Finally starting to get into the patching. Thanks for this tutorial. Also, yeah, the cords Moog includes are good for starting out, but inevitably you'll have to buy lengthier cords to get to the ultra-interesting stuff.

Hi there thanks for the video! Maybe I am wrong but something is confusing me. You are not processing the 2 osc separately because you are actually using the MIX out so you are doubling the MIX signal and than you have one mix signal hi passed and one low passed which is not a control on the osc 1 or 2 filtering.

Lol I actually got this basically word-for-word straight out of the Moog Grandmother manual so you’d have to take it up with Moog themselves or read that section in the manual.

I also do not think that oscillator 2 is being processed separately….the mixer output is a combined signal of sources connected to it, and it appears to me that you simply are patching the standard hardwiring into the HPF, then to the mult. The filter out is being mixed in parallel to the HPF patch in the mult and that signal is running to the VCA, bypassing the standard signal of low pass filter only to VCA. I’m totally new to (Semi)modular synthesis, but reading through the user manual that’s my understanding of your patch.

I own a moog matriarch, grandmother, and Sound Studio 3, for over a year, but I'm still struggling to understand what the patch points actually do and HOW to use them. And I don't find the user manual to be much help. Any recommendations for learning resources?

Yeah I feel you and I’ll definitely make another video about it. I have a book called Patch & Tweak that is about Moogs specifically and it has helped me a ton. It’s just one of those things where you have to start small and build from there.
