    I liked your comment about and use of positive shapes. It makes a quite distinctly different print. And of course using disposable stencils means your work will always be fresh. I am sure many will be glad that the fabriano is almost finished. the tension at the reveal was almost unbearable! 😄 glad you like uk somerset paper. I live in bristol just a few miles away. We often have clients in Wells.

    Once I heard someone recommend soaking dirty brayers in Murphy's Oil Soap overnight. I tried it, and it worked. You still have to peel off the paint, but it's much easier, as I remember. I haven't done it for years, so I hope it's the right directions. Thank you for your wonderful work. Your voice and the music is so calming.

    This is stellar! Love it. What an inspiration! Who is anyone to tell you what to do with your art? I had a thought about a way to possibly save your stencils. You can get clear contact paper very I expensively. If you can coat your stencil paper with the Contact paper and then cut your stencil it might give enough body for reuse. Especially if you coat both sides. By the way- a brilliant solution to the floppy paper syndrome!🤓

    I think Akua inks can be used for more open time with very lovely results, working into the layer for markmaking. The first gel work I ever saw was done by someone using very large plates and Akua. I agree that the Speedball is a different thing, as you say. Close to Akua but with a shorter drying time are Golden Open why do allow you to add textural detail. The cleanup is easier than Akua too. I really like your low cost solutions though, with maximum impact That is a neat technique using something beneath the cutout stencil to ease it into place. The way you carry on till you get the result you need is a teaching in itself! Some great results today.

    More beautiful and inspirational work. Thank you, Fulton. Somewhere on the web I picked up a useful tip for cleaning brayers: soak them for a day or two in liquid laundry detergent. Then you can wipe off the paint and the brayer is like new. I keep a small sealable container half filled with detergent for that purpose. It can be used for long periods and also works for forgotten brushes and other tools. And don't forget that acrylic paint is basically plastic and any waste, liquid or solid, should be treated as toxic waste and not end up in wastewater either.

    To make longer lasting overlay stencil as you've used today try using Tyvek. Each layer of acrylic paint makes is a little stronger. I used a Tyvek USPS envelope I got in the mail, lasted several pulls. Love what the teal does in all these prints. Great session!

    My favourite is still #2, even though I was cringing when you going for the silver/pearl layer because I thought it would ruin it! It turned out really nice! I love the blues, turquoise and that Arctic blue, the ‘water’ colours are my favourites. I do also like the mid century vibe of #1 ! I agree with you about the Akua Intaglio inks, they are expensive, I bought 3 Golden Open paints and for the money, they are also not much of an advantage on the Gelli plate.

    Fulton, please, please, please consider representing yourself with a nice picture of yourself. Your work is so amazing and this cartoon you have here and on your site doesn't look anything like you and doesn't represent your art or personality. I showed your site to a friend and the first thing she said to me was that the fact you don't have a photo of yourself on your site or anywhere else is a red flag. I assured her that you really are a person and that you were the one who I was learning from. I never would have considered that a red flag. But, I just wanted to pass that along. You are in your work and in our hearts. Please consider letting the world see you. I know you are a very private person. I consider it a privilege to watch these videos and learn, and see the magic that is the end result. We all support you here.

    Thanks so much for your words of support! However I would like to point out that this comment section is visible to a worldwide audience and I will not tolerate slanderous statements about my credentials or my authenticity by your red flag friend because I use a caricature for my avatar. Millions of people online use avatars, I see nothing wrong with it. My avatar has absolutely no bearing on the consistency and quality of my channel's output. Maybe eventually i will put my photo up, but that is my decision, not anyone else's. There I said it.

    Hello: I really like your videos. I just wanted to inquire about the Sharpie that you are using. Is it a Sharpie paint pen? If not, and if it is just a Sharpie marker that has “permanent” on it - warning - it is NOT Permanent and will fade.

  • @artwhisperer88

    @artwhisperer88

    6 ай бұрын

    Hi Elizabeth, I use a regular Sharpie, not a paint pen. I like them both. "permanent" is really relative as you know it rubs off and fades in time. This is not so much a concern for me, as all art is not permanent, just like our lives. All art of value ( including furnishings, fabric, photos, etc.) should be kept away from direct sunlight or UV light, as it hastens the fading process. I hope this allays your fears.

    Paper is made of absorbent fibers. Letting the paper sit for a while allows the water content of the acrylic soak into the fibers and create good adhesion for a successful transfer. Pulling the paper too soon results in an incomplete transfer, which is a waste of good materials!
