Panther wins. Then Moon Knight reveals what his intentions were and they just team up against Mephisto(s). But that would just be kinda confusing in sense of the timing and all that is going on, but it would have made for a great movie.

So most people are trying to learn about moon knight because of the Disney+ show, I learned about him because of that "super hero squad" toy line and thought he looked cool😂
As a moon knight fan, my biggest issue is "what's the point?" Aaron's entire run is based around thr star brand and the prehistoric avengers, and gathering them all together once again. So what was the purpose of this run? The major things were Khonshu taking over earth, MK getting the pheonix force, and then Khonshu dying. All of those got retconned, with the one exception being Khonshu dying (which they always could bring him back).
2:43 MCU fans: we haven’t heard that name spoken in eons

See I just thought moon knight was just half crazy and half delusional and he just dreamt up the entire thing.
This story just goes along with the plot overpowers what a character can actually do and like ig the mjonir one does kinda make sense since uru does come from a moon
Moon Knight is the best anime protag that absorbs the power of his.... friends? (He looks cool in that bare combat and abs aesthetic tho -3-)
Feels like Jason Aaron knew his comic was so good it shattered the cosmic balance of the universe. So he put all of the failure needed to balance it again into this book. Just my thoughts.
What are you thought now anyone can a host of the Phoenix. In AVENGERS: ENTER THE PHOENIX
I agree with you whole heartily. I only read the first issue, and was a tad annoyed with how Moon Knight was depicted. That first issue of the Charlie Huston and David Finch run you were holding was what got me into comics. I'm a DC guy now, but still wish Marvel all the best.
What I’m guessing would be that konshu fully fused with him to do this
It's been canonically established in Marvel that Shang Chi will beat Iron Fist in a 1 vs 1 fight almost every time. Iron Fist has superpowers and can punch harder sure, but it doesn't mean anything if he can't land a hit on Shang Chi. Iron Fist was basically a rip off of Shang Chi anyways, albeit with actual super powers. Shang Chi came first and Iron Fist was created years later.
I started trying to read Jason Arron’s avengers run got to the part where they where prophesying Phoenixes and vampires and gave up. The whole series was rubbing me the wrong way with setting up so many simultaneous threats and something about it was off and I just couldn’t stand it.

Sounds like a while bunch of WIS...... One of my main issues with comic books is the consistency. Many times writers completely disregard a characters prior characterization and scaling. You’d think the editor would try to keep the continuity as consistent as they can. I think Marvel needs to seriously consider releasing fewer books in the future.
