The thing about Tony Stark is that he's lost himself. He thinks he knows who he is, but is never able to be satisfied with the answers he comes up with. He went from a simple human to a cyborg to a cloud backup and came all the way back to human, but with his mind not being the original. All of his experimentation on himself has left him on unsteady ground. And while a person can come to a point where they say, "I am ok with who I am," they can easily find themselves soon after asking, "But am I really though?" The biggest problem is Tony tries to solve all of his own problems, isolating himself from others. In times of uncertainty, the best thing you can do is talk to people you trust. Tony Stark may be Iron Man, but he is still a flawed human at the same time. He's not technically been Tony Stark since the day he got shrapnel in his chest. He has been in a constant state of reinvention since. And while a person has to stop now and then to make sure they're on the right path, Tony all too often has run through the stop signs and been more focused on Iron Man than himself. Now he's actually seeing where that's left him.

On Twitter everyone has this underlying feeling of self importance so every little thing that they don’t like they need to express their opinion on and never stray from that opinion. 4chan is the complete opposite because it is anonymous and there is virtually nothing to gain you can do anything you want because it doesn’t matter. On November 13th, Iron Man AKA Tony Stark was brought back to life after being in coma and was ask to be removed from his rich lifestyle, that request came from Tony himself. Deep down, he knew he made the wrong decision. But he also knew that someday this change would be made for the better. With no where else to go, he appeared in the path another hero, Hellcat AKA Patsy Walker. Not too long ago, Patsy was also brought back to life and is trying to find herself. Can two lost heroes fix each their lives together, without driving each other crazy? >The Odd Couple theme plays (Points to anyone who gets this reference)

I haven't read all of the new Iron Man stuff, but I've been having similar feelings about it based on what I've seen. It feels like between runs, things just got reset to some kind of generic status quo. It's like they just wanted to do their own thing without regard for what came immediately before. And while the individual stories may be good in isolation, and i get the temptation as a writer to do that, like maybe it's a story you've been pondering for years an you just want to get it on paper when you are given the chance, or something. But as a reader, following a character in the MU where the main conceit is that it is an ongoing story in a shared universe going back decades, it's jarring to just have things go like 'that stuff you read a couple months back? forget it, doesn't matter'. I get that sometimes a character needs to be shaken up some so they don't get stale or dated, like Slott supercharging the tech/AI side of things, cool, i agree with that move, since the tech in the rest of the MU had kinda caught up with Tony, so he didn't really feel like the technological leader he was created to be any more. I think him being ahead of the game relative to most other characters (aside from maybe Reed) is more important than preserving the specifics of his tech. But this feels like too many shakeups in a short span of time. Meanwhile, over in Thor... building on the recent previous runs has been kind of a big deal, and I'm here for it. Cates is still doing his own thing in a way, and probably not going the direction Aaron (or Gillen, Ewing etc. in the case of Loki) may have anticipated, but he's not throwing out stuff and starting over from some kind of neutral generic status quo like seems to be happening in Iron Man, aside from restoring Thor's arm and eye, which at the end of the day is more cosmetic than anything substantial. But Thor's still king, and that's a big part of the series and Thor's motivations and outlook, Loki's still turned face and that's playing into things, there's still the somewhat recent idea of the gods being creatures of story being used, it seems to be continuing the giant shift in roles all across Asgard, etc. Just saying, he's telling his own stories, in his own style, while still using the setup from the previous writer. And the same holds true for Loki over the course of several writers since the end of Siege. He's seen some dramatic shifts over the past 10 years, but they always have built on what had happened in the preceding writer's runs. And as a reader, i like this approach, it's been much easier to remain invested in the Asgard stuff because you don't have to just kinda forget everything that's happened when a new writer starts. Thoush as a fan of Loki in particular this has been a worry of mine every time he passed to another writer, but those fears have always been unfounded. Aaron toyed with the idea of reverting him, but didn't go through with it in the end. Maybe a few things get undone, but not just a wholesale reset to factory settings out of the gate. And I think preserving that sense of continuity and progression should take priority over telling a story that's been percolating in the back of your mind for 10 years. Continuity shouldn't matter only when it's old, basically.

Do you have any recomendations to "replace" it? I'm using Kindle Unlimited, but it doesn't have the best selection. I started with Titans from 2016 by Dan Abnett (I think...). And I really like the character Omen, but there is really no content on her on KZread. Maybe you can look into that ;) Love your videos, stay safe.

I like this informal approach in this video! Thanks for your commentary on Hellcat, different take compared to a lot of anti PC content creators. Where would you like to see Iron Man go, Drake? He's kind of floundering and stagnant because we, the readers, won't really allow the writers to change much, and their struggle to find direction manifests in Tony's struggle to be more. Spider-Man is about Responsibility. Iron Man is about self-improvement.

So Iron Man and his crew go up against Ultron, who is still fused with Hank Pym('s corpse?). Ultron is fusing other people together with machines, to mirror his own fusion, and the good guys invent a process to undo that fusion. Ultron is defeated and the day is saved. But then, for _some_ inexplicable reason, Tony DOESN'T USE his new invention to separate Hank from Ultron. Why?! Doesn't Tony want to free his friend from that horrible state? Even if Hank is really dead, surely his friends would still want his corpse separated from Ultron.

I really like that they address the whole "Tony is really god damn privileged" thing. For one because it's kind of part of his character, he is based on like *the* stereotypical rich guy. But also because they address how just because Tony is highly privileged doesn't mean he can't have proper struggles, mental struggles especially, sth which is expertly shown via this midlife crisis of sorts. I gotta say, I've been really enjoying this new post Civil War 2 era of Iron Man and I'm really interested to see what they'll do with him next. I mean, essentially the character of Tony Stark is pretty free again, now that his MCU counterpart kicked the bucket. Writers aren't forced to have such big brand synergy anymore and are allowed to experiment with and dive deeper into the flaws of 616's Tony Stark again. It's really quite nice.

Dude when Drake was talking about how any substantial character growth is introduced only to be removed later resonated with what I think whenever anything happens to a character just look at any character who has died or “died” gets a buff, nerf, or loses their powers, grows older, or has any character growth. Just give any change some time and it’ll go back to the way it was and mean nothing later in that character’s life.

Currently up-to-date with this latest round of Iron man and I have to say it's one of my favorite comics that are currently running right now. Up to the current issue to just came out recently, throughout the story we see Tony Stark actually become a human being. We see him as lowest and actually realize when he's at his lowest. We see him fighting enemy that's way beyond his capabilities and becomes a cosmic entity, only to realize that power is to great and said is what drives the people he loves most away. Not to mention Tony's addiction comes back to the in full force and this time it's not alcohol. Even when the main villain of the arc comes for one final battle, instead of a grand final we see Tony face him while strung-out and vulnerable and actually knock some sense into the main villain which leads to the final battle just normal fist fight, Tony taken to the hospital, and the villain gone(cant spoile too much). Pasty Walker being added as a love interest is actually really refreshing! We see a character who's literally been hell and back helping Tony with his issues and actually connecting with them on a high level and supporting him when needed and looking out for him when needed. I know its early to say but the two are good match in a unexpected way. I'm honestly looking forward to what's up next in this run!
