I find it astonishing that you so generously experiment in front of this “live studio audience,” as it were, with so many variables at play. I so admire how you respond to comments with grace, which encourages your audience to participate. I apologize that sometimes I run off in high spirits with my comments, in sheer enjoyment of your presenting. Many, many thanks. I find you a true professional.

The special mention brings a blush. Perhaps the darkness of indigo keeps it from being mainstream, but it did look lovely as a solid with the shimmering lines. Thanks for giving it a try and battling it out to lift the print into the light.

Indigo dyes come from fermented plant and urine. It creates a very permanent dark blue. Indigo dye was originally used for making denim blue. There are synthetic colors now that attempt to create the beautiful blue of the original indigo. Nice print.

Do you water down the raw Sienna paint? I am just so amazed at how that picks up those ghost prints. What is your thought when you go to add the collage? I love how it's not a scene stealer, but that it just seems to pull everything together. When using up the last drops of paint in your tubes or bottles, have you usually watered them down a little, or do you just let the paint go? Thank you so much for your gentle and interesting videos. You are a good teacher.

  • @artwhisperer88

The raw sienna Blickcrylic is straight out of the bottle. It is a student grade paint so I guess it has a lot of extenders which make it a bit watery, but the bonus is it picks up ghost prints well. Another viewer suggested that I cut open the tubes and scrape all the last drops instead of watering them down. Thanks so much for watching!

lovely work! Can I ask what you feel about the uneven edges of the final print. They do give the prints a more individual, handmade feel I think. as opposed to prints run through a press. Do you frame them with the wide white borders as they are?

Thanks for pointing that out! I really don't mind the ragged edges, but I could wipe the edges of the plate with a moist rag before the next layers to avoid that. I like to float the image in a shadow box at times, or use a white museum mat with a 1/2 inch border from the image all around. Please see kzread.info/dash/bejne/mXuZuJR9Y9e1d5s.html

Do you use soft body or liquid acrylic? My Geli plates do not hold onto the paint. The paint separates into an interesting a streaky bubble like pattern.

  • @artwhisperer88

depending on the effects you want you can experiment with more viscous paint or watery paint. The soft body clings to the plate better, the watery paint makes a |acey pattern.
