I really enjoy your talk and your liberated painting style and that you don’t paint to please anybody…you paint to please yourself. I am so afraid to fail that I am frozen in my place. I keep wanting to paint but I’m so scared to make mistakes. When I watch you, it gives me courage. Thank you so much for introducing tonalism, I think I’m liking it. Thanks a lot

Another great painting, It is very nice, and I couldn't get the thought of the nutria out of my head until you fixed its teeth and nose. Thanks for planting that seed. We have them come onto our property via stream. In Oregon they were brought in for their fur, now there is no getting rid of them, eating would be an option I hadn't thought of, big enough critters to make a meal of for certain. Thank you Stuart for another very enjoyable painting. BTW, I'm interested in one from the gallery on your website but each time I try to message it errs out. Thank you again Sir!

Must say, the painting you lost looks beautiful, moody and mysterious, and I love to see light shining through trees. Can't wait to see part 2 of this painting, though it's great as it is. I used to have my heart in my mouth when you went back to a painting in case you mucked it up, but now I look forward with anticipation to your parts 1 and 2 and sometimes 3, and also to your glazing. I like it, but... and yes, I'm still here, seeing as you asked. :o) I had to comment before the end of the vid. To cut a long story short, the reflections you added, would only look like that, if the trees were on the edge of the bank, Stu. Getting the reflections 'right', as in what would be seen, depends on where the viewer would be standing, if they were in the painting. The trees are a little distance from the bank, which means, only the middle/top of the trees would be reflected, and not the trunk or 'white spot'. I sussed this years ago, so, imagine you traced the outline of the trees (or anything else that you wanted to reflect), now flip the tracing upside down, so the bottom of the trees touch the bottom of the trees on the tracing. Whatever part of the tracing overlaps the water, there's your reflection. Like I said, it all depends on where you're 'standing', if you were in the picture. If you were on a little mound (higher up), you'd see the top of the trees, but no trunks! I don't know much, but what I do know, is worth knowing! :o)
